Re: “Do you care if people use their cell phones at concerts?

While we're at it, can we ban 6'5" guys who shove in the front row just as the band begins at every GA venue in town? You know, the ones who never look behind them to see whose view they're about to block (and who may have gotten there hours early for a good spot, not that I'm bitter)?

Or the falling down drunks who now overpopulate the Ryman, screaming and "singing" through every song?

Honestly, I would pay (lots) extra to see a show with no alcohol. Now that Lower Broadway/bars are the big draw, it's way more about drinking than music a lot of the time. Good luck getting anyone to dial down the screaming a little or move over a scoche once they've had a few - they'll double down on the obnoxiousness just to show you who's boss. (Source: lots and lots and lots of experience at recent concerts.)

Re: “Do you care if people use their cell phones at concerts?

Let's get down to the nitty gritty: Using a cell phone camera to take photos and/or video at a concert and then post it to Facebook, or wherever, is 100% narcissistic. It is all about announcing to your fans that you are important/privileged/cool enough to be at that event. It's about YOUR fans, not BEING a fan of the musician/performer onstage. Compulsive cell phone use & subsequent social media posting at concerts uses the performer as collateral for your ego gratification. It is the height of disrespect toward artists who have traveled to provide you with a unique live experience.

Re: “Do you care if people use their cell phones at concerts?

It sucks to have to watch your favorite band through the hands of some jerk recording it. Those giant lit up screens take away from the performance !

Re: “Do you care if people use their cell phones at concerts?

depends on the venue, too. I've had some recent trips to the Station Inn effing ruined--I mean straight up ROINT--by some overzealous picture takers. Wrong venue, people.

Re: “Do you care if people use their cell phones at concerts?

The last time I saw Drivin' N' Cryin' at Exit/In (admittedly this was a few years back) it was through the phone screen of the d*bag in front of me. I'm not certain how Kevn Kinney maintained any sense of calm or focus with dude's phone aimed at his face from front row/center for the entire show. If people exercised common sense and courtesy, the world would be a better place.

Re: “Do you care if people use their cell phones at concerts?

I think there's a major difference between using your phone to take a picture or texting. Texting during the show is rude and makes me wonder why people paid the money to be there if they aren't going to pay attention. But I like to take some pictures (usually on my phone because it's easier to bring) for the memories and to share with friends that couldn't be there.

Re: “Do you care if people use their cell phones at concerts?

I think it's all about not being a jackass, which people have had a proven hard time with. When I went to see Twenty-one Pilots, the girl in front of me was so busy snap chatting the show, I couldn't see the stage. Additionally, when the performer is getting ignored because somebody has to text through it, I just wonder why you paid to be here instead of streaming via Spotify.

Re: “Do you like it when bands play a full album live?

I like it, but it's better when after the album, bands add on a few songs from other albums. Best of both worlds.

Re: “Which actor had the most embarrassing attempt at being a musician?

Why would you lump the most successful actor/rock star of all-time, with a bunch of failures...
just because you personally don't like Jared Leto's music. Of all the horrendous attempts at a musical career
over the years...why would you even put his name up as an option...That's just wrong.

Re: “Is Weird Al funny?

I don't think that's the kind of judgment call you can make after only reading two articles (out of literally thousands and thousands).

They post positive shit all the time. Just ask Jeff the Brotherhood :P

Re: “Is Weird Al funny?

This is the second article I am reading from the Nashville Scene and I have to say this. Can any writer write anything that is positive? The writers seem to be more interested in tearing down what others like simply because they don't like an artist.
