Why the concern for this Berry College? Is this some great Constitutional crises within
our state over one of hundreds of so so colleges wanting to increase the head count?
Matthew 25:35-40
New International Version (NIV)
35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
THIS "tree-hugger" didn't vote for Dean--either time. Greens do not support greedy corporatists--unlike those on the right.
"some states charge out-of-state colleges money to send emails to residents of the state. ..That doesn't excuse the blatant money-grab"
Sounds like government is trying to operate like a business. (sarcasm alert)
The concept of college via the internet (or commerce in general via the net) opens up great issues in states rights and their ability to tax and regulate these activities.
This school is recruiting students in Tennessee, yet feels they have no obligation to meet any standards established in our state, whether those standards concern education or fees. If they want to do that, then they can not also come to this state and establish an operation here. The question is a matter of gray - when do they establish an operation here?
But yes, I want my frat to have a rush party on the billboard, thank you. :)
Nope! I am right!
Well, Gerald, as the MEDIA, and in some manner representative of this area, to completely ignore other religions on their faith and values page, indicates that either they feel other religions are not legitimate faith or have no value. Which is a direct and vile insult to minority religions, IMHO. Their #1 responsibility is to print the truth, far above any profit motive, and to ignore minority religions is in many aspects lying through omission!
That's the point! He was searching for (in his own words) BLACK predators. Does that NOT ring a bell in your mind?
Wait Jimi, who the hell you talking to? Excuse me xray/zoombah/gastthenamechanger/vladthehoodednightrider,, I forgot to whom I was speaking (typing really)!
Where are the Dean supporters? Where are the tree huggers from the left in the Dean Administration?
What a bunch of hypocrites!!!!!!!
Tisk tisk tisk
@Senor Sardonicus: So, Zombie, you finally discovered peyote. Mmm, mmm, mmm.
I agree that The Tennessean should have broader coverage; ie> coverage of other religions and groups besides Christians. But, wait! Isn't the Tennessean a business? And don't they have a right to run their "business" as they see fit? Oh! And I think Nashville used? to be considered in the "Bible Belt"! Just sayin....
@davidlongfellow: What are you implying? The killers explanation for the beheading makes perfect sense to open minded people everywhere.
Anything that eliminates predators of any stripe or spot is good.
Jakes is right in what he said. If Metro caught any citizen doing this sort of thing, that person would be nailed to the wall. I know y'all hate Jakes and all, but he deserves some respect for bringing this to light. Would YOU want to live in the neighborhood in which that toxic material was dumped? Or will be dumped? Not me. Thanks Ken Jakes!
What's good for the Metro power elite is poisonous for the citizens? I'm shocked, shocked, I tell you ...
The birds were flying low. Too low for Mr. Xray, the man whose name we all know but cannot utter, for fear of a karma so bombastic, so utterly surreal, that it would blow our atoms into the 5th dimension, the dimension that exists in all of us. Same goes for Mrs. Zoombah. The exegesis wrought by the low flying birds was driving the monkey's mad, at least according to the fabulous Mr. Dwinkle when he was confronted with The Transformation! He saw that the atomic funny man had been edited out of all reason. That was enough to drive him over the edge of rationality, into the abyss of sorrow and longing. It was an abyss so deep, it would force a man to give up his very sexuality. But do not fear! One day he will return to reap what had been sown for him, by the Very Large Black Man named Ulysses who haunts the dreams of Mr. Xray and Mrs. Zoombah! One day, justice will return with a bang so loud, so utterly otherworldly, that a great catharsis will take place and all of Nashville will return to a state of pure bliss!
I suspect you mean that as an insult, but your odd syntax makes it unclear.
Go away now, son; grown ups are talking.
Do YOU know what a hedonist is? The word you may be looking for is heathens.
And knowing Bill as I do, I doubt he voted for Fincher, DesJarlais, or any other of that rabble. You on the other hand...........
Re: “Tennessee Tries to Bully Berry College”
Bob Keim - establish an operation? It is a billboard; it is an advertisement. Where is the gray area - there is no operation in TN.
Never Fear - There aren't a lot of out-of-state colleges advertising on TN roadways, much less "hundreds". This is, apparently, one of the reasons. There is an established law and TN wants to enforce it.
