Re: “Bill O'Reilly and Dennis Miller Coming, Boldly and Freshly, to the Ryman

Can we "exercise our First Amendment rights" and shout them down so they cannot be heard or even talk -- you know, like those whackadoodle racist hatemonger nitwits in Manchester did? Of course, sane people might see that as an abuse of our First Amendment rights.

Or should we just ignore them? I think I like that better.

Are sidearms required to attend this fun fest?

Re: “Bill O'Reilly and Dennis Miller Coming, Boldly and Freshly, to the Ryman

If this were 1992, I'd sell my kidneys to see Dennis Miller. But since he lost his damn mind, I'll keep both my kidneys and my cash.

And I wouldn't pee on O'Reilly if he was on fire.

Re: “The Hippodrome: Kryptonite Cardinals Crush Commodore Coronation

I think that fans often seem to forget that not only can a player not do someone else's job (Lebron James not withstanding), but to talk about other facets of the game is to crap on other players or place expectations on them. That's the sign of a bad teammate. Then again someone has decided to continue to pay Gregg Easterbrook to complain about Me-Firsters on ESPN, so what do I know.

Hey, it's JERKAROO! or JERKAPALOOZA! - or just an unfunny former comedian with an intolerable, cranky, race-baiting, right wing mouthpiece. Can't wait to miss this gathering of Nashville's least likable people. Thanks Ryman, for hosting both this noxious event, and gun-crazed psychopath Ted Nugent within months of each other. Ewwww, gross, barf...

I saw Miller in the early 90's before he went right-wing nutjob. I enjoyed it.

Re: “A City Divided Against Itself Cannot Stand

Is this where we remind ourselves that Williamson, Robertson, Sumner, Rutherford, Cheatham and Wilson county taxpayers paid zip, nada, zilch for the sewer-fund-grabbing construction of what is now LP Field, while their residents enjoy the team's presence gratis ? Something inherent in there about multiple generations of Metro leadership failing to carry math forward for years to come or spread the costs in a regional manner.

Re: “BREAKING: Local Magazine Refocuses Its Mission on Left-Wing Lifestyle

Thank goodness the headline is wrong.

If Bruce were busy publishing a magazine then who would be the Political Commissar of the Megan Barry for Mayor campaign?

After all, Lenin had Trotsky. Mao had Zhou Enlai. Gracie Allen had George Burns. Lennon had Yoko {who makes Trotsky look attractive in more ways than people will admit}.

"It sure reads like jealousy."

Only to a nitwit who is incapable of rational thought and likes to behave like a 2 year old.

Re: “The Southern Baptist Convention Walks a Fine Line

Angl is right on several counts.

Yes, homophobes have often equated homosexuality with pedophilia in the past. It was the rationale used 40 years ago to argue that homosexuals should not be allowed to teach in public schools.

And, yes, the conflation still occurs.

Where I disagree with Betsy: I don't know that there is an correlation among the Baptists or other evangelicals between their homophobia and their reluctance to go after predators in their ranks. From what I've read, the child molester problem in the Baptist ranks mostly involves heterosexuals.
