Re: “Tamarind Indian Bistro

Tamarind's is a fine place to eat: savory lamb vindaloo, delicately flavored biryani, fluffy naan, puffy poori and tasty aloo gobi.

Re: “The Groove Records

The best record store in town! They've got a great selection from soul to punk to local artists, and the folks that work there are awesome. Plus they have in-stores with awesome bands.

Re: “Alegria Mexican Restaurant and Tequila Bar

This restaurant is by far the best Nashville has to offer in the Mexican/Latin fare. Everything is fresh, starting with the salsa and chips. I highly recommend it if you are looking for an elevated Mexican meal that goes beyond the Tex-Mex.

Re: “Cantrell's Bar-B-Que

Caution!!! Do not go!! This place is filthy (roaches on the floor), the food was under cooked, and they tried to over charge me. Very shady. Would never go back.

The King and I (August 1 through 17, 2013) at the Larry Keeton Theatre is fantastic! Great voices, elaborate costumes, wonderful choreography, well paced and acted. Bravo!

Re: “Carmike Hickory 8

I am giving a four star rating... cost of a movie and refreshments is very reasonable. Even though the theater is dated, the facilities were clean. Friendly and courteous staff is a plus as well.

Re: “Carmike Hickory 8

I read all of the comments and found the ones with negative responses to be over exaggerated. I agree it is not the most updated theater but the prices in our current economic situation is affordable for all incomes.

I have attended movies there for the past 3 years, several times a week and never encountered a rude employee, from the ticket seller to the guy who takes the ticket.
I have eaten the popcorn and never gotten a steal batch.
The Theater itself is not the newest but it is comfortable. Yes, some seats are not in tip top shape but how hard is it to slide over or find a new seat.
I have never seen any problems where the patrons are concerned . Patrons are always respectful and considerate to fellow show goers during the show.
As far as the bathrooms are concern they are not that bad. It is the people who are using them that practice bad hygiene that cause the stench and mess. The toilet paper and hand towels that are not replaced is not uncommon for many places. I have been in four star restaurants where that has been the case. I have seen that situation in many places and venues. If there is no toilet paper in the one you choose ,before you sit your ass down use your common sense and go to management and inform them. Not only will you have toilet paper but the person after you will not have encounter the same problem.

This theater is a gift in this day and age. It affords people and families a night out on the town without causing a financial burden.

Re: “International Market And Restaurant

I dont know how ANYONE can give this place anything else except 5 or more stars. I love their food. Exspecaly the shu- mi, Bamboo shoots & Chicken in curry sauce, fried rice, beef with green peppers and other delights. Chicken on a stick, egg rolls so much more delicious food I could eat it all. It has a very uniquie atmosphere. The people there are always friendly and omg the smell of the food makes your mouth water before you even see the food, GO THERE DON'T MISS OUT. A loyal diner for many many years!!!!

Re: “Sip Cafe

On a hot afternoon, swing by here and grab some delicious Mikes Ice cream. They have a fun variety of flavors... may I suggest coffee and red velvet cake! Super rich and creamy! Small cups start at $3.50

This cute little coffee shop also offers some local art to enjoy while waiting line, and if you like it, at home. It's right next to Mitchell Delicatessen and within walking distance of a few other cool vintage/artsy shops.

Re: “Bailey and Cato Family Restaurant

The words "deep fried cornbread" echoed in my mind for months after reading an article about Bailey and Cato on the Bites blog. The other day, i just so happened to be in the neighborhood and decided to give it a go. It was a low key Sunday afternoon, not to busy and as I waited in line, I pondered the menu. The special of the day? Brown gravy meatloaf with two veg for $6? Classic fried chicken with two veg $7 ($7.5 for white meat)? or do i go the BBQ route. The pork shoulder sandwich sounded good too (around $4.50). Decisions, decisions. As i approached the front counter, I could visually begin to narrow down my options. In the end, I opted for the smoked white meat chicken ($7.5). For my two sides i got greens and creamed corn, and of course, the reason this establishment had beckoned to me in the first place, the deep fried corn bread. With a bottle of water, the tab was 9 bucks and some change. I paid, grabbed my food and headed for a table outside.

Overall, it was not the culinary adventure I had hoped. The chicken was dry, really dry. I know it was white meat chicken, but it was DRY. The flavor of the chicken was awesome, deep and robust. The greens were good. The corn was tasty, and the deep fried cornbread was good, but a bit bland. A side of honey for dipping would have been nice.

Will I go back? Yes, with a maybe...

I love this theater. It's great! The staff is really nice, and the building is just fine. The seats are comfy and the tickets are cheap! The popcorn is good! My family and I go here like every week, sometimes twice a week!

Re: “Ri'Chard's Louisiana Cafe

As a New Orleans native, I sincerely enjoyed and appreciated Ri'chard's Cafe'. There are a few restaurants dishing up Cajun, Southern and Creole cuisine in the Nashville Area but Ri'chard's offers "Langiappe"! That's French for, "A little bit extra". The food is delicious and the atmosphere is laid back and friendly. Richard Trest, the owner, is a working owner. Along side his restaurant staff, he cooks, cashiers brings food to the tables and even sits in with live bands contributing his awesome guitar playing or slapping the cajon but that's still not all! Richard is an accomplished musician himself and enjoys performing his own music for his patrons. It's all part of the experience expected and well-delivered at this establishment. Step into Ri'chard's Cafe' and find yourself in the deep south where the shrimp are frying and the file' gumbo is steaming. You may have just found your new kitchen-away-from-home! I did!
