You can come over and pet Otis the Cat anytime you like. She is a sociopath, but her fur is very soft.

Just what the proverbial doctor ordered for any person (gender irrelevant) who thinks that he/she will find that equally proverbial true and lasting love match on reality TV shows like 'The Bachelor' or 'The Bachelorette'---

A four-legged domesticated animal who is always there to render a warm snuggle, a wet kiss, and bottom-less love and devotion.

And even when it is not feeding time.

Re: “For a longtime Scene writer, the public debate over sexual assault is personal

I read this and I feel like I have been punched in the stomach. Could have been reading an excerpt from my own biography. Thanks for sharing.

'It's people.' Thank you for taking the time to write about this very important topic and to you and your family's sacrifices for our country.

Re: “Sick of all the Nashville transplants? Chances are, you were once one too

Southern accents are becoming rare in large Southern cities like Nashville and Atlanta, because of the influx of transplants from outside the region.

But most people who don't live here don't believe that. Their only knowledge of the South comes from movies and TV, and they're convinced everyone in the South talks like Jethro Bodine or Buford T. Justice. Heck, even the natives don't talk like that anymore (if they even did).

Re: “Sick of all the Nashville transplants? Chances are, you were once one too

Apparently it's necessary for me to point out that, as a former Yankee — or Midwesterner, or whatever you want to call people from central Illinois — I did not move to Nashville expecting to find a bunch of moonshine-drunk, barefoot people. I didn't know what I was going to find, because I'd never been here, and this was before you could virtually visit a city online.

What I *did* find was a community that I fell in love with. A community with an impressively high concentration of creative, hardworking people — some natives, some transplants — who were looking for a home, a place to build a life. Of course, this can be found in communities all over the world, but what I found here was home to me. I just hope this community can still be that open to people moving here, as the city is changing so rapidly.

And of course, there are assholes, native and transplanted assholes. Assholes are everywhere, but they're pretty easy to avoid, no matter where they come from.

Oh, and Fling Tea? I don't remember the exact recipe, but I remember a giant vat filled with pineapple juice, tea, TONS of sugar, and flies. Lots of flies. I seriously had nightmares about spilling the Fling Tea on that poor businessman ... the glasses at the Cooker were huge, and the Fling Tea soooo sticky. Yuck.
