Re: “The Weekly Open Thread: Restaurants and Smartphones

If I'm dining solo, I use the smartphone a lot, mostly to kill time while waiting for the food to arrive. If I'm accompanied, much less so.

Re: “The Weekly Open Thread: Restaurants and Smartphones

Coffee shops would have much higher table turn rate if they banned laptops.

Re: “LP Field's New Concessions Disappoint Some Health Food Fans; Greer Stadium Food Gets Praise From PETA

Finally, somebody else who can't wait in line for a Titan Dog without considering concerns that might be raised by PETA.

Do you ever wonder if 'some' in the headline is really sneaky code for 'this is what I think'?

I live in this building and the resident's are very excited about this! I get "bacon heavy" but I'm sure there will be lighter offerings. Kaz is always great about cooking to order, as well!

Re: “Best in Chow Scours Nashville for the Best in BBQ and Hot Dogs

In a lot of these shows, Mr. Pink, they're limited by who is willing to participate. The crew did say that everywhere they went, HDD was mentioned to them as a valid competitor. Oh those shoestring fries!

Re: “LP Field's New Concessions Disappoint Some Health Food Fans; Greer Stadium Food Gets Praise From PETA

The Titans have aggressively polled their ticketholders for the last two seasons, held Q&As at LP, etc. If healthy choice menu items do not exist, it's probably because they weren't requested.

If you want peanuts in Club, you have to smuggle them in from the other sections. Apparently folks were thinking they were at Logan's Roadhouse and sweeping their hulls onto the (carpeted) Club floors. Peanut ban in Club ensued.

Re: “Antica in 5th and Main Closes

I do not mind the idea of something more straightforward American (and maybe kid friendly?) near my house. Sometimes I want something inexpensive, cheesy, and fried and there are only so many times I can eat at Pied Piper and The Pharmacy.

Re: “LP Field's New Concessions Disappoint Some Health Food Fans; Greer Stadium Food Gets Praise From PETA

sounds like great addition for a stadium to me. if the gluten free stuff doesn't sell then they wont offer it. there seems to be a lot of meatless options. it seems to me that when people have dietary preferences or requirements that they don't often do a lot to explore their options. you know what the healthy option would be? don't eat for a couple of hours! imagine that

the situation with the peanut reactions, however, is certainly a real concern. I think if I had that I just wouldn't eat at the games.

Re: “Swallow, Don't Spit: 'Oil Pulling' Is a Crime Against Food

You won't find much scientific evidence to support ANYthing that doesn't put money in the hands of pharmaceutical companies. All I know is that my bad breath has gone (I am a lot more confident when talking with people face-to-face), and I barely have anything in my teeth when I decide to floss.

And the word "waste" is relative. I'm not taking anything from you by using it for a different purpose. But if you can provide me scientific evidence that I AM wasting, I suppose you'd have a legitimate leg up in your argument?

Re: “Antica in 5th and Main Closes

Because. what East Nashville is sorely lacking is a sports bar with TVs and bacon--as close to the highway to the burbs as possible. Yep; that's the ticket. I've got a name for the place: Lowest Common Denominator's.

Re: “LP Field's New Concessions Disappoint Some Health Food Fans; Greer Stadium Food Gets Praise From PETA

It would be nice to have some back up reporting on this Greer Stadium ranking. I've seen this before, but I've been to Greer several times this year and veggie dogs and/or burgers are nowhere to be found - yes...I have asked! Greer Stadium food is the worst, nachos, pizza or hot dogs are your options. C'mon Leslie, a little legwork here to debunk this fraudulent award.
