Re: “Art Nashville

Heard Keith Urban make the statement in a documentary that "Nashville is the last artists' colony left on the planet."....heartbreaking and inspiring at the same time - now, where ARE the architects??????????? Please come and rescue our skyline from pseudo-hip buildings that will make us cringe in five years!

Re: “Art Nashville

The exhibition also features younger Nashvillians like Richard Greathouse, whose portraits are among the best being painted today, and Amanda Hope Cook. Her views of neon signs make you see the city like you haven't seen it before. Cathy Moberg's ceramic trompe l'oeil sculptures are also a must see. If you're not careful, you might mistake them for gallery decor and not the exquisite art pieces they are. Jody Thompson, who's been a fixture in the Nashville artistic community for 15 years, has a grouping of still lifes. They're of everyday objects but they are arranged and painted in a loving manner, more like a portrait. With the mix of youth and Nashville legends, the show is a wonderful encapsulation of the remarkable visual arts that Nashvillians have and are producing. Nashville isn't just a music town anymore. Let’s celebrate our music, our food and now our art.

Do you have to be 21 to go to this?

This is a great event, but what an awful writeup.
