Re: “Hurry Back Plans First Birthday Bash with Rare Beers on Tap This Weekend

It works for me. Curious. I'll delete the link and retype it. Thanks for the heads up.

Re: “Hurry Back Plans First Birthday Bash with Rare Beers on Tap This Weekend

FYI - the link to Black Abbey does not work. Might want to fix that so folks can check out their website.

Re: “Weekly Open Thread: The Quest for Effective Hangover Cures

I know these over the counter "cures" are usually a load of BS, but one that I have found that works for me (better than hair o' the dog and greasy food) is Thrive+. Its got some kind of chemical in it that is supposed to block the alcohol receptors in your brain that wasn't around back when I was in college unfortunately. Pretty easy to find on the web nad amazon

Re: “Weekly Open Thread: The Quest for Effective Hangover Cures

Waking up at a decent hour, eating some protein (usually just a couple scrambled eggs) and then a workout/short run. It sounds counterintuitive but the whole process expedites the hangover.

Re: “Weekly Open Thread: The Quest for Effective Hangover Cures

Two juices (particularly the green kind) from the juice bar at Whole Foods often does the trick for me.

Re: “Book Signings Set for Nicki P. Wood's Southern Cooking for Company

Being the busy person I am I love quick recipes. I'ts important that they are healthy as well, nobody wants to put on weight. I've purchased a few cookbooks and read through them all, most are unhealthy. One that I picked up the other day has all healthy meals laid out for you. I'd reccomend checking it out if anyone is interested www.cuisinediner.com/losing-weight/

Re: “Durkee Famous Sauce: The Holy Grail of Condiments

Deviled Eggs - base is MW or mayo
Potato salad - same way but I like hot dog relish in that too
And. My bride has been making salmon patties with Durkee's as part of the recipe she found on the web. Best I've ever had. But then. I'm partial.

Beef pho, all the raw jalapenos added to the bowl, and a vietnamese iced coffee. Back in business in no time.

Re: “Achieve Euphoria in Greenville, S.C.

Yeah, I don't think I'm the target market for either of these festivals.

Re: “Achieve Euphoria in Greenville, S.C.

Seems like Nashville is the only city around that does not have smaller events going on a few days before and also during like some of the other festivals. It's an all day commitment or nothing. Just glad that there are other festivals close by to attend.

Re: “Jet's Pizza Deemed 'As Good As Homemade'

Wow. When did they drop parmesan from the cheese world? I must have missed that memo. Was it about the time they kicked Pluto out of the planet club?

Re: “Nut Butter Nation Joins Nashville's Newest Food Entrepreneurs

this has nothing to do with peanut butter. having not visited the bites world for several months i notice a massive decline in comments to the blog posts. i suppose it is hard to get excited (as a reader as well as a writer) about the same things over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. this week's beerfest...check. gavigan opens another something again...check. bbq...check. pork belly...check. 'new' southern food book...check. farm...check. garden and gun says...check. complimentary celebrity chef salad toss...check. food award nominee...check. tattooed girl from brooklyn cooks in town...check. local asian spatula queen on TV...check.

peanut butter is a welcomed departure, i am sure.

it reminds me of being home from middle school for the summer. my mom watched a soap opera during lunch time and i hadn't seen a lick of it since the end of the previous summer but i could jump right in and be instantly up to speed. the one guy is still faking mental retardation to win the sympathetic regards of a woman too beautiful to be his under unchallenged mind. the evil twin is still falsely portraying his likable twin brother and banging his unsuspecting sister-in-law as well as spending his brother's money- all the while the hero twin is locked up in the basement. one of the youngsters dabbles with marijuana and nearly jumps off a bridge under its devilish influence. the mentally withering matriarch of the whole mess has been tricked into giving her estate to the flirty, mesmerizing, hunky gardner. the former benefactor daughter with the plastic face will have none of it...that is, until she too falls hard for the charms of said mesmerizing and hunky gardner.

Re: “Jet's Pizza Deemed 'As Good As Homemade'

The pizza crust taste like it was pre-frozen/store bought (red barron) style. I was ok in til I tried my cheese sticks then highly disappointed. How does one mess up a chesee stick,it came severe with more sprinkled on parmesan then actual cheese. When I order cheese sticks I want cheese I have Parmesan at home it comes in a can. I should of stuck with pa pa John's

Re: “The 30th Ice Cream Crankin' Cranked Out Impressive Winners

I was so excited to hear that Zesty Lemon Snap won because it was hands down my top pick. In fact, in all of my years attending and/or judging Crankin', it may be the best I've ever had!

Fingers crossed Purity is able to replicate so the masses can enjoy.
