Re: “Will Congress Address Police Militarization?

"In my opinion Anderson likes the spotlight"

Did you ever hear Serpas? The most dangerous place in Nashville to be was between Serpas and any television camera. If you look up the phrase "attention whore" in the dictionary, it has his picture.

Re: “You Had One Job, Jim Tracy

complete version:
I know Dexter well. He is a wise-looking orange tabby with a distinguished-looking white bib and a slightly cynical expression, an intelligent face, and a bubba/buddha-cat body.

He is undaunted by his failed run for office, as there will always be a need for good write-in candidates as long as candidates such as Scott Desjarlais and judges like Casey Moreland continue to appear on ballets with depressing regularity.

When in need of a good write-in candidate, Dexter's your man! (Or your cat.)

Re: “Will Congress Address Police Militarization?

Chief Anderson is a politician he needs to investigated his own department eternally for racist discrimination within his own department. He can't guarantee that this could never happen in Nashville. He jumps on his soup box and criticizes current events in the news for his own political purposes. Domestic violence (rampant within department) or riots in other cities without all the facts being present. In my opinion Anderson likes the spotlight and someday I hope is held accountable for his words and Personal opinion. Half the police department is afraid to tell the truth for fear of repercution from their superiors. I would love to see the FBI and TBI investigate or audit the department and see what is really going on in Metro police department. In my opinion the guy is worse than Sherpas but with a brain and law degree.

Re: “Tough Questions, Frank Answers at Town Hall Meeting On Ferguson

Now on to better things.

Who feels, with WHAT WE KNOW AND BELIEVE TO DATE that Officer Wilson is free to go, justice has been served. Or, he should go to prison.

Remember, let us not concern ourselves with police brutality, looting. rioting- just this individual officer. Forget MB is a thug.

Systemic police/black problems are NOT to be included in making your decision. In other words Officer Wilson cannot be jailed for years because of real or imagined problems with blacks and cops. Focus on that awful day in Ferguson.

JC, much BS. Way too much.

Why not just say you were wrong and sorry?

Re: “Radley Balko And The Greatest Timing Ever

No, actually there was heart felt satisfaction over the Gibson raid by members of this board. I wondered on this board about the necessity of the SWAT team but apparently the Gibson people were Republicans. Also, they had made donations to the GOP.

Re: “Tough Questions, Frank Answers at Town Hall Meeting On Ferguson

Mia Culpa yoyojohn, it seems I have spoken out of turn and misinterpreted the magazine. You have finally scored on the master, look for highlights on Sports Center

That being said, I stand by my take on the situation and reject most of what you say out of hand. Old habits die hard, I fall victim to the knowledge you are never right. But like that proverbial blind hog................well, it's NOT that you are right, it's just that I am wrong. But YOU can't be picky when victories are so few and far between, ehh, cowboy?

Re: “Radley Balko And The Greatest Timing Ever

What difference does a simple semi-automatic warning shot to the brain make?
(The sort of outrage they had to live with at Pilot, since corporations are people, right).

Re: “Tough Questions, Frank Answers at Town Hall Meeting On Ferguson

@Prag: I have read somewhere that if a police officer thinks he is about to have his weapon taken from him he is justified in shooting an unarmed assailant. Considering the size of Brown and his previous actions, and if the cop's version is true, the shooting should be ruled justified. That doesn't mean it will be, though.

Side notes: 1. I'm not much of a fan of police, especially those who use their badge to bully citizens. I would rather deal with a mugger than a cop in a bad mood so don't get the idea my comments on this incident are because I'm cop-friendly. 2. Brown had THC in his system. In the past week I have read two accounts of people who ingested candy laced with THC and experience hallucinations, one of which led to a woman's murder. Could Brown have been in a psychotic state, even if only a mild one?

What is Hillary's reaction?

Re: “Radley Balko And The Greatest Timing Ever

I do not remember this much consternation on this website when Pilot and Gibson were raided at gun point and witnesses "retained for questioning" in guarded rooms?

The New Republic? Liberal as all get out! I got you this time, JC. I await your correction.

If, now, you do not know anything about the NR, an apology is due.

Or, worse, if you knew the NR is liberal, then pretty bad; an apology and some exxplanation of why you tried to mislead this board

Re: “Gibbons and Cates Need to Stop Looking for Absolution and Start Asking for Forgiveness

That Gibbons and Cates are asserting a qualified immunity defense in the Court of Appeals means not only that they have been sued, it means that their assertion of that defense (most likely at pretrial stage) was unsuccessful in the District Court.

Re: “Letter From Haslam To Teachers Not Very Well Received

Moost, thanks for admitting that the Governor, the Legislature, and the Commissioner of Education have been engaged in good old-fashioned union busting for the last several years. It gets so tiresome listening to you folks prattle on about how all this education reform is for the children. Your honesty is refreshing.

So, please tell us in detail what magical things will happen to Tennessee's schools when the TEA is no longer in the picture?

Re: “Radley Balko And The Greatest Timing Ever

yoyo,

There is not much difference, but that is not the point. A more pertinent question would be:

What's the difference between a swat team serving a warrant for a non-violent offense, and a policeman serving a warrant for a non-violent offense?
