Re: “Jerry Lee Lewis to Play the Ryman Oct. 4

We got another near-octogenerian to add to the awesome list, Merle (77) is gigging the Ryman later this month. But late August is technically fall, so never mind.

Re: “Thanks, Uncle Sam! Surveying Middle Tennessee's Military Toys

Why dies any police department need a mine-resistant vehicle?

Not to mention assault rifles.

Re: “Can Ferguson Happen Here?

While the parallels between St Louis & Nashville with respect to sub/urban development are no doubt interesting, I find the conclusion you're hinting at (that it's less likely to happen here because of consolidation, forgive me if i'm wrong) to be a bit hard to swallow. Local police forces have been militarized via the direct injection of subsidy and surplus from the federal government in pursuit of its various wars on victimless crimes. Consolidation makes this worse, not better.

Re: “19 Must-See Classic Clips From The Johnny Cash Show [Golden Nuggets]

Neil's appearance on the Johnny Cash Show was the catalyst for him recording Harvest at Quad. You can read the full story on Wikipedia. James Taylor and Linda Rondstat, who also appeared on that episode, dropped by the studio the next day and ended up providing back up vocals on "Old Man."

Also, can't forget this killer clip of KK. Lead guitar (Stephen Bruton, I believe) sounds like S/T era Sterling Morrison. Amazing.

Re: “The Daily Links: Ferguson, Editors, and the EPL

I'll say again, the governor of MO says it appears violence now is coordinated.

Of course we lump people together. What's happening in St Louis is a balck thing.

Think, if possible, in other situations. TheGermans voted, lawfully, to make Hitler their leader.
How's that for lumping. So, can I say Germans are to blame for millions of deaths or, well, you must not blame all Germans? The "Good German." JC, blacks are a group, like it or not. Your assumptions about me are at best unfair.

It is estimated 300 mil Muslims are extremists/radical. A group of Muslims whose beliefs are simply unacceptable.

Re: “The Daily Links: Ferguson, Editors, and the EPL

Jim,

"IF he was shot in the car in the top of the head, he would have died immediately"

That's not necessarily true. It's the way to bet, but still an assumption not yet proven by the autopsy results.

Re: “Cooper: 'Excessive Force Has No Place in America'

Prag and JC, I see reports now from MO gov'r....violence may be coordinated.

It will be interesting to see JC squirm if people are killed because of the lack of firm quick action to stop criminal behavior by the mob. It apears the original protesters were peaceful.

Pragger-JC will not address some questions/issues I raise. He simply cherry picks...

Re: “The Daily Links: Ferguson, Editors, and the EPL

yoyojohn: IF he was shot in the car in the top of the head, he would have died immediately which by ALL accounts and the public disclosure of forensic evidence he did not> Hence you are wrong.

Looters are not the issue here, only the death of Mike Brown. BUT FYI Molotov cocktails were not thrown until the last night or two. In the beginning when the locals went all Rambo on the protesters, there was NO evidence of such. Again you are wrong.

You're less than intelligent and definitely racist tendency to lump all blacks in a group, or describe them as such denotes a complete lack of respect you have for people who are black. Hence you are racist IMHO, and again you are wrong. Those are MY feelings and hardly patronizing.

I am NOT paternalistic, I was raised to respect my neighbor and assist them when I am able, if so needed. I offer NO guilt, I am proud to feel as I do, and I have earned the right to feel this way. Once again (habitually) you are wrong. Do we see a pattern here?

Re: “We Try Again to Fix Our Domestic Violence Problem

We already have a drug court and environmental court, right? Nice to know the priorities. Better late than never is the best I can come up with.

Re: “We Try Again to Fix Our Domestic Violence Problem

I simply passed by and did not vote for Moreland. I was distressed somewhat that there was NO effective alternative, but at least I denied him my vote.

Re: “We Try Again to Fix Our Domestic Violence Problem

bubbadog, I was also one of the ones who wrote in another name in order to deny Moreland my vote. I didn't vote for Dexter, but I didn't know he was running.

I knew there wouldn't be enough write-ins for the same person to cause Moreland to lose, but it was very cathartic to make the gesture.

Re: “The Daily Links: Ferguson, Editors, and the EPL

OK... he gets in the patrol car going after the officer and the officer gets his weapon out, shoots hin in the top of the head.

As for protecting your property and life, JC. the looters were throwing blazing Molotov cocktails at you? Can you shoot or flee?

Blacks as a group, a failed culture with little hope for any betterment. Black hustlers flying in from all directions and the media, Democrats continually out to help them for a variety of reasons, some not so pretty. On one thing we do agree, JC- it is an awful situation after 50 years of wasted effort.. Those are my feelings, hardly racist; quite the opposite.

JC needs to re-examine his paternalistic, guilt ridden liberalism. He and his ilk have botched the attempt to help. God knows, not for lack of money.

Also, stop calling me yoyojohn.

Re: “We Try Again to Fix Our Domestic Violence Problem

When I got to Casey Moreland's name on the ballot, I wrote in the name of our cat Dexter. Apparently, a lot of other people had the same idea. I saw from the returns that more than 500 people voted for a write-in candidate in that race, far more than I saw for any other judicial election.

Not frequently, zoombob, occasionally. Typical of you to immediately distort for effect! THAT is the reason NO ONE takes anything you say seriously.

Re: “We Try Again to Fix Our Domestic Violence Problem

It depends on how effective this "fix" will be. The problem with courts is that they deal with problems after the fact. Perhaps more safe havens, more education, and more transparency would also be of service.
