Re: “Gulch Gives Back to Benefit Make-A-Wish Next Week

BW--Oh, I know! That was a genuine thanks.

Re: “Biscuit Love's East Nasty Named Best Sandwich in America by Bon Appétit During a Fancy Fête

Further, I don't know how long you've been around, but some of us here are just glad that the recognition that comes with restaurants such as Biscuit Love making national headlines (and the TV show) has GREATLY reduced the number of times we get asked if we wear shoes or have indoor plumbing.

Re: “Craft Brewed Offers More Than Just Beer — Cocktails!

Makes sense and I may do that. I'm fond of Craft Brewed, but I've never ventured into the liquor side of the operation. BTW, I tend to vary my Old Fashioneds through the use of different sweetening syrups (simple, honey, maple, agave, etc). My favorite of those was a POM/agave syrup combination that cooked down into a really nice twist on a grenadine. Made for a lovely OF, especially with a couple of ounces of Rittenhouse...

Ryan B. I'm just truly sick and tired of having the name of an East Nashville running club glibly tagged to where I live. We don't call it that. I know I lose on this one, can't stop it, but I don't have to like it.

Re: “Craft Brewed Offers More Than Just Beer — Cocktails!

I suggest dropping in to ask them, Pogo, but I imagine that the specific choices for these sort of tasting events include some element of what products the stores and distributors want to push. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I make the same Old Fashioned recipe with all sorts of different bourbons to add a little variety to my nightly snort.

Curious about the use of Ramazzotti instead of Campari in these drinks. I could understand it better if paired with Punt e Mes due to its' bitter profile, but paired with Vya? Seems like these would be somewhat sweeter than the usual Negroni or Boulevardier.

Re: “Biscuit Love's East Nasty Named Best Sandwich in America by Bon Appétit During a Fancy Fête

I don't know the origin of the name, but keep in mind that this sandwich was originally served from a truck and difficult to eat without getting your hands and possibly your shirt kinda nasty. So if it's that offensive to you, you can think about that but you're missing out if you don't want one because of the name. It's delicious.

Dang, that looks good. Looks almost exactly like the Charleston Nasty at the Hominy Grill in Charleston. Can't wait to try it! And can't wait for them to open in Hillsboro Village. Watch out Pancake Pantry!

Hello Further,
Embrace the nasty. You really live in the east? Look around. You in it.

wish you'd chosen a less vulgar and sophomoric name for your sandwich. might work as a name for a running club, but not a sandwich and clearly not our beautiful neighborhood.

Interested in the El Gordo, but I wish the dinner included Snake Handler...

Re: “Gulch Gives Back to Benefit Make-A-Wish Next Week

@Leslie Eats, I would have assumed everyone knew what Make a Wish does, too, but apparently there's at least one person that didn't have a clue. My comments were certainly not directed at your post. Thank you for making us all aware of this chance to make a difference while getting some pretty cool deals at the same time.

BW--clearly, I should have included the boilerplate about Make-A-Wish and what they do. Thanks you for including that information.

Re: “Gulch Gives Back to Benefit Make-A-Wish Next Week

@Hudson, do you even know what Make a Wish is? It is a charity that fills the dreams and wishes of some very sick children. It's not a government agency that disperses funds to areas of town for improvements or anything even remotely related to that. I hope that all the people who live in the gulch do buy a card to support this group. And you should, too. The link is above and even if you don't take advantage of the savings, you would be helping some amazing kids get their wish before it's too late. Go ahead, click the link.

Re: “First Bite: Avo

@Sarah Whaaaaa?? That's SUCH GREAT NEWS! When I asked the person at the register told me both recipes had lard and I was so sad. This changes everything! Thank you for the update!

Re: “First Bite: Avo

Hey Megan, This is Sarah with Biscuit Love Brunch. Just wanted to let you know that our biscuits are not made with lard. Only the beaten biscuits that come with the ham bar have lard in them!

So, come enjoy a biscuit along with the veggie grits next time!
