Re: “You Had One Job, Jim Tracy

Donna, I don't know if you are just being snarky with that last post, but you might want to substitute "liberals" in your rant with "people." Because being a jerk is not partisan. You seem like a mostly thoughtful person who is brave enough to come on a blog where most would disagree with your opinions and use your real name. The problem is most of us "progressives" see posts from others who share your opinions and they are not thoughtful, do not promote any kind of intelligent debate, are often outright racist, are completely anonymous (and there isn't any thing wrong with anonymity as long as you are writing something that you would have no problem with others in your life knowing about you) and don't contribute anything more than heckling people who disagree with your worldview. It's one reason that I rarely post on here anymore. I got tired of entering discussions where the trolls took over and who constantly parrot talking points from The Daily Caller and the like and get hard-ons when people engage them. That might be how you see "the other side" also, but I think that talk radio, Fox News and right-wing blogs have for years appealled to the lowest common denominator and it shows up in our discourse on blogs like this.

I believe had there been less mud slinging, Mr. Tracy would have won.

Perry, you know I've already called you out once on the above. You are among the most hateful, vicious commenters here. And you see everything through your own unredeemed racism, mister. You are a major projector/projectionist. Get help.

Re: “You Had One Job, Jim Tracy

For Donna Locke, who voted for Desjarlais, to accuse anyone of willingly voting for a sociopath is laughable.

I don't want to shut you up, Donna. Keep talking. Keep on with your relentless, mean-spirited racist anti-immigrant jihad. Keep defending a hypocritical abortion-encouraging demonstrably-unethical patient-screwing teabagger crazy like Desjarlais. Keep on deluding yourself that your opinions are relevant or meaningful. The more you talk, the more you reveal what you really are. A better educated yoyo/john/zoombah troll.

Re: “School Board Approves STRIVE Charter On Appeal

"I am confused about how it is wrong to help students hundreds at a time"

When it simultaneously hurts the remainder (as those not in charters, remember them and our obligation to educate equally and legally) via siphoning off needed funds in the mistaken assumption that the financial needs for all schools can be equated by an equation.

That being said and put aside for a moment, the location of Strive violated the regulations and determinants that the MNPS board enacted previous to their application. The end result is that the Huffamn/Haslem mob has succeeded in extorting their way from the legal obligation of this cowardly board, or at least the majority of them.
Only Pinkston, Speering, and Frogge showed backbone and fulfilled their lawful obligation.

Re: “You Had One Job, Jim Tracy

Why are "liberals" so hateful?

Why are "liberals" so controlling of others?

Why are "liberals" so opposed to free thought?

Why are "liberals" so unforgiving?

Why are "liberals" always trying shut people up?

Why are "liberals" so keen on sympathizing with and voting for sociopaths and psychopaths while criticizing others' morality?

Re: “Tough Questions, Frank Answers at Town Hall Meeting On Ferguson

WHICH "official results"? The locals who have an obvious axe to grind and have been nationally embarrassed continuously, or the Federal prosecutors? I have no problem with speculation as long as the sources are not Fox News, Breitbart, NY Post, Mr.Conservative, and other obnoxious operations with an obvious agenda. It makes for lively debate! Being wrong is no sin, for to err is human, to bitch about is just plain vanilla.

As far as the local stormtroopers showing restraint while wearing their G I JOE outfits; yeah that just didn't happen to much now did it, yoyojohn.

Re: “Reducing Lanes on 51st Avenue is Not the Answer

This is a compelling rationale for alternative energy usage; solar, wind, electric cars. The transportation of dangerous combustibles rather hap hazard through pockets of residency is only a recipe for future disaster. Need we repeat the Waverly inferno in 1978 to drive home the point?

I've noticed there is never any shortage of people trying to mind other people's business. It all kind of runs together after a while. Y'all really should try to distinguish yourselves more from the people you criticize.

Re: “Will Congress Address Police Militarization?

The positive of having such a capability if needed, is one issue. The obvious eagerness of some police forces to play with their new toys Rambo style is where the problem lies. Pointing loaded guns at peaceful demonstrators, using a lachrymatory agent for the purpose of benign crowd control, bullying the media for no good reason other than they were doing their constitutionally protected job, indiscriminate use of "rubber projectiles" in order to do damage to the same benign demonstrators is a good reason to legislate the use of such armament.
I grew up hunting, and if my Dad had caught me pointing or threatening with my guns, I would still feel the ass whooping sting! The use of ANY weapon demands the respect of it's effect, both physical and psychological! Couple that with a callous disrespect of the rights of others, dtermines that many police departments are simply not mature enough to have these weapons. And that is unfortunate, because they CAN have a positive use.

Re: “You Had One Job, Jim Tracy

Chris, you nailed part of it there. True conservatism is rare.

The main thing is, we looked at our options and saw DesJarlais is reliable. His voting record shows that and matches what he said he would do. That's actually pretty rare for the elected. Why change? Tracy has shown himself to be unreliable.

Re: “Tough Questions, Frank Answers at Town Hall Meeting On Ferguson

Prag, I have this feeling the official results will favor the officer and all hell may pop.

I think riot gear is worn to protect the officers, anything wrong with that? This also is safer for the rioter in that the police have less need for more severe force.

As for armored vehicles (APC, say) these offer a safe way to insert police into a riot zone.

The lack of ordinary good sense here is strange. The conspiracy theorist would say let us disarm the law. I believe the liberal is terribly naive.

You can tell a constituency by the people they elect, and that section of Tennessee apparently loves it when people other than themselves are held to strict moral standards.

Re: “You Had One Job, Jim Tracy

"Jim Tracy is not a conservative"

To make a statement like this is what is wrong with the state of politics; lies and distortions and a dependency on labels, denying membership to those who we deem unworthy as if our dislike were the determinant. Tracy is a slime ball IMHO, he is a social regressive, pro business charlatan, and without a doubt he is a conservative. What he is not is an obvious hypocrite. Oh I am NOT saying he does not have policies than can be described as hypocritical, he is a conservative after all. But considering the track record of desJarlais and his indisputable lack of character, hiding behind Jesus and demanding forgiveness for his past transgressions that really should deny him a HCP, membership into polite society, not to mention congress. I know not the transgression he may have committed against the author of that statement. Maybe he denied her a job as a speech writer, dissed her cows in an udder judging contest at the county fair, or failed to shot his allotment of Mexicans, I dunno. But he failed the Donna test, as if that really matters!

Re: “You Had One Job, Jim Tracy

Prag, Donna said Jim Tracy is not a conservative and you addressed it by putting the word conservative in quotes. That about explains it. I don't think that either Desjarlais or Tracy are actual conservatives either, in the classic definition that Republicans used to go by when Eisenhower, Howard Baker, heck even Richard Nixon, were the leaders of the Republican party. Conservatism is a principle, like progressivism is a principle, but today's Republicans (like their fanboy trolls that post under names like Zoombah, Yoyo Moi and john) don't have any principles other than if Obama (or Pelosi or Reid) are for it, they are against it, and vice versa. It explains 90% of their vociferous opposition to Obamacare, a program that would have been fully supported if proposed by a Republican president. Don't be fooled, small government and "freedom" are just talking points to this crowd.

Re: “Will Congress Address Police Militarization?

I see no down side other than their appearance to liberals is offensive, You have had armored equipment out at SIDCO forever. It's better to have than not have it if needed, No one cares.
