Re: “The Weekly Open Thread: What's Your Favorite Autumn Veggie Dish?

i make THE sweet potato pudding. its made from shreaded taters cooked in a cast iron skillet so that they have the perfect crunch in the corners. not too sweet and not too soft.

Re: “Allergy-Friendly Cupcake, The Kind Cake, Kickstarting Expansion

I guess one might consider the Kind messages on the cupcakes are a big simplistic or a gimmick if you also consider Ben & Jerry's ice cream titles to be hippie themed gimmicks as well. Aren't simple gimmicks important for branding? Do we not associate pink + Cadillacs with Mary Kay and Tiffany blue boxes with a white bow associated with that sparkly jewelry store. Granted, these are not brands I care about but I do know they have created a brand and are known for those iconic images. Kudos to Joanna for choosing the niche of her concern and increasing the value of her brand through the kindness initiative. I'm excited to connect her with another professional in a completely different industry with a parallel initiative, who will also benefit personally from the product here.
Thanks for the note about the kickstarted campaign.
From a food manufacturer perspective she has a tough road ahead taking on this kitchen build out on her own without business partner or capital investment. Glad to be associated with so many emerging food entrepreneurs in Nashville making their place.
Mrs. Grissom would be proud ;)

Re: “Watanabe in Riverside Village Prepares to Close for Good

Good riddance!! One of my worst dining experiences was at Watanabe. Hopefully something great will move in, we are lacking great Indian food on the East side.

Re: “Watanabe in Riverside Village Prepares to Close for Good

Sorry when any restaurant has to close, but that place definitely catered to its regulars. Every single time my husband and I tried to eat at Wantanabes, which was always such a haul to get to from the opposite side of town, we were ignored, sat forever, got mixed up orders, etc. We just gave it up, sadly. It wasn't worth the hassle and poor treatment. I hope he can give Batter'd and Fried some love. That place used to be awesome and still isn't terrible, but needs some attention.

I like how, right after “Keeping it as is," there's this long ass list of changes.

Re: “The Weekly Open Thread: What's Your Favorite Autumn Veggie Dish?

Vegetable "crisp": cubed root veg in a shallow roasting pan topped with a cheese-oatmeal-butter "streusel" that bakes into a crunchy topping over roasted root veg. Not speedy to make, but pretty unforgettable.

I'm with you, Brother BP. Win or lose, I'll be there. There are still at least 20,000 of us...

Re: “Pollo Tropical Still Believes in the Titans

My apologies, Chris. I thought that was meant to imply that the Titans don't have any real fans.

Re: “Watanabe in Riverside Village Prepares to Close for Good

Sad to see them close. Great sushi, delicious craft cocktails (myself? I'm a big fan of the Ginger Lindsey!), and a cool vibe on the East side.

Re: “The Weekly Open Thread: What's Your Favorite Autumn Veggie Dish?

On Firefly Grille's current menu, you can find WARM BRUSSEL SPROUT AND BEET MÉLANGE, ANJOU PEARS, FRESH CIDER VINAIGRETTE, TOASTED PECANS, BRIOCHE CROUTONS, GOAT CHEESE, ADD DUCK CONFIT for a little extra. It's crunchy, savory, sweet and duck fatty. What else could a girl ask for?

Re: “The Weekly Open Thread: What's Your Favorite Autumn Veggie Dish?

I had a phenomenal baked spaghetti squash with brie last night at Red Pony. The Brussels sprouts salad with sundried tomato, gorgonzola and candied bacon was outstanding, too.

If you've been to LP Field lately, BP, you'll notice that even those of us who keep going to games every week can hardly be described as "fanatical."
