Re: “Gift Guide: Non-Terrible Presents for Humans Who Like Food

I'll leave this here as their selections are actually better than the above. Gummy bear shirt or Lapkin?

I would cut someone for a box of FX chocolates. All sold out.

I do agree with Arnold's. But not really on their route back to AF1.

@Cassandra — Publix carries Boar's Head meats.

I don't think some of them are priced that bad.

Re: “What'd You Eat This Weekend? Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Tandoori Chicken Poutine and Fancy Swedish Ginger Snaps

Cafe Coco had acceptable poutine a few years ago, and acceptable poutine is still pretty great. No idea if it's still on the menu.

By "acceptable" I mean "could be served in Quebec without enraging the locals."

Re: “The Turnip Truck Plans Ambitious New Store in East Nashville

I moved here from San Diego. I used to buy Boar's Head Natural meats from Sprouts and Harvest Ranch Market. Kroger near me doesn't have it. It's the only deli meat I will even eat. The article doesn't even mention deli for the new location.

Can't find Boar's Head All Natural deli meats anywhere. I hope that they will sell them!

I've only attempted poutine at two places in Nashville — Pub 5 and Flipside — and that was enough to make me give up here. Seriously, why is this so hard?!

Steve, the best version of poutine in Nashville is at the Biscuit House. Just pour sausage gravy on your home fries.

What IS a decent place for poutine in town, anyways? The one at Publicity was sufficient, but curious about others. Will definitely give the Chauhan a try.

Re: “Give the Gift of Culinary Travel With the Charleston Wine & Food Festival

Did you even click through to see what the events cost, Cwabby? Most of them are much less than what I paid for my ticket to the Titans game yesterday, and I'd much prefer to leave an event with a bellyful of food and drink rather than the heartburn that football team gave me yesterday.

Re: “The Weekly Open Thread: Where Would You Send the President of the U.S. to Dine in Nashville?

Tee Lee- I went to school in Raleigh, NC and Cook Out quickly became an institution after it opened in the early 2000's. I can't believe you didn't mention the lengthy milkshake menu. How many places can you get hushpuppies, a hot dog, bbq sandwich and a banana pudding milkshake at the same spot? I haven't been to any of the new local spots yet, but do you remember if they serve Cheerwine? I'll have to stop by soon to relive my late-night college days.

Re: “Kristen Gregory on Cutthroat Kitchen This Sunday

Kristen was hilarious last night. The episode really showed her personality. And she was seriously awesome. I want to know if she got to keep the blueberry suit. If you've ever seen her work in the kitchen, you know she has a penchant for costumes and crazy hats. Way to go Kristen!

Re: “Kristen Gregory on Cutthroat Kitchen This Sunday

Gratz to Kristen Gregory who was seriously awesome (especially in contrast to mouthy pastel-shorts guy) in winning Cutthroat Kitchen. With wins in Chopped and CK to her credit, can a turn on Top Chef be far behind? One can but hope...

Re: “Give the Gift of Culinary Travel With the Charleston Wine & Food Festival

I'm running out of consonant combinations to put in front of "-illion" to express how much money I'll need in the bank to pay for tickets to food festivals for the super-rich.

Although I'm sure there are unpaid volunteer opportunities.

Re: “The Weekly Open Thread: Where Would You Send the President of the U.S. to Dine in Nashville?

Well i made it to the COOK OUT restaurant on galllatin road. omg. the lines have been insane. so you know im not a food snob so i need to update you on the new burger place for regular people who dont feel the need to pay 10 bucks for a burger. so the menu is fairly simple but they do have grilled chicken and some other things. i chose the cheese burger loaded. service was very friendly and fast. my burger came out wrapped in aluminum foil fresh and hot. i prefer foil to the boxes that places use. the boxes seem to just make more of a mess. it was perfectly cooked and home grilled with fresh lettuce onion and tomato. the cheese was good too. it was not a huge burger..literally, it was right off your own grill. the meat had a wonderful flavor and just the perfect amount of seasoning. the fries were fresh cut and salted. i also received three chicken nuggets. i never order nuggets. i dont know why.... ive eaten them. and they just seem odd to me. well these were small and plump and very fresh. i very much enjoyed them as a side and willl likely order them again as a full side (5 for 99 cents). i had a fine meal for 4.99. i know its not cool or vegan but its a nice new lunch option and they are a new business in the "wrong side" of east nashville so consider stopping by. oh they have a ton of drink options (non alcohol)
