Re: “Sam's Sushi

#RIP Sams Sushi - as of Saturday he has closed the doors for good, selling all the restaurant equipment for a couple looking to open their own sushi restaurant. Customers received a parting gift with their more ample than normal orders - a solitary caramel chocolate candy. This place will go down as a place of Nashville legend. If you don't like it, get out.

Re: “Sam's Sushi

After reviewing the first post, I feel torn between a weird urge to take up for this place or to convey complete understanding of the previous reviewer's opinion. Sam's Sushi is the BEST sushi in Nashville. Hands down. No question. Cheap. Delicious. Fresh. GOOOOOOOOD. That said, Sam is, er....well..., Sam is direct. Sometimes, his abrupt communication style is taken too personally. Cultural differences between restaurant owners and the populations they serve may explain why some diners discredit the outstanding food quality Sam delivers. Quantity is a bonus, in my opinion. Food quality is guaranteed... as long as you don't get too sensitive when you dine out. :) Sam once told me that my last name means 'Shame' when translated as his native language. Honestly, I'm glad to know that the best Nashville sushi comes with a side of snarky truth. Laugh it off and enjoy the food. That's the secret to making Sam like you, by the way. As the other rules you should follow? Well, you'll see...... I think it's worth whatever you may experience. Happy dining! - Regina Hodge :)

Re: “Samurai Sushi

Best sushi in the city! Always great food and atmosphere, service is a little slow; but you should never be in a hurry to enjoy sushi; have a little sake and relax and enjoy the day.

Re: “Wild Wasabi

Obviously if you eat hereyou have never eaten at Ru-Sans. DON'T waste your money, sushi was all rice with little fish, the rolls are the smallest I have ever seen and the choices were minimal!!!
Ru-Sans lunch buffet is soooo much BETTER!!!

Re: “Happy Eating [Closed]

It's Japanese food from a truck! Where else are you gonna find this? Incredible food for and incredible price. And also incredible people working it. It's a win all around. It's worth it to buy from it no matter where you go.

Re: “Watanabe

I thoroughly enjoy Watanabe for the service and the food. I always order panoply of sushi. I usually order too much, but I like having my own personal buffet. Their fish is top shelf! It’s the only sushi restaurant in Nashville that has real crab and Copper River Salmon. Even the more expensive sushi houses in town don’t offer real crab on their menu, and that automatically warrants a “B” review for them. I’ve indulged in some delicious daily specials – shrimp wontons with mango sauce to duck breast with cabbage in a red wine sauce. The drinks are amazing, with as much flare as Patterson House. The bartenders know how to make any drink you can think of; plus all the classics. They make their own syrups and also have an excellent sake selection. I’ve always had excellent service at Watanabe, and the bartenders are the friendliest in town.

Love it!!! The owner is wonderful, their banchan rocks, and it's some of the best Korean food in Nashville.

Re: “Samurai Sushi

Best sushi on the planet. Seriously. Try the specialty rolls with fruit on top. Crowd favorites are Choo Choo roll, Iron Miss roll, and Volcano roll. Even great rolls for those like me who do not eat raw fish or seaweed!try the Happy roll,Hawaiian, or Aloha roll. Made with shrimp or crab and wrapped in soy paper and topped with fruit! Amazing!
This place will spoil you!

Re: “Zumi Sushi Japanese Kitchen

Delicious! I just ate lunch at Zumi and was impressed by everything. The servers at the counter were very courteous and knowledgeable of the menu.

My chicken yakitori skewers were amazing! They came out a few minutes after I sat down, and they were hot, fresh, and delicious. My order came with five skewers, and they were garnished with scallions and served with a peanut sauce. The chicken was hot and juicy.

My sushi roll (Tropical Crunch) came out next. This roll combined eel and pineapple in a delectable combination. The savory eel and the sweet pineapple were fantastic complements, especially with the "crunchies" and eel sauce topping the roll.

Everyone at the restaurant was very nice, and I enjoyed my meal in the comfortable, fun atmosphere. I will definitely be back!

Re: “Ichiban

It's a MUST when we hit 2nd Ave on Saturday night. I highly recommend the Norway Roll with hot sake and green tea ice cream for dessert.
