Re: “Ferguson Has Happened Here

@White Sharpton: "IF the officer had his eye socket fractured, that had to happen well before Brown's being shot considering he retreated then turned around and attempted tp(sic) surrender shouting "don't shoot, I'm unarmed". '

It's doubtful that more than one minute passed between the blow from Brown that busted the officers eye socket and the first shot outside the car. Then there's the statement from the witness who had just aided Brown in a strong arm robbery, "don't shoot, I'm unarmed". You readily believe that from somebody who has every reason to lie and yet cast doubt on an "official report" that hasn't been written yet, forgetting that the most militant racist Attorney General in history has a team of politically correct DOJ lawyers present, lawyers that he hired because of their PCness, doing their own investigation. (The last bit about the PCness came from a former attorney for the DOJ who was there when they were hired. That's pretty scary information. But then, when you consider the case of Lois Lerner, it's not surprising. Scary, but not surprising.)

@Prag: So you're finally being pragmatic about something, waiting until the information is in before issuing an opinion. If you weren't normally such an ass I'd be impressed.

Re: “A Young Girl’s Ordeal

As much as I questioned the idea of a trial I now see that this was 100% the right course of action. today is Christina's 29th birthday and she has dedicated her life to helping struggling adolescents. I will always feel partially responsible since this terrible event took place at my house, but if any good could possibly have come from this Christina has made it happen. her strength and compassion are immeasurable. hopefully this unnecessary ordeal has helped other teenagers think before they act on immediate gratification at the expense of others. she is a loyal friend, daughter, and sister who works with extreme dedication to make this world feel a little safer ,and gives a voice to those who are troubled and scared. as her mother I could in no way be prouder of the woman she has become!

Re: “Ferguson Has Happened Here

That still does not excuse the fact that brown was shot a several yards away from the police officer while trying to surrender 6 times in the least. Twice in the head at an angle that can only be reasonably described as with his head down, which validates the eyewitnesses that said he was either shot while on the ground from his wounds or going down succumbing to his wounds.
Given that at NO time after his being shot and on the ground did the police attempt to administer any first aid, which either proves he was already dead, or they allowed him to die unaided. About 45 minutes after his going down EMT's arrived. WHY so long?
IF the officer had his eye socket fractured, that had to happen well before Brown's being shot considering he retreated then turned around and attempted tp surrender shouting "don't shoot, I'm unarmed".
The major consideration here is that you can not shoot to kill an unarmed man from such a distance UNLESS he provides a danger to you or someone else. Having been shot 4 times already, Brown was no danger. At best the officer failed to contain the firing of his weapon resulting in the death of Brown. Felony Manslaughter I would guess (not being a lawyer).

Is all this conjecture? Technically yes, but gleaned from reliable media sources. I was not there and neither was anyone else posting here, but I state what I believe to be true! OR......I could just stand here with my hands in my pockets............playing a bad game of pocket pool.............and wait for the "official report"...............because we know that would be the absolute truth........don't we??????? Why would we doubt that???????

Re: “Police and Community Leaders to Discuss Ferguson, Mo. at Town Hall Thursday (UPDATED)

Trayvon Martin's crime was to be black after dark, wear a hoodie, and public consumption of tea and skittles!

" The Ferguson riots were started by a crime"
Uhhhhh, YES! The crime of police over reaction resulting in a homicide...............murder if you will.

Re: “The Daily Links: Ferguson, Taylor Swift, and the Washington Football Team

Not much diversity (nor apparent experience) among the Taylor Swift critics.

Kind of like what the Nashville Scene country-music critics' poll has become: Limit participation, ignore expertise and the results are pre-determined.

Full disclosure: See my comments posted at http://www.nashvillescene.com/nashville/the-ninth-annual-nashville-scene-country-music-critics-poll-beginners-luck/Content?oid=1199580

Can someone get Will back on his meds? We need a bullying policy to keep him in line.

yoyo, you are trolling so hard to get someone to pay attention to you that I would feel guilty if I continue to ignore you.

Yes, honey. We see you. Mommy and daddy are very proud.

Re: “Police and Community Leaders to Discuss Ferguson, Mo. at Town Hall Thursday (UPDATED)

@Doyle: Gee whiz, dude, do you have anything to offer that hasn't been tried before? No? The problem is the criminal element. The Ferguson riots were started by a crime, Trayvon Martin was killed while he was committing a crime. The link I supplied states that 93% of the trouble makers in the LA school system are minorities. Something must be done besides guilt ridden white racial cowards offering a face to slap. As I wrote in another post, the "N" word was virtually eliminated by social pressure. You don't think the same tactic would work with criminal behavior? Mothers should be pressured to raise their children to avoid violence and criminal behavior. The community has to apply that pressure. Something different has to be tried and you and your cohorts are offering nothing.

I think yoyo should attend the town hall and present his thesis for how to fix the plight of African Americans. If he's got all the answers he should share them.

Re: “Police and Community Leaders to Discuss Ferguson, Mo. at Town Hall Thursday (UPDATED)

The propensity of African American youths to commit crimes and the efforts needed to prevent criminal activity by black youths will not be discussed. It's only a matter of time before the subject of the following link becomes true in Nashville. Maybe it already has.

Re: “Police and Community Leaders to Discuss Ferguson, Mo. at Town Hall Thursday (UPDATED)

This might be a good illustration of a fundamental difference between Nashville and Ferguson. I'm not that excited about politicians being there, but this meeting could be a positive sign that the Police Department is taking this seriously.

I don't think anyone is naive enough to believe that one meeting will cure every problem or source of friction between the public and the police. However, it's never a bad thing when people actually listen to each other and search for solutions.

Re: “Ferguson Has Happened Here

You have made a good point, JC. But that does not justify your name calling of those taking a different tack...me in this case. However if I ran into you somehow person to person I would not be angry. Afterall it is cyberspace.

Now, there is a lot of news out there, piling up as we speak, that appears to justify the officer shooting MB. You may have to eat a little crow in the next little while. Get ready.

Also, they might have to call off there little wardance down Rosa Parks.

Re: “Ferguson Has Happened Here

prag: my posts have been consistent with the mainline media reports (Fox News excluded). I have always once evidence became revealed, that this was murder. You might re read my comments before you ridicule them. Have I been wrong? Yes, but only when media reports are wrong. Do I speculate? yes, but from the point of informed knowledge from normally reliable sources.
If you wish to wait until all the votes are counted and indictments are handed down, verdicts are read, appeals are heard and ruled on, have at it. THAT is not me, that is not me persona. I am not afraid of being wrong, and have been wrong more than a few times. I am also intelligent enough to understand that on this site speculation fuels most all comments unaccompanied by cites, and even then they must be weighed against the validity of the sources.
Pragmatism rejects speculation and philosophical conjecture and prefers to deal with the colorless and tasteless practical. NO DAMN FUN! Thank you for your comment, but I reject your premise!
