Re: “Onstage at Nashville Opera's La Bohème, our reporter tries her best not to screw the Puccini

I once had an opportunity to be an extra in a major Hollywood movie being shot in my hometown, Kansas City, Missouri (GO Royals !!!). While I was standing around on the set with a dozen other extras, one of the casting directors came up and said that the movie's director wanted to talk with me. Curious, I followed him to where the director was sitting surrounded by crew members and camera equipment, and the latter asked me if I had every done any type of acting before. When I said that I did a couple of high school plays for a few laughs and giggles, he told a person standing next to him to find a hospital orderly uniform for me, since the movie set in a hospital and was being shot in a long-abandoned medical facility near the Liberty Memorial and Union Station.

I ended up playing a malicious, bullying orderly named 'Bill Roberts' who enjoyed tying patients laying down on gurneys REAL tight, until one of movie's leads, Kathy Baker, who played a doctor, finally ran up and stopped me from proceeding with my, um, 'fun' side job any further.

No dialogue for my character, and the scene only lasted a couple of minutes and didn't even make it in the final cut of the film when it was released in theaters. But yep, playing somebody else in a major artistic production, whether live or on film and in a speaking or non-speaking role, IS a lot of fun.

Ever ready for my close-up to do it all over again.

Re: “Once you leave the auditions for The Bachelor, single ladies, the real competition starts

With an older producer, better audition questions, an altered format and older bachelors/bachelorettes as the case may be, ABC might be on to something.

Depends on the guy, I suppose. And — speaking as a member of the female gender — we sure can dish it out, too.

Re: “Social inequality or not, folks at the Tennessee Renaissance Festival know how to throw down

My undergrad degree is in history so when I went to my first (and only) Ren Faire (this same faire though some years ago), I was kind of surprised at how much it resembled the Dark Ages and not the actual Renaissance. It's too much to type here, but for those interested in the actual period - here are a couple of good links. In the first, the author pretty much says everything I was thinking about the Ren Faire he attended.

Re: “Social inequality or not, folks at the Tennessee Renaissance Festival know how to throw down

Actually, 1593 would be the end of the Renaissance period, as the beginning of the Baroque period, coinciding with the invention of opera c. 1588, is often rounded to 1600. I believe Medieval would be pre-1450.

I am planning to open dozens of indoor trampoline park arenas in Australia.

I have decided to contact trampoline park equipment to get the things done. I think they are best in Trampoline Center`s business setup`s.

You can visit their link below: Please suggest if you have any better option.

Re: “Here's Mud in Your Eye

Abby, you probably don't know it, but bobsguns is a serious right-wing degenerate, whose entire existence on the planet revolves around his ownership of guns. You'd be well-advised not to encourage him.

" But unless I can figure out how to fashion a dress out of a tablecloth, I'm kind of stuck."

Dear Abby: In the South, when in need of dress material, ladies use curtains.
