Re: “Robert Earl Keen: The Cream Interview

The show was great, but then, it was Robert Earl Keen, and he always puts on a great show. The writer missed that "Paint the Town Beige" was originally recorded on the Bigger Piece of Sky album, which is from early - to - mid 90's. But overall, a pretty solid article.

Re: “Brentwood Developer Sets Stage for Demolition of RCA Studio A

@roadiegarth - Actually Tim Reynolds does know the buildings are separate but he just doesn't care. He knows all of this.

Re: “Brentwood Developer Sets Stage for Demolition of RCA Studio A

From producer/engineer Warren Peterson: What Mr. Reynolds and his expert team of mechanical and electrical engineers seem to be unaware of is the fact that studio A and the 3 story office space are actually two completely separate buildings, built on two different foundations, with separate HVAC, and separated by an expansion joint. The office building was completed long before construction of the studio ever began. The non compliant elevator, rest rooms, stairwells, front and back entrance, corridors and water fountains are all part of the office building. The leak on the roof is at the expansion joint that separates the two buildings.
As for the studio control room, all hazardous materials were removed when it was gutted in June 1989, prior to my occupancy of the space. I rebuilt the control room according to codes, including a new 200 amp electrical panel, and new wiring runs for all outlets, lights, and switches, as well as runs for tech power. So tear down the office space, but SAVE STUDIO A.

Re: “Watch David Olney and the X-Rays Kill It on Austin City Limits in 1982 [Golden Nugget]

The first time I saw David Olney fall to the floor of the stage as "they turned out the lights"
performing "The Contender" at The Night Flight Cafe in Savannah, Ga.. I knew we had Rock and Roll authenticity and greatness amongst us, in our very circuit of bands and songwriters!
It meant that this pursuit of art/music/drama had appeared as Truth and I had been a witness, transformed,.....from that moment, we new it could exist and it could be done, It Was Real!!!

Re: “Slideshow: Sad Dads at One Direction

well the pics look like they were before the show or during intermission so there is an obvious lull when the pictures were taken. Funny enough the pictures I have seen with dads they were smiling and having a good time.

Re: “Robert Earl Keen: The Cream Interview

Heading to Centennial Park today. It will be great. Great interview, and I found an album I don't have.... I have heard or own most of the songs, but not West Textures.

Re: “Brentwood Developer Sets Stage for Demolition of RCA Studio A

Has anyone at the country music hall of fame said anything anywhere about this building being torn down?

Re: “Brentwood Developer Sets Stage for Demolition of RCA Studio A

Just The Facts said:

"The extensive, passionate comments above from harmony partners "truth be told", "change can be good", "let's be real" and "the times, they r a changin" about the joys of tearing buildings down and saving people from indoor air pollution and radioactive asbestos and falling debris are fascinating. They wrote this stuff all weekend long while the rest of us were at the lake or spending time with our families over the Labor Day holiday. I wonder what they do for a living?"

I think this bears repeating. I'm no investigative reporter, but it kinda seems like somethin' fishy is going on around here.

To "my vote"and "more cowbell", You ARE "letsbereal" You should try being a "real person".
Poor Mr. Reynolds is paying $150 an hour to Seigenthatler for your $15 an hour Belmont intern fake posts. It's after 5 on Friday. You worked all weekend last weekend and you really should take the weekend off. Mr. Reynolds is really rich but when he wakes up and realizes how bad he's being manipulated and ripped off by you he will be pissed. We're not 9 year olds. Nobody believes your recipe book fake posts!

Re: “Guided by Voices to Play Mercy Lounge Oct. 24; Jonathan Richman Returns to The Stone Fox Nov. 25

GBV is on fire right now. The set in Louisville was awesome. They're having fun, and Kevin March, the old/new drummer, has breathed new life into the live show. Don't fuck this up, Nashville!

Re: “The Black Belles' Olivia Jean to Release Jack White-Produced Debut Solo LP Oct. 14

To be fair I listened to all the music samples and watched the video. But I have to be honest after listening and watching everything I really don't like it. She doesn't have a good voice and they keep on stressing in the video how many instruments she plays but she doesn't play any of them well. I think when she was in The Black Bells this was not as evident because all the members of The Black Bells were on the same novice level she is on. But when you put her next to seasoned musicians who really can play it just highlights how untalented she really is. I can't believe Jack White produced a record that has the lyrics "And everywhere that I go, I wear my merry widow". What happened Jack used to be such a great producer and Third Man used put out records of really great musicians and artists. Sorry Jack, I tried to give it a chance but this is an all time low for Third Man.

Re: “Brentwood Developer Sets Stage for Demolition of RCA Studio A

@letsbereal - Studio A was always worth saving but no one knew it was in danger of being torn down until it was announced. That sale and changing of the guard happened in the dark of night, one work week before the closing. In less than a week of the leak that it was being demolished concerned people rose up and began action. To quote you, "I find it odd" that we would rally to save a building that no one so far had mentioned tearing down. #saveStudioA #shameonnashville

Re: “Brentwood Developer Sets Stage for Demolition of RCA Studio A

I worked in the RCA Studio A building 20 years ago. It was crappy then. Its a teardown. It was a teardown 20 years ago. Won't miss it at all.

Re: “The Black Belles' Olivia Jean to Release Jack White-Produced Debut Solo LP Oct. 14

It's not personal vendetta not to like her music. The lyrics sound trivial and her music is too heavily influenced by Jack. Did he help her right the songs too? This makes me more excited for Karen's new album. At least she doesn't need a sugardaddy!

Re: “Brentwood Developer Sets Stage for Demolition of RCA Studio A

I can't believe what I'm reading here. Quote from "letsbereal"...
"I find it odd no one in 24 years felt this property ( 30 Music Square West) was worthy of saving and now that a developer has recognized its value for re-development all of a sudden the property should be saved and considered historic…where have you drum beaters been for the past 24 years".

What a moronic statement! Was there an election that we all missed asking the citizens of this town if historic RCA Studio A should be saved or torn down? Nobody but this jerk would ever consider tearing down one of the most important music history buildings in the world! Who is this one of a kind freak from Brentwood anyway? I've been asking around and nobody seems to know much about him.

Re: “So, Tennessee Loves the '80s and Whitney Houston

Well, I know from melisma. It's a time-honored soul technique. It certainly changed over the years, from Aretha Franklin to Whitney. But essentially, it's the same thing over all that period. Mavis Staples. I love soul music, but you can overdo the melisma, the tricks. One great thing about straight pop singing is that the technique is masked, so it's just a person singing words. Aretha is great, but even she overdoes it at times, gets in the way of the words. It's not about technique. It's about communicating. Whitney Houston just plain makes me nervous: Yeah, she could sing. But what is the point of it all? Showing off what you can do?

Re: “So, Tennessee Loves the '80s and Whitney Houston

I love this so much, but I hate all the snarky melisma business. That's a 90s complaint. Get with the program goose. Quit disrespecting. we've gotten to a place where singers on the radio can't sing. So you melisma haters win? Nope. Vocal pop music is juvenile to say the least. Melisma is coming back. The next truly good singer to appear will probably be lauded because of her vocal ability, which will utilize melisma.
Melisma will come back around and be en vogue. Just like the JAMOCALYPSE is brewing in Nashville as we speak. ONE LOVE
