Re: “The Young Nashvillians Reunion Show: Tickets Going Faster Than Shoney's Ice

Hello, world! TYNs here. We really recommend getting your tickets now, to be sure you get in. It's a one-night reunion. The club isn't huge, so we will quite likely run out of space, and are not sure whether or not there will be a second set. No time like the present. Love, The YNs

Re: “Spurgeon’s General Warning: I Like Coldplay

I did see Coldplay live once, at the Ryman. They played "Ring Of Fire". it was... pleasant. Didn't make me a fan though. Parachutes and Rush Of Blood sell incredibly well on vinyl to this day at Grimey's (the others not so much). That earns my respect if nothing else.

Re: “Lunchtime Poll: What's Your Favorite Fart Song?

I presume the point is that the Seger song is one big long OLD fart noise.

This link below is for "The Lion of Judah," one of the many good small-group records made by subgroups of the Ellington orchestra, this time under the leadership of Rex Stewart. Rex begins the song by imitating a lion on his horn, and it's not a bad imitation, but it does sound a bit like something else.

Re: “Spurgeon’s General Warning: I Like Coldplay

They're like the Counting Crows of Brit Rock. No thank you.

(Might have covered Clocks a few times. Only for the tip jar, harrumph harrumph...)

Re: “Spurgeon’s General Warning: I Like Coldplay

I owned several Coldplay albums in college and have not listened to any of them in many years. What I don't know is whether this is due to embarrassment or changes in taste. There is the distinct possibility that I am a closeted Coldplay fan.

The lyrics should be look at the mess in the pretty dress who's talentless. I saw this girl open for Jack in Jacksonville. She was terrible.

Re: “Jack White to Play Bridgestone Arena Jan. 28

Wow I am just shocked and appalled at the way someone can be so harsh about female singer. Give OJ a tru chance to come into her own a start to shine. I really enjoyed the last half of her set in cleveland when she started to loosen up. An honestly Jack white is gonna do his thing whether people approve of all his choices or not. I would say he's got the smarts and has done pretty well thus far. Another thing as far as OJ goes I really like all the love and support she is getting from her TMR family besides Jack. Dominic Davis and Fats Kapalan were out there watching her whole set in Cleveland as well and they are very talented in their own rite! So kudos to you guys for supportin your home girl. Congrats Jack as always on the accolades. And I am sure no matter the opener Jack will blow the audience away and give them a show to remember. Show some adopted hometown love. Peace to you all.

Re: “Jack White to Play Bridgestone Arena Jan. 28

Personal note to my "nonverbal communicating music buddy" Jack White:

[I will buy 1 ticket 4 this show & c u then Jackie Boy, but if u have oj open 4 u I will give up on any redemption 4 u & shit can ur ass 4ever in my book.]

EXTRA NOTES:

(1) I truly hate the Bridgestone Arena for live music shows but there's no other venue in Nashville that can hold all of Jack White's fans at one time so I will make an exception for this show. I'll do it for Daru Jones, the drummer in Jack White's solo band who I first saw at Third Man Records in their Blue Room, when I went to my first rap show there and saw Black Milk & band (with drummer Daru) from Detroit. I saw Daru a second time at the Ryman when he was in Jack White's band during his first solo tour in 2012.

I can recommend this show to rappers so they too can see "Brother Daru" drumming in his ultimate glory in Jack White's solo band.

(2) Congratulations to Jack White for receiving the NSAI's Songwriter/Artist of the year award at the recent Songwriters Hall of Fame inductions at the Music City Center. I think the NSAI would love for Jack to become a member of the NSAI, probably a 'Lifetime Member'. It might cost him some bucks but what the heck, Nashville loves Jack and Jack can keep showing his love for Nashville by dropping some bucks on the NSAI.

I bet there are a lot of NSAI members who would love to record a live album at Jack's Third Man Records. There's a lot of untapped talent in that bunch...just waiting to be tapped.

Re: “The Week in Fresh Tracks [Fly Golden Eagle, Earl Burrows, Good Sex, Olivia Jean, Classic Williams, The Lees of Memory]

Hey did you see this Spin Dudes?

I was checking stories over at www.musicrow.com and within the article 'Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Inducts Four' I found this:

"The Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) also presented its annual Songwriter Achievement Awards"...

"The Songwriter/Artist of the year was awarded to Jack White."

I don't know if Jack White belongs to the NSAI and didn't appear to attend the ceremony (not in any of the photos taken) but at least the NSAI gave him some credit for what he's been up to.

Re: “Insurance Hikes Keep Hip-Hop Out of This Weekend's SoNa Fest

At best this is a ham-fisted misunderstanding over the difference between "hip hop" and "THAT kind of hip hop."

At worst, this is thinly-veiled racism.

EDM is a much riskier event, in my useless opinion.

Re: “Diarrhea Planet, Loose Jewels [Review]

Have to respectfully disagree just being honest. These are some great tunes for kids tat work go to an average college or work full time or both and just like to have some banging tunes.

There lyrics can actually be heavy despite the sound check out the lyrics available fr their first album. Also their second album is great to drive to, its just a blast.

Give the lyrics a listen again. Embrace the youthful feeling it imparts. We know not everyone's life is perfect, but their lyrics would agree.

Re: “Mystery Buyer Saves Studio A [Updated]

Ed Russell Castle Records,

I am glad you are happy to be able to stay in the office you are in. I just hope the new owner will get together with everyone that rents there and discusses having your own environmental inspections and testing done. For example, testing for mold in the air ducts and asbestos in the flooring for everyone's health in the building and for visitors too.

I did a quick www search for "mold in air ducts" and "asbestos in flooring" and found lots of info on both for inspecting, testing and addressing the problems.

I once dealt with an issue with a building built in 1977. I was concerned about the little bit of vinyl flooring that was left in the building containing asbestos and what to do about it. I contacted the Nashville city building representative that handles asbestos issues. Because of the age of the building the rep told me the old vinyl flooring most likely contained asbestos and advised me that it wasn't necessary to remove the old vinyl flooring but it should be painted over to hold in the asbestos fibers so they don't get into the air and get breathed in.

Way back in my army AIT (Advanced Individual Training), in the industrial hygiene portion of the training, I learned that it only takes one small asbestos fiber to get into the lungs to cause lung cancer later on in life. One small fiber can get into the lungs and decades later a person may be diagnosed with lung caner from it. This should be a concern for everyone spending time in the building but especially for young people and children visiting there.

I understand the new owner, AMT Trust (a nonprofit) will be looking for another buyer, a "preservation minded buyer" to buy the building from the AMT Trust to preserve the building "as is", for what it is, mainly a historical and still functioning recording studio. Buying the building and keeping it "as is" without your own inspections, testing and remediation may not be the best thing for everyone's health in the meantime.
