Who is Joe Kirkpatrick and why should I care about anything he says?
Theaton, no one says you can't defend yourself and your family, no one said anything about your "right to keep and bear arms". I'm just saying what the other millions of us whose life circumstances don't revolve around always being on the defense believe - - keep your battles at home. I feel certain that most of those 2.5 million defensive gun uses you mentioned were at a residence not at local bars and restaurants. Taking the gun battle into the public will not lessen the number of victims, it will increase it exponentially. Having a gun doesn't make you a bad person any more than having a carry permit and packing a gun makes you a crack shot. The majority of folks will uphold your right to keep and bear arms all you want; we just don't want you to come "bearing" them while we're trying to have a meal or enjoy our friends.
What a sorrowful life it must be to fear that everyday someone is going to attack you, that armed robbers are going to target you and your family at every restaurant and bar you frequent, and that everywhere potential danger is lurking with you and your family in its sights. If this was Juarez, Mexico, I could understand it, but Tennessee? So if you are such a target for dangerous thugs, do the rest of us a favor and stay home. Arm yourself to the teeth to fend of those looking for you. As for the rest of us, let us enjoy our life without fear of you and your enemies going at it.
