Re: “The Great Okra Raid, Cheesy Slices and the Cheap Wine Scare: News from the WTF File

Update LesleyEats- the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has officially begun termination of the 'deal'. I'm just happy to see Dietitians get loud about something.

Re: “Green Hills Grille to Reopen this Summer, Alegria Moving to West End

I love my farm to table and elevated southern cuisine and all that but I'm going to be honest... I'm thrilled to have a straightforward "american" grill coming (back) to Green Hills. I don't always need eating out to be an event. I just hope they bring back the soft bread and compound butter.

Re: “New Details on Deb Paquette's Upcoming Sylvan Park Restaurant: Truss

HAHAHA so much hate for a place that's not even open yet! I'm sure the place is going to be awesome if Debs working it.

Re: “New Details on Deb Paquette's Upcoming Sylvan Park Restaurant: Truss

Jan WZ - How would Google have helped me out? Your post is a complete non-sequiter to mine. Did anything you wrote contradict what I wrote? I don't care who is developing the space, nor the things bygone that you miss. I do care about accurate reporting.

M. Hibbert - I don't see anyone upset about the teardown, per se. What I see is people pointing out that the blog post has taken obviously silly quotes and constructed an idea that is incorrect. Whether that was the intent of the writer and restaurant representatives, we don't know, but it in a short blog post a couple things do not ring true.

Re: “New Details on Deb Paquette's Upcoming Sylvan Park Restaurant: Truss

A lot vitriol here, which really confuses me. Anyone upset about the tear down understands little about this location. The previous building was nothing more than a bunch of cinder blocks to begin with. This wasn't some sort of historical treasure. And in reference to the comment comparing the new logo to etch, don't you think this chef wants to some kind of link to her other successful business and brand?

Re: “New Details on Deb Paquette's Upcoming Sylvan Park Restaurant: Truss

Google is your friend, Cindy WZ. This project is being developed by Priam Development. Truss and Scout's Barbershop are going to be renting space in the building. They are not the ones developing it. Would you rather have it stayed a closed-down eyesore? It's zoned for retail. This project was fought for and against for a long time, well before there was any prospective tenant, and has a number of special provisions. Take it easy on Deb. I miss Zola. Glad to have something like back in the area.

Re: “New Details on Deb Paquette's Upcoming Sylvan Park Restaurant: Truss

lol -

"bring the old building housing Truss back to life" - They will have to put it together piece-by-piece like a Lego set, because the "old building housing Truss" is a pile of bricks and cinder blocks.

"highlighting trusses from the open ceiling and uncovering its natural charm"

The ceiling is really, really, really open today (there is no roof) and all its natural charm is uncovered (there is no roof, just a pile of rubble, maybe one wall standing).

They deserve the trash talk. This ain't no reclamation project. This is a tear-down and re-build, despite the language to appeal to people's desire to be environmentally friendly, preserve historic (or just plain old) stuff and rekindle with a simpler time gone by.

Man. That's a lot of trash talk about a restaurant yet to be opened. I'm thrilled about this, and I don't care what they call the place as long as Deb is at the helm. I can only expect great things from Truss.

Re: “New Details on Deb Paquette's Upcoming Sylvan Park Restaurant: Truss

And, the facebook page for the restaurant just *yesterday* posted a picture of the pre-demolition retail building! Truly out of touch and deceptive.

(I realize it is a link to an Nashville Eater story. However, the person who manages the facebook page should have substituted the garish hole that is on that corner right now).

Re: “New Details on Deb Paquette's Upcoming Sylvan Park Restaurant: Truss

Someone who wants to reference a streetcar/trolley would likely use the words "streetcar" or "trolley." Those words are less obscure than "truss." They even have a sort of cache with certain groups of urban-dwellers that are likely to frequent this restaurant.

The train reference and the old retail building reference belie a restaurant team not yet grounded in the neighborhood. Perhaps they will adapt.

Re: “New Details on Deb Paquette's Upcoming Sylvan Park Restaurant: Truss

Reference to the train likely is to the streetcar/trolley that used to run through SP, on Nebraska I think.

Re: “New Details on Deb Paquette's Upcoming Sylvan Park Restaurant: Truss

Apparently, "researching Sylvan Park" is done while being driven down 46th Ave at 50 mph by your realtor while in an SUV with dark-tinted windows. I surprised the historically-motivated researchers didn't incorporate the Roundabout/Rock Garden from the early teens in the name.

Re: “New Details on Deb Paquette's Upcoming Sylvan Park Restaurant: Truss

Who is getting paid to do this research? You see train tracks and don't see the train so apparently it doesn't run anymore? That's awesome. Also, looking at the train tracks, where are the trusses? Is she referring to cross ties? Maybe that should have been the name, Cross Tie or Caboose.
