Re: “Why Aren't Any Nashville Artists Playing Foo Fighters’ 20th Anniversary Blowout in D.C.?

It has to be because they are planning a special show in Nashville. Something tells me we will find out tomorrow!

It was a subtle statement about not wanting to use a racist team name anymore. Glad you picked up on it.

But to answer your question, yes. I "have Google."

The Washington football team are the Redskins. You had it correct. Do you not have google?

Re: “Watch Olivia Jean Play 'Merry Widow' on Conan

@John. I think you're mistaking an example for a comparison. Also, has #OliviaJeanghazi started gaining traction on the TMR boards yet?

It's a hard row to hoe writing a song more bland and banal than "My Hero," but Grohl managed to pull it off.

I cant believe someone would compare this chick to Johnny Cash. Wow. Maybe their hair color? or she kind of looks like a wannabe June Carter Cash. But no. Hell no. blasphemy.

Jack White's chauffeur probably can sing better. Give him a record deal.

Maybe they feel like we had some misplaced sense of entitlement.

To be fair, Johnny cash did kinda trivialize murder, but it was cool.

Johnny Cash didnt trivialize murder, follow hipster trends or try to profit by writing craptastic songs.

Nope! Just think it's a dull song.

I think "Banal and Bland" are pretty harsh words and clearly just being used because you're feeling aggrieved no Nashville acts made it on to the line up.

Re: “Why Aren't Any Nashville Artists Playing Foo Fighters’ 20th Anniversary Blowout in D.C.?

If I were to guess, it's because the date is smack in the middle of summer festival season, and since most of the artists in the Nashville episode are probably past the age where they're planning on being on the road all summer (or still down with traveling 12 hrs between gigs) it might be a stretch to commit to a thing like that 7 something months in advance.

But hey - they've got time to sort this out.

Re: “Gang of Four to Play Mercy Lounge March 14, Continue Trend of Under-Manned Punk Reunions

Saw Paul Westerberg do a solo show with a hired-hand backup band about ten years ago in Columbia, Missouri. It was just like seeing The Replacements in their infamous prime with the Stinson brothers on guitar and Chris Mars on drums.

Paul was the whole show, with his gravelly bark of a singing voice and sneering f-you attitude towards the audience in between songs.

I'm in love/With that song(writer), however he can be seen performing either alone or in a reconstituted band.

Re: “Lunchtime Poll: Should Cellphones Be Allowed at Concerts?

I am in the camp that feels there is nothing wrong with snapping one or two pics while being discreet. Regarding standing during shows, I love to be on my feet and let the music move me a little bit (no flailing), but above all being considerate of others nearby. That means not being the only one standing in the surrounding area. In general I remain seated until my view is blocked by those in front of me who are standing, after that I figure it's fair game, and if you're behind me and want to see the band you're gonna have to stand too.

I'm a deadhead so it's a nobrainer when I see Bobby, Phil and the like. All standing all the time! Sit during the ballads if you like.

As long as Andy Gill still does this on stage, then fuck yeah I will be there.

Thank God Johnny Cash never wrote any songs about that stuff.

Oh yeah because serial rape and murder is just so goofy and cool. The people you are praising have no empathy. Are you going to wear her rape tshirt depicting a victim's bound hands to show off how much of a fan you are? Terrible marketing. Terrible music.

Re: “Bluebird Cafe to Close in June, Will Become Jimmy Buffett’s Cheeseburger in Paradise

With all the money in Nashville, I can't believe someone can buy the Bluebird and move it elsewhere in Nashville so it can live on.

Re: “Chrissie Hynde Hindered by Smartphones at Rockin' Ryman Gig

If you read her Facebook, it tells the tale. She did not comment on the Ryman show, instead stating the following day that Charlotte has the nicest people and that she needs nice pills. I wouldn't go that far but a few anti asshole pills would come in handy. I've reconciled the fact that I like her music but don't care for her personally - much like my love hate relationship with Axl Rose/ early gnr music. Like Kevin L said...win some, lose some.
