Re: “Pagan Unity Festival Brings 'Devil-Worship' Into the Light

Nice article, Angela. I certainly appreciate your open-mindedness and frankness. The world is full of all kindss of people with all kinds of beliefs. We Pagans are just another small segment. Please kick the editor who picked the headline.

Re: “Pagan Unity Festival Brings 'Devil-Worship' Into the Light

"Simply put, Paganism, like Christianity, is an umbrella term, with many different puddles of belief pooled beneath." This may be the most accurate one line description of paganism I've seen in my 50 years of being one.

Re: “Pagan Unity Festival Brings 'Devil-Worship' Into the Light

The article is very good, but the title about "Devil Worship" was misleading and unjust. Some people won't notice the quotes around the term and won't read the article, so it will just confirm their false belief that pagans worship the devil. The title does us a disservice.

Re: “Pagan Unity Festival Brings 'Devil-Worship' Into the Light

It is a bit like this for what you might call devil worship under the names of Wicca and Paganism. We believe like the EARLY Romans, Greeks and Egyptians. There are GODS that give the tender care for every thing around US. Mythology sets the stage with the story that us as humans did not know where it ALL came from. Who shall we give credit? We gave FACES to the things we loved most in our lives, Gods and Goddesses who guide and protect ALL life. Mother and Fathers of US all. The CIRCLE of life is another way to put it. The Coexist bumper stickers you see on cars shows us all acceptance, because all of OUR beliefs do in fact COEXIST! Christians ONLY God proclaimed in the Bible said, " Thou shalt have no other GODS before ME." He is implying there are OTHER Gods. As Pagans we look at our history which was born from the Earth, Wind, Water, and Fire, not a book filled with accounts from people who have seen the son of god, Jesus. ( Almost sounds like Zeus and Hercules, Father and Son.) We may have a different Belief/ Religion but we accept others around us, we do not carry prejudice for those who follow another way of life. We cherish and hold all life sacred. Satanism is a non-believe, it is NOT real. The only way one should ever have feelings of being an outcast or harmed with their fears should be in nightmares. Never in everyday living NOR in their life after death in the Summerland or Heaven. I am a Wiccan, I Coexist. This story and the Festivals other Wiccans and Pagans are holding should continue, so that we can all live in harmony. Blessed be.

Re: “Pagan Unity Festival Brings 'Devil-Worship' Into the Light

I too disliked the title, when I saw the title I was expecting a whole other kind of article. I am glad the author of this learned as much as they did, and learned to be more open minded, hopefully that will spread to others. I would also like to point out that the pentagram has other uses, not only for devil worship, or the Wiccan uses told of in a previous comment, but is also used by pagans for banishing rituals and spells.

Gostei muito desse artigo. Na verdade o problema da demonização da visão pagã do mundo ocorre em todo os lugares onde há cristianismo. O mesmo acontece no Brasil.

Bênçãos brilhantes

Re: “Pagan Unity Festival Brings 'Devil-Worship' Into the Light

That was a good report. I loved the so-called "click-bait" devil stuff. Back in the old days of report writing, that would have been entirely appropriate. If people were actually that averse to "the devil," they wouldn't watch so many scary movies. So many of the fluffy, latter-day hippie, new age butterfly and unicorn fart crowd think that by completely denying any mention of a "devil," they'll make "paganism" (however that may be defined) an acceptable thing. Hell, a reputable Hindu can't even open a government session without the Sgt. at Arms being called to restore order in the Senate. (Do you realize how many Hindu folk there are in the world?) I hate to break it to the flower children, but you're delusional.

Re: “Pagan Unity Festival Brings 'Devil-Worship' Into the Light

Article is great, but your attempt to get attention with the "Devil Worship" comment is just too much. Pagans get enough negative press without your help.

Re: “Pagan Unity Festival Brings 'Devil-Worship' Into the Light

The "inverted" pentacle that you ascribed to Satanism is also used in Wicca. In many Traditional groups it is the symbol for those who have attained the second degree. It symbolizes their journey inward to deal with their own inner "demons" in order to better serve their coven when they start one and their community at large. Great job.

Re: “Pagan Unity Festival Brings 'Devil-Worship' Into the Light

The article was very good and showed us (Pagans and PUF) in a good light. The author was respectful in her questions and in her writing. I dislike the title and that is the only complaint I have. Except for my feet, they really hurt.

Re: “Pagan Unity Festival Brings 'Devil-Worship' Into the Light

That's why it's in quotes. Unfortunately, the common perception among Christians is that Pagans are "devil worshippers." If the headline gets the attention of folks like that and convinces them to be more open-minded, that's good. Providing, of course, they actually bother to read the piece before they start condemning it.

Re: “Pagan Unity Festival Brings 'Devil-Worship' Into the Light

Other than the titillating and misguided title to your article, it was fairly well written.

Re: “Pagan Unity Festival Brings 'Devil-Worship' Into the Light

You take a fairly well written article and slap a title that includes the phrase "devil worshiping" right on the title of the article. We have nothing to do with devil worshiping.

Re: “Wild West Comedy Fest Updates: Nick Swardson Cancels, Chelsea Handler Signs Books Tomorrow

Would the author mind if I reblogged this or highlighted some article quotes at www.nashvillespropertysearch.com/germantow… for a company blog? We're trying to do better about showing what's good to do in Nashville and provide great examples of events!

I didn't go personally, I thought it was a good bit more expensive than it was!

Re: “Just Announced: The Entire Belcourt Summer Schedule — And It's Amazing

"Apparently one of those rare, rare times in which the studio left a fledging actor-turned-director totally to his (and her) own creative devices after approving the filming budget, and then had a major Excedrin Headache No. 1 Millionth when it saw the rushes ... upon completion."

Actually, studios made that mistake several times in the 1920s with Erich Von Stroheim. ("Hey, how did we end up with 24 reels of foot-fetish scenes?") Why he kept getting third, fourth and fifth chances to make an ordinary commercial movie remains a mystery.
