Re: “Gift Guide: Non-Terrible Presents That Cost $15 or Less

I love that Olive + Sinclair Smoked Nib Brittle... Or Mama Lee's Hot Chocolate in Creme Brulee.

Re: “Count Your Blessings: White Christmas Screens Through Dec. 11 at The Belcourt

At least Belcourt is showing several Capra films this month, so people can see his career didn't just consist of that movie about Jimmy Stewart and the angel.

Re: “Nashville Recap: ‘First to Have a Second Chance’

No! Avery did not say it was best for the baby. He said he found it too hard to be friends. Because, as we all know, he still loves and adores Juliette. As do we all.

Re: “Nashville Recap: ‘First to Have a Second Chance’

When Jeff handed Layla the pills, all I could think was, Really? We're gonna do this? We're going to be SO FREAKING OBVIOUS? Let's just hand the depressed, drunk, heartbroken girl a bottle full of pills, why don't we! ONLY TAKE TWO WINK WINK. Peggy overdosed, Juliette's mom overdosed, Scarlett got addicted to drugs, and Layla has already shown so many signs in previous episodes that she's prepping for a suicide. Ugh.

Re: “A Tender Tennessee Christmas at the Nashville Christmas Parade

There is a Christmas spirit lurking deep inside you....I knew it! Playing Amy Grant's Tennessee Christmas marked the beginning of our family Christmas (later replaced with Hanson). The songs bring back the feelings, it wouldn't be Christmas without them.

Re: “Nashville Recap: ‘First to Have a Second Chance’

I wish somebody would do a montage consisting of nothing but scenes where one character hears a knock on the door, opens it, and finds another character standing there weeping. I imagine it would fill several hours.

Why don't they show the much better HOLIDAY INN?

Re: “Nashville Recap: ‘First to Have a Second Chance’

This was pretty fun, soapy goodness, in all honesty. DRAMA!

I could have done without the #javerywedding notice ABC flashed on the screen during the nuptials. #groan

Also, Gunnar & Scarlett are getting back together. I'd bet Micha's college fund on it.

Favorite line of the night from Jeff to Will, "Butch it up!" Classic. And when does the go fund me account for Scarlet get up and running?

Re: “Pledge From a Future Nashvillian

The expensive clothing store mentioned in Steve's article USED TO BE the house where Ned Van Go and Les Honky More Tonkies practiced. $350 hoodies? Fuck you!

Re: “Nashville Recap: ‘Nobody Said It Was Going to Be Easy’

So you think a father should only get to see his child at the whim of the mother? F--- that.

Re: “Nashville Recap: 'Road Happy'

It's a good call about the Magical Negro trope. But I guess I will never understand the hate for Scarlett, not only here but seemingly by every other recapper and most commenters as well. In particular, even if you are put off by her personality (I'm not), I don't see how anyone can pretend she's not a good singer.

Re: “Pledge From a Future Nashvillian

Well, real or not, no self-respecting Nashvilian ever helps a musician do stuff that musician, or his or her, ahem, roadie or flunky, should just do herself. We don't carry amplifiers here for anyone, unless it is the very ghost of Jimi Hendrix. It is bad for the business at hand. But do support our musicians.
