Re: “Bad Cop's 'Light On' [Fresh Vid]

Badcop sounds absolutely nothing like Turbo Fruits. The guitar riff in this song > butter. the whole record.

Re: “Four stories of immigrant mothers who braved hard work, perilous journeys, even separation to raise their children as U.S. citizens

>>"illegals" (an epithet, to her mind)<<

Ask those immigrants who did the LEGAL route what they think about "illegals". I'm also sure child molesters also think that description is an "epithet" in their minds as well.

Re: “When your mother becomes someone you recognize less and less, and vice versa

Mr. Pagetta, I am truly sorry for those like you whom are in that position with a parent. I hope my mom doesn't get to that point as I have seen other friends' moms get. It's heartbreaking & depressing & never really goes away or gets better.

May kindness shine upon both you & your mother.

Re: “Haslam Vetoes Ag Gag Bill

Simply amazing to read the retarded comments from the libtards. Here Haslam does the VERY thing they were urging him to do & GD if y'all don't turn right around & slam him for doing it.

Congrats, if anyone ever had ANY doubt, liberalism IS a mental disease.

Re: “The Hippodrome: They Still Race Horses, Don't They?

Why not build a legitimate horse track out there and give the Kentucky Derby a run for its money?

Re: “We Might Be Rednecks, Natalie Grigson Might Be a Dumbass

@Mark Rogers: "Nashville is either redneck or it isn't."
Not really, that would assume an absolute and we all know there are NO absolutes, which in and of itself is an absolution! Nashville has qualities of many different cultures, be they redneck, sophisticated, and/or various other descriptions. IMHO Pith derides the falsities of assumption that most often rule our rhetoric. While it is far from perfect, and often rife with absurdity, it does stimulate discourse, which is it's mission is it NOT?

Re: “We Might Be Rednecks, Natalie Grigson Might Be a Dumbass

@Min: I was about three years old and had never seen or heard, that I know of, of a snake. Mom was around back making lye soap in a black kettle and when I looked down and saw that snake head I didn't know what it was, but I took off running for her. It ended up with a neighbor from across the road sticking a shotgun under the board and blasting the snake. At the time Dad was out in California picking fruit for the cash money - he rode the freight trains four different times to do that - so maybe my memories of what my folks did to raise four kids is where I get my antipathy towards a government that gives out welfare to people who aren't truly desperate. (Cell phones, for Pete's sake. Did you notice my segue? Can't help myself.)

@ Mark Rogers: Nice point about The Scene's staff.

Favorite Foxworthy joke: You might be a redneck if you think a family reunion is a good place to meet women.
Second favorite: You might be a redneck if you use your wife's ear rings for fishing lures.

A Measure of the Sin: Prescient of the terrible Cleveland tragedy! The women bonded as a captive family and only one dared to attempt the escape from the childhood fears, to soaring joys and tenderful love! Freedom from the tyrant! The healing begins.

Dissimilar stories! ART imitating life once again!

Signature by Hannah Kahn C1954

If I sing because I must
being made of singing dust,

and I cry because of need
being born of watered seed,

and I grow like twisted tree
having neither symmetry

nor the structure to avert
the falling axe, the minor hurt,

yet of one thing I am sure
that this bears my signature,

that I knew love when it came
and I called by its name.

Re: “Local Filmmakers' A Measure of the Sin Tonight at Belcourt

Hannah Kahn: One of Americas greatest poets.
Suddenly she became a widow, Frank the love of her life was gone.
Now it was just Hannah and Vivian. VIVIAN by Hannah

All things inanimate because of her are brought to bloom
By her own light she brings a star into a room
As though a match were held against a shadowed wall
she, by her touch, can make full-blown what had been small.

Like any Great Woman and Mother, Hannah took a job in a North Miami family furniture store. She stayed in the Arts by volunteering as our part time assistant poetry editor for our Florida Arts Gazette.

This beautiful soul left a void in our earthly domain when she joined the angels in 1989.
I Thank you Hannah Kahn for bringing your luminosity into our lives.
I think of you often. You live in my heart.

Re: “Local Filmmakers' A Measure of the Sin Tonight at Belcourt

An anonymous Irish poem from another age, timeless in it's inspiration. Enjoy!

"I walked a mile with Pleasure. She chatted all the way.

But I was none the wiser For all She had to say!

I walked a mile with Sorrow And not a word said She,

But Oh! The things I learned from her

When Sorrow walked with me." .....An Anonymous Irish Poem

Re: “We Might Be Rednecks, Natalie Grigson Might Be a Dumbass

Wife and I moved here from the kountry 18 months ago and I sure miss my redneck friends. They are nicer than the folks here 'cause you gotta behave in a small town 'cause everybody knows what yer doin. Rednecks are sweet and if yer broke down they will stop in scores to help you even if you have an Obama sticker on yer truck. I have encountered self styled rednecks from the west coast and mid-west and they think to be a redneck you gotta be Mr. Badass, which is wrong. That's what makes you an ASSHOLE which is a rung below White Trash, and White Trash is a very sad state to be in!
Go see my friend Big Smo at the Exit Inn Saturday night and you will feel Redneck Love!

Re: “Local Filmmakers' A Measure of the Sin Tonight at Belcourt

A Measure of the Sin: Who in their right mind would try to please everyone. It is accomplished in all of the arts by gently stroking the Emotions, the emotions of the performers touching the viewers, or readers, and in so doing, turning them into participants. Apathy is failure. Emotional response is success!
