Has anyone heard anything about Yeast Nashville? I randomly came across their Facebook page the other day. They're opening soon on the east side & specializing in kolache. I'll be more than happy to taste test! I'm both Polish & Bohemian and have eaten about a gazillion kolache.
Viener Fest opened earlier this week. Has anyone tried it yet? They've been posting pictures on Facebook & it looks pretty good!
Non food related, but when I was in high school our library had a book exchange. You could swap out your own books for one of theirs. One of the boys found a book called Orgy House. Needless to say that paperback was passed around for the rest of the year! It lived up to it's title.......
Linda- I've been finding Tastykakes everywhere. I've even seen individually wrapped ones at convenience stores on the east side. The s'mores Kandy Kakes are delicious!! They're definitely my favorite, but the chocolate bells are a close second.
I love the bun #3 at kien giang. I'm also excited to try the spaetzel at Veiner Fest. Mmmmmm schnitzel & spaetzel. That was a weekly thing growing up. I wish they had this bohemian roast my mom makes. Pork roast covered in caraway seed, served with potato dumplings topped with drippings. Or "greasy gravy" as we always called it.
I had to try it. Not awesome, not terrible. But I probably won't buy it again. An eccentric friend once made me a mac & cheese sandwich on grilled Tuscan bread with lettuce, tomato, & mayo. It was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had!
Angelo's Picnic Pizza in Antioch & Five Points Pizza are my favorite. Eastland Cafe has really good pizza for only $5 during happy hour. I like the Cajun pepperoni at Sam's too, but always have to tell them to go easy on the sauce. It goes great with their 2 for 1 happy hour.
Re: “The Weekly Open Thread, High Beer Tax Edition”
My experience is Chicago based & they're a lot denser. My gramma's dough recipe uses cream cheese. I'm excited to try Yeast's version too, especially if they're serving savory ones!
