Re: “The Weekly Open Thread: What's Your Favorite Veggie Burger?

My fave is Germantown Cafe's veggie burger. The proportions of the pattie with bun and toppings are perfect.

The Sunflower Cafe has THE BEST vegan burger in town. And I love that you can get it on a bun, over a salad, over quinoa and steamed kale, etc. they also make a killer garlic aioli sauce that is the perfect condiment. YUM!!!

Burger Up quinoa burger forever! Also have to throw Phat Bites in there - their burger is made mainly with black beans and cashews and topped with whatever flavour hummus you want. Definitely need a fork for it, but it's good.

Re: “The Weekly Open Thread: What's Your Favorite Veggie Burger?

One of my top picks for veggie burger is provided by Food and Company's kitchen and consumed at Greenhouse. I think it has some great spices in it, and it has the perfect amount of crunch (and we can't forget about those TOTS!) Very similar to one of the reasons I like the Quinoa burger at Burger Up...the crunchy outside is something I love about veggie burgers.

Re: “OrderUp.com Debuts New Delivery Service, and We Try It Out

fwiw, it seems to default to 'featured' restaurants, and if you make sure to choose the 'all' tab, the list should get longer. Mine went from 3 to 8 that way (Nippers Corner area). But yeah - it's all pizza and kabob here, which was a bit disappointing given my relative proximity to the cornucopia of international delights that is Nolensville Rd.

Re: “The Weekly Open Thread: What's Your Favorite Veggie Burger?

I think Fido's black bean burger is the best with PM pulling a close second. Pied Piper takes third and their fries are great.

Pharmacy = gross

Having said all that, the veggie burger has become ubiquitous in the Nashville food scene. It's nice that so many places offer a veggie burger but how about some diversity? That's all we get? The local options for amazing vegetarian entrees at both casual and fine dining establishments are, all too often, disappointing.

I like Pied Piper eatery's veggie burger a lot. It is also beety! The beets caramelize nicely and provide a nice meaty crunch. I prefer it to the Wild Cow and Pharmacy burgers mentioned above though they are good too.

Also not veggie related: William Williams has an update today about the upcoming Barista Parlor location in Germantown. Owner Andy Mumma says they are shooting for an early fall opening.

Forget the veggie burgers, let's talk about the donuts that utterly nash makes for Crema. I was lucky enough to try the chocolate donut filled with vanilla bean pastry cream. The few sprinkles of sea salt on the chocolate really took it over the top. Easily one of the best things I've eaten all year.

My personal favorite is Burger Up's quinoa burger. One of the best I've ever had. I second the Wild Cow (get it buffalo style), but I find Pharmacy's veggie burgers to consistently fall apart. The Village Pub black bean burger on a pretzel bun is also great.

Greatest of all time: Parco Cafe (R.I.P.)
Current favorite: J. Alexander's

Beet in a veggie burger sounds gross. And I like beets.

Re: “The Weekly Open Thread: What's Your Favorite Veggie Burger?

It's not a traditional veggie burger, but the 'fauxlafel' burger at Flip Burger is amazing—maybe the best vegetarian burger I've ever had. Even the carnivore I was eating with said he'd order it over the meat options on his next visit.

The Wild Cow veggie burger is superb. I also love the Pharmacy falafel burger with goat cheese.

Re: “OrderUp.com Debuts New Delivery Service, and We Try It Out

The value of these delivery services totally depend on where you live. Not all areas get access to all restaurants. I just checked Order Up's web site, and after plugging in my address in the Woodbine area, I find that I can get delivery from a grand total of 12 restaurants, only 3 of which I've ever heard of (one of which offers their own delivery), and 8 of which are pizza or pizza/pasta/Mediterranean joints. That is typical for all of the delivery services I've looked into while I've lived here.

So ... meh.

I heard through the grapevine that Bajo Sexto is opening tonight! They'll be offering limited service Tues – Sun, from 5pm – midnight, for the first week or so and eventually will offer breakfast thru late night service, including serving to 3am on Fri & Sat. #TheMoreYouKnow
