@Antwan, you would probably get it about as quickly as I usually do at the restaurant....
I love the "young veal". That's right up there with "hot water heater" and "hose pipe"
Went over at lunch today and it's pretty darn good. Between us, we had the brisket sandwich, wings and pork sandwich. both the brisket and pork were really good but the wings were a pleasant surprise. I was expecting more of a smoked wing like Smoking Monday at the Corner Pub in Green Hills - which are exceptional. These were more bbq'd, if that makes any sense. They had a little bark, came sausy but not sticky. Really, really good. We had two sides, slaw and fries and they were both good but nothing outstanding. They've expanded their saused since you were there, Chris, and have 4-5. Took a small sample of each and thought they were good. Ended up switching between the hot and the Carolina vinegar. All in all, really good food and the staff went out of their way to help us. We'll be back - soon.
Wow, I must have gone on the one good night that he's had since he's been open based on all the other comments. I went about a year ago via a Groupon offer and had a really good meal. The butter thing, I didn't really get but our meal was really good. I honestly can't remember what I had but my wife had the bbq shrimp and loved it. We both commented on how good it was and were glad that we had tried it and promised to give it another try. We haven't yet but look forward to it.
I've also been at several caterred events at my daughter's school that he's done and they were all good, too.
oh my gosh, @Les Thugs. Pick me up off the floor. That might be the best blog I've seen in months. Already bookmarked.
Went by today for lunch to give it a try only to find it closed. The sign out front said they opened at 11:00 but it was 11:45 and no one in sight. No one but me and my dining companion and another group that drove up as we were walking away. Not a good way to gain a following.
Re: “Corky's Ribs and BBQ Founder Don Pelts Dies”
RIP Mr. Pelts. I worked in Brentwood when that shop opened and was excited to see some Memphis BBQ make its way east. I've never been a big fan of bbq joints that sauce the pulled meat before its served and Corky's is no exception. But their dry ribs are solid. For the longest time, it was Corky's or South Street if you wanted good, dry rubbed ribs. I am so glad that we now have many more great options now but have lots of fond memories of picking up slabs from Corky's drive-thru on the way home from work.
