Re: “See Tom Hiddleston in Character as Hank Williams in I Saw the Light

No one is going to be spot on with the voice. It's worth consideration that he just keep his regular singing voice throughout the film. Let his life tell the story with the music coming in second. When Phoenix tried to do Johnny Cash exactly, it was distracting for the true Cash fan.

Love Matthew, but he's too old to play the role. Mr. Hiddleston's likeness to HW Sr. is AMAZING. And he has the natural acting talent to hit this one out of the ballpark. Truly looking forward to this!

Re: “Agnes of God Opens This Week at West End UMC

There are only so many alternatives, and they too are oft-used: "production," "staging," "effort," maybe a few others. I know what you mean, but certain stock phrases come with the territory, I'm afraid.

" ... the young Cloris Leachman naked and screaming ..."

Well, she is wearing a raincoat. They couldn't show that much in 1955, not even in an Aldrich movie.

I've always liked Hammer's modern (for '55) answering machine: huge reel-to-reel tapes in a wall.

Re: “An Impromptu Nashville Girl Reunion Four Decades Later at Belcourt

I liked the film lots more than I expected to. I know that sounds like faint praise, but it's really not - - like Jim, I found the music, pacing, and most of the acting pretty dang good. Hearing a bit of behind-the-scenes info from people who actually worked on the film certainly added to my enjoyment!

Re: “Music City Mondays: Nashville Girl, Tonight at The Belcourt

Johnny Rodriguez caught quite a bit of flack from Music Row and the country-music fan base (as opposed to his own) for appearing in Nashville Girl.

In post-movie release interviews, Rodriguez insisted he had no idea when he signed on that the film contained nudity, since Johnny's cameo, the only time he was present on the set, was (musical) performance oriented.

Johnny feigned anger (apparently neither he nor his handlers read the script), but by that time his publicists were so used to lying (e.g., about the goat story- an event that never happened) and suppressing rumors of Rodriguez' substance abuse that any statements about the singer made at that time were best taken with a grain of salt.

Ultimately, the movie didn't prove that detrimental to Rodriguez' career- he and his enablers are to blame for Johnny's descent into obscurity- since it bombed at the box office.

Re: “Music City Mondays: Nashville Girl, Tonight at The Belcourt

I wish Belcourt would show AT CLOSE RANGE (1986), the Sean Penn-Christopher Walken crime movie that was filmed in Williamson County.

What a supporting cast: Millie Perkins, David Strathairn, Candy Clark, Keifer Sutherland, Crispin Glover, Tracey Walter, and Penn's late brother Chris and his mom Eileen Ryan.

Re: “Music City Mondays: Nashville Girl, Tonight at The Belcourt

Other taglines for NASHVILLE GIRL:

"All she wanted was a break. All they wanted was her body."

"When She Sings Nobody Can Touch Her."

"16 yrs. old but she caught on fast!"

Monica Gayle, who seems to have vanished at the end of the '70s, was also in one of Ed Wood's X-rated films, TAKE IT OUT IN TRADE (1970). Long considered a lost film, a complete print was discovered last year. Bad-movie buffs have cause to rejoice.

Re: “Call for Artists: Be Part of John C. Sims' The Belated Burial of the Confederate Flag

Before Burying the "Confederate Flag" that flew over SLAVERY, Please don't embarrass yourselves by burying the WRONG ONE...This information is WIDELY available...The typical Rebel Flag, or Stars and Bars or Southern Cross, and the Confederate Flag are not...repeat NOT one in the same...Try Google...

From ONE John C. Sims to another Please realize that this not about racism as much as it is about distracting us all from the fact that we are ALL having our country stolen from right beneath out feet. We must be divided so we are too engaged to see our common enemy and unite towards stopping what is destroying our country...we must ALL wake up.
