I discovered The Royal Court of China via MTV when I was in high school (pretty sure that's the ONLY time that ever happened) and I loved both albums (uh...I think I need that EP...anyone?). Anyway, I was THRILLED when they reunited those couple of times here in town over the last few years and I even met Robert right before the Emporium opened and he was very gracious with my fan boy questions. One of my favorite bands from my youth and this town helped me see 'em live! Very cool!

13 juni kan ik nog mooi meemaken, aan de boorden van de Cumberland River...
love the mention of california, my fav mr. bungle record. it is a classic, and i find that i listen to it over and over at various times. if you haven't heard it, or dismissed mr. bungle altogether, do yourself a favor, and get this record!!
"Dad always said that bacon … really suited us," Alex said between sobs as his therapist handed him a box of tissues.
It's not really curmudgeony to point out when the sound at a concert is lousy. It's kind of important, IMHO, and Cannery continues to be an audio debacle.
Man. Those "Nashville Dancin" lineups are somethin'.
Interesting omission from your overall list...Davis Deluxe...In 1984, in Music Row Magazine, Robert K. Oremann called their debut single release, "One Of A Kind", "The best rock-a-ballad I've heard by a Nashville band...Sung by an ace rock stylist...This act could go far"...Followup recordings were met with even greater critical acclaim, including a Billboard Recommended review for their third single, "When The Lights Go Down" as well as another glowing review in Music Row by Bob Oremann for it...The band continued on until the early '90's with some of Nashville's heavy hitter session players becoming members at times, including drummer Kenny Buttrey and guitarist Bucky Barrett...Yes, I knew the band personally, hence the "plug", just filling in some blanks...
Little known fact: The Bacon Brothers were a trio as children until Kevin and Michael kicked out their little brother for being a closet vegetarian.

Harsh critics. I think no other venue (minus Ryman) would have been more worthy & appreciative of having The Breeders grace their stage. So yeah, the sound wasn't perfect.....I'm not a fucking sound engineer, or deaf, and I don't have a huge complaint in that department. It was warm, but when you damn near sell-out a venue, all those bodies create heat. Why is everyone in Nashville such an unworthy nitpicking critic??? Thank you Drew M. & Cannery for an amazing night.
That's right bitches, bacon suits!
