Re: “Paramore broke the Nashville Curse and never looked back

I don't get this. I'm from Philadelphia, where Jason and the Scorchers received tons of airplay on the AOR stations in the early '80s, enough that I know who Jason Ringenberg is. How is this a curse?

"Sue"

It's also not called "Let's shit on Olivia Jean because she's more beautiful than we'll ever be, and she has Jack White, dammit!".

Lol.

Hey Jarrod,

This Nashville Cream blog entry is not called "Lovers of Olivia Jean Unite" and last time I checked Nashville Cream is not her site either. I don't know where you got that idea. This place is open to people who have good, bad, or indifferent opinions about her album. There is no reason for people who are expressing negative opinions to leave.

Guest #111

Her singing voice is the worse thing about her. A song can have the best instrumentation in the world, but if the vocals make me cringe then I don't want to listen to it.

@Sue
Even if Karen could have put out an album had she not married Jack White (but I doubt it), it would not have been anywhere near as good. Jack White put her band together and made it the awesome album that it was. It would have probably gone in a completely different musical direction without him. But I doubt it would have happened for her had she not married him. Because it DIDN'T happen until she married him.

Re: “Cover Me: Bands, Where Oh Where Does Your Door Money Go?

I owned a bar,in a small town and it was very difficult to find bands that well worth the money that I paid them.I had l star rating on there performance to attract new people to my bar and excite my old patrons. This was just a beer bar. They could brown bag where I was located, so I came up with some innovative ways to at least pay based on their talent. If they gave a great performance, they got $50-75 an hour. The key was performance, there had to be a show. As, an ex musician, I understood, that to keep my sales up, I had to buck the system! I can say this I always had the best bands they always wanted to play at Sliders
.....DO not be afraid to ask to talk about your your worth. Make a list....but make your argument is valid.

Elizabeth..."She looks like an Amy Winehouse wannabee..."

Um no she doesn't. She's very beautiful. And you know it.

What I don't get are the insults re: her singing. Olivia Jean is a musician and a songwriter. Singing is a part of her act, but it looks as though she does a lot more than that, playing multiple instruments. Pretty sure you don't even play one instrument. Because I do, and I know that musicians don't knock other musicians. So unless you can do better than she can, and have something intelligent to say, nobody really cares about your opinion.

Re: “The Black Belles' Olivia Jean to Release Jack White-Produced Debut Solo LP Oct. 14

Sue,

First of all, it's none of your damn business. Lots of people have affairs in this world (and believe it or not, do a lot worse than that) a lot of celebrities cheat too...do you no longer watch movies that have cheating actors in them? I doubt it. Second, it's laughable that you think you have any right to judge another person so harshly. Who the hell are you? God? Third, it's easy to sit behind a computer screen and trash some female in the public eye, while we know NOTHING about you and your sins. And I'm sure you have a few.
Bottom line. If you don't like her, stop returning to her site. Something weird about the fact that you have nothing good to say, yet you keep coming back. Me, I like her music.
If you don't, LEAVE.

so sorry i missed Punani Hunta's modern day Al Jolson imitation. the music world really needs a lot more casual racism from a band whose name has severely rapist overtones. bravo bleak generation.

Seasick Steve did NOT spread his legs wide open for Jack or any other Third Man employee! Hell no. No butt cheeks either.

Re: “The Black Belles' Olivia Jean to Release Jack White-Produced Debut Solo LP Oct. 14

Really there is nothing intriguing about her except for actually playing in a woman's band and carrying on an affair with Jack right in front of that woman's face. I am not a huge fan of Karen Elson either but I really did feel sorry for her when this happened.

None of the other Third Man artists fucked Jack to get their record deal right?

Re: “The Black Belles' Olivia Jean to Release Jack White-Produced Debut Solo LP Oct. 14

Jarrod,

Karen had been playing music since around 2001 or 2002. She participated on tracks from high profile artists and she was in the Citizen's Band before she hooked up with Jack. I think she would have made an album eventually with or without Jack's help.

Furthermore, affairs are a big deal when children are involved and it's pretty shitty when it is with someone from your wife's band.

Wow did Jack pay his Third Man drones to come on here and try to censor comments? Her music is average.

Re: “The Black Belles' Olivia Jean to Release Jack White-Produced Debut Solo LP Oct. 14

This personally is my first time to this forum. But from what it looks like, this forum seems to be 2 or 3 catty insecure females logging in under different names, who are incredibly pissed that this woman got Jack White. If you don't like the music, STFU and move on. All this highschool bitchiness is super immature. People have affairs all the time. Who gives a rats ass?
