Re: “Vampire Weekend at The Ryman, 4/5/10

Andrew J- blame it on PBS kids for introducing the tots to Vampire Weekend. Their use of "A Punk" has opened the door for a younger generation of hipsters. Even my 3 year old is on the badwagon. Although her favorite song is "Oxford Comma."

Re: “2010 Nashville Film Festival

Nashville Scene folks:
What's the use of looking at 24 slides if there are no cutlines. I have no idea what I'm looking at without some sort of description. Love the idea behind the slides but this missing informations is significant.

Re: “Vampire Weekend at The Ryman, 4/5/10

1 to 2 sentences underneath photos of a decent live show are no place for critique. A majority of these comments are dripping with snobbery, which only undermine the talent of the band, the credibility of the Nashville scene, and most importantly, the unspoken beauty of the Ryman Auditorium. Badly critiquing a show is fine. It will not bring back the band, ever. Congratulations. But, when I go to the Ryman, I expect to see class. And the same should go for the Scene.

Re: “Vampire Weekend at The Ryman, 4/5/10

I get the feeling that the same people that write this crap are the same people that sit around the majority of nashville shows judging and critiquing every note played instead of just enjoying the gift of music. I don't even really like vampire weekend all that much but your criticisms are jealous at best and insane at worst. You don't like them because they play (afro music), don't dress up, and sound too much like their records. How about giving us some useful information such as what songs they did play, how did the crowd receive them, what was the energy like and what young rock bands have played at the ryman lately and ? I wish I was in a band where the major flaw was we sounded too much like our records which are pretty good. Sometimes steering away from your records can be bad just go see a bob dylan show for proof. And please as a favor to everyone who enjoys live music please stay from Dr. Dog when they come to the mercy lounge.

Re: “Vampire Weekend at The Ryman, 4/5/10

This is a little pathetic. First of all don't hate them because they are preppy and went to an Ivy League school. Second of all what's wrong with being white and playing some afro-pop. Sounds like you guys are being a little racist. Third of all, don't be such hipsters.

Re: “Vampire Weekend at The Ryman, 4/5/10

Sadly for the Creamery All-Stars, the Vampires of the Weekend are pretty much cynicism-proof. I should know, I tried. Hard. I tried so hard it hurt the bowels of my unborn children. And, also, my bowels.

They're quite good, and, though "A-Punk" is hands-down their finest moment, thus far, it is by no means the be-all and end-all of their repertoire. If you wanna have a go at them, two words: boat shoes. My dad wears them. Or handlebar mustaches. My dad thinks they're lame.

Also, my wife went to the show, and she said there was a seven year-old next to her. Seven year-olds, dude.

WH, nice profile pic. SWC FTW.

Someone at Beggars told me that the woman in the pics is Ezra's mom. It looks like the kind of pic modeling agencies take of potential models to see if they're photogenic or something.

Re: “All the Starving Horses

What you people are doing is wonderful!!!!I have 3 horses, 1 I rescued from man that would get drunk alot and hit the pony. He is doing great now and is starting to trust people again. All my horses are loved and I wish I could take on more but can't with this economy. Also I'm working with the U.S.Humane Society to try and pass the bill Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act, to stop our American horses going to slaughterhouses in Mexico and Canada.I hope it gets passed soon,it makes me sick thinking about those innocent ponies and horses going through that awful pain. Keep up the good work and God Bless You.

Re: “All the Starving Horses

John - The remaining Cannon county horses - and some from Sumner - are with Volunteer Equine Advocates of Gallatin. (http://www.vea-tnhorserescue.org/) There are adoption applications on their website. Thanks!

Re: “All the Starving Horses

I would like to get some information on how to adopt one of these horses. If you could send it to me, I'd really appreciate it. I had a horse in Michigan that had been abused before, and he turned out to be a really good horse. I'd like to help with abused horses, but my funds are limited, but I'd be willing to give some time. Are they still being kept in Murfreesboro? Thanks for your time, jwp

Re: “10 Artists to Watch in 2010

To : Tyler Bryant and Ashley Monroe In your picture I see you are using Kustom " tuck and roll" amplifiers. I am the one that started Kustom. That was February 1963. I sold the company in 1974. Hope your amplifiers are working well. I would love to catch your show and hear those amps some day. Bud Ross
