The sign suggested to me Moet et Chandon.
IMO, these people who harbor unreconstructed racist beliefs cannot also be "good people." It's like the belief that despite slavery the South was a glorious culture. It wasn't glorious by the very fact that it was founded on and held up by the enslavement of people kidnapped from their homes and brought here to work and die.
Nice Christmas spirit these Republicans show. Suffer the little children to come unto pre-kindergarten, please, you benighted Philistines.
Yeah, this is great stuff but probably more appropriate for the Scene and then a shorter, er, pithier, version for Pith. I think the craft beer halls in the old Fluffo building on Main are great.
Memphis is the obvious choice, starting with being the capital of the Delta. Which, I believe, is the accepted birthplace of the blues. Nashville is twang and sequins and rhinestone and Memphis is a blues-y sax and a BB King lick, and pointy shoes from Lansky Bros. Listen to John Haitt's Memphis in the Meantime if you want to feel this. Sounds as sweet as sin. Nashville is an atrocious place to put an African-American Music Hall of Fame. And I KNOW about Jefferson St., and Hendrix. But W-D-I-A was "the black spot on your radio dial." ANd Memphis is where a bloody museum should go, unless it goes in Clarksdale, MS.
Bee-yu-ti-ful summary, BD.
This is so freaking blatant. Mr. Mayor, pu-leeze start thinking of the needs of these poor and middle-class kids of Nashville rather than what your West Meade political cronies are whining for, private education they don't have to pay private tuition for.
