Re: “Cooper Denounces Voter ID in Wake of GAO Report

@Joan Douglas: Thank you, Joan, for giving me the chance to remind everybody the voter ID laws wouldn't be needed if it weren't for Democrats.

Re: “Charter Schools Enter Fray in East Nashville Plan

Miss Brooks,

The beneficiaries of Citizen's United have made sure that corporate interests are apotheosized quite literally in a religious manner in this country. For God's sake (pun intended), we do not need corporations running our schools.

Re: “Report: Tennessee's Voter ID Law Depressed Turnout in 2012

Hard to posit AA Voter suppression with the NAACP promoting YES on 2, passage of which permanently extinguishes a Right to Vote.

Re: “The Daily Links: Chemical Weapons, Cheap Beer, and Dudes With Drones

Dude - you do know you can drive South on 8th avenue till you almost get to Old Hickory Blvd and buy one of those "drones" (It's a fucking R/C copter) from Hobby Express on the spot. http://www.hobbyexpress.com/
Pro Tip - Never, ever put moving propellers near or above people such as a soccer game. Don't you remember this?

Re: “Report: Secret Service Asked Metro Cops to Fake A Warrant

Here as in some other recent situations, I think it has been helpful to have a police chief with a law degree. I like the way he is handling this situation. Others might sit and stew behind the blue wall instead of stirring thins up with a Congressional committee.

Re: “Cooper Denounces Voter ID in Wake of GAO Report

The GOP knows they will lose if they don't cheat by gerrymandering, lying, and voter suppression.

Re: “Cooper Denounces Voter ID in Wake of GAO Report

The GAO was using cherry-picked information provided by a left wing organization. It's biased. And besides, the voters already had their cell phones by then.

Re: “Charter Schools Enter Fray in East Nashville Plan

JC and Min..... public schools are there for those who wish to attend. Vouchers and charters would be available to those who do not wish to attend. Why is it you want to force- as you put *all* students to attend PS? Is that good or sacrosanct? Of course not, people with money don't go.

Min and JC, not so slyly, wish to keep little black children and poor whites tied to this education machine which provides a nice income for all. This is a certainly squalid attitude considering JC's heartfelt concern that charterers make money. Or, so he says.

Is this what you two are missing?

As for suggestions, JC, let desirous students go to charters or give them a voucher. Where have you been today? That is the suggestion you ask for. One that you really despise but certainly know about ..

"... but given the designed neutrality in the GAO ..."
That statement calls into question any point you were trying to make.

Re: “Peter Cooper to Leave The Tennessean for the Country Music Hall of Fame

For someone who is such a high-powered, respected, influential source of all knowledge of everythng involving Music Row and Nashville in general, Stacy seems to have a lot of spare time on her hands to write these epistles.

It should be a lot easier (and shorter) to do. Just treat it like Mad-Libs:

"I didn't get the (fill in the blank) job because (fill in the blank) was plotting against me."

Re: “Charter Schools Enter Fray in East Nashville Plan

From the copiously less than honest words of Kay Brooks: "Publicly funded magnet schools are for a limited number of students v. public funded education is for ALL. Your words, Jim, not mine. So which is it--limited or ALL?"

My quote: "" MNPS school lottery" is for Magnets, designed specifically for a limited number of GIFTED students in advanced programs, based specifically on academic ability, not the same quagmire as charters now is it?"

Significantly different, ehh our Miss Brooks?

"KB:"I care about students actually learning"
Not ALL (that word again) the students, though, do you. You just refuse to grasp the significance; public schools are for ALL the students. And you have NO suggestions, NO plans, NO desire to improve the situation for ALL (again)! THAT is why you are unworthy to be considered anything but an opportunist, or a advocate (for pay perhaps?) for the charter corporations.

Quit while you are ahead!

Re: “Cooper Denounces Voter ID in Wake of GAO Report

Given the obvious mission to keep the black guy out of the WHITE House, coupled with the same desires from this state in 2012, it IS statistically relevant that there is a significant drop in voter turnout. Especially considering the increase in population, hence an increase in potential voters. Add to that the competitiveness of certain Congressional races, only heightens the disparity in turnout.
You can bitch and moan, and attempt to spin this any way you wish, but given the designed neutrality in the GAO, their findings is significant. need we even get into the various stated admissions of GOP politicos that this legislation was designed for just this purpose. Quit your moaning and accept your hand is caught in the candy jar of voter suppression, like a good little Elitist!

BTW: I'll put MY ability to understand basic statistics over yours any day, sockpuppet!

Voter ID is a problem-causing solution in search of a problem.

Come on, you two. You are talking to Democrats, the party of unionized schools and elementary school education. They won't understand your higher math.

Re: “Cooper Denounces Voter ID in Wake of GAO Report

Once again another article shamelessly avoiding relevant information. It's a blog, afterall, and Cooper's a Democrat. 2008 was a record year for voter turnout. A little bit of research reveals that, umm, nationally, voter turnout was 2% to 5% below 2008. Tennessee's drop of 2.2% is well within the norm. But score one for the outraged misinformation crowd.

You are damn right, Skippy.... of course they want choice for their children. Min, you would not have this problem if the "public policy decision makers" brought a better product to their clients.

Re: “Democrat Urges Democrats to Vote...Someone For Governor

Excellent explanation. I recommend Democrats vote for Isa Infante, the Green Party's candidate for governor of Tennessee. The Green Party platform is generally aligned with the Democratic one. Here's more info http://isainfante.org/ .
