@Mark, I usually blame Lisa Patton.
Bitesters, I have a reservation tonight at 7:15 at the Catbird Seat that I can't use. I gave it to my sister who is now sick and can't use it either. If anyone wants it please post here and I'll figure out how to get in contact to give you the details.
I agree there are some issues with the seeding. I'm not a yankee, but I'm neither cajun nor lowcountry, and I heavily favor the classic and BBQ regionals. Also, too hard to pick the way they pitted sweet v. savory--- can't I have catfish AND beignets? peach cobbler AND a country ham biscuit? and for that matter, fried chicken and pimento cheese??? you can keep your boiled peanuts.
@ Local Foodie, it makes me feel so much better that you have no problem with my interest in this activity. Thanks. I lost a lot of sleep worrying that perhaps I'd lose your approval because I drank juice for 3 days and liked it.
I've done a 3-day juice fast from Blueprint Cleanse (based in NYC) and I've done the Juice Nashville one twice. I was thrilled to have a local option (and a cheaper one--the shipping on BPC was pretty steep). The one area where BPC had a leg up was the almond milk---theirs had agave, cinnamon and vanilla and retained more fat from the almonds---it really tasted like a milkshake (at least it did after taking in nothing but juice all day). All of the other juices were delicious!
As for the health claims, I do not do juice fasts to clean out my intestines or to lose weight. I find it's just a good way to push the reset button after an overindulgent time (post-holidays, after traveling on business a lot, etc.).
Congratulations to the Catbird Seat! Well-deserved based on my wonderful experience there in October.
I do wish they would tweak their reservation system. Sorry to mix a semi-gripe with a congratulatory post, but I'm trying to get a reservation during my birthday week or near it. The system doesn't distinguish on the calendar between days that the restaurant is closed, days that are fully booked and days that have not opened up for reservations yet. It's a bit confusing and frustrating.
The new place on Richard Jones Road says Alegria Mexican Restaurant and Tequila Bar. There's also a Japanese restaurant going in a few doors down, Kohana Japanese Restaurant. I think they're both supposed to open in March.
