Re: “Open Carry Doomed Because of Memphis?

And we're surprised by the inferred fear and loathing of (Black) Memphians by GOP extremists who support this bill???? Really???

Re: “Carr's Campaign Spokeswoman: Carr Doesn't Have "Courage To Be A Leader"

Smiling and snickering. If a candidate can not inspire any sense of loyalty with their own election team, what does that really say about them????

Re: “12 Dishes That Define the New Nashville

I agree with localboy and bytheway about the restaurants.

I've been here for 20 years (my entire adult life) and i don't feel that Nashville has changed. We might have more stuff but Nashville is basically the same place. Did we really need the Guardian, NY Times, GQ or Time Magazine to tell us we were/are cool?

New Nashville = Old Nashville validated by people from somewhere else

Re: “Open Carry Doomed Because of Memphis?

The firearm fetishists in the Pith will festoon themselves with every make, brand & caliber, so they can wag them at anyone suspicious looking (LOTS of decent, law abiding American citizens frighten gun nuts.) Black people, Latinos, Middle Easterners, Sheikh's, Punjabi's, Ethiopians, teenagers, Liberals, etc. Basically, anyone who doesn't have a Southern Baptist preacher's haircut, expect to have a gun pointed at you, (at their discretion.)

Re: “Carr's Campaign Spokeswoman: Carr Doesn't Have "Courage To Be A Leader"

Sisk's Tennessean article states that Carr initially voted against the budget but switched his vote to "yes" before the voting period closed.

So I guess Carr can say, "I was against it before I was for it."

Re: “Open Carry Doomed Because of Memphis?

Well, McDaniel is a western Tennessee lawmaker, and he was speaking to a reporter from Memphis. So it doesn't seem too hard to understand why the hypothetical gangbangers in question would have been from Memphis, and not, say, Chattanooga.

" just towing the party line" Where did they tow it? What sort of line was it made of? twine, hemp, plastic. What was it towed with? a car, a tow truck, a barge?

Re: “Carr's Campaign Spokeswoman: Carr Doesn't Have "Courage To Be A Leader"

This is the type of ignorance you get when you have Tea Party nuts running things. They hire idiots who don't know how to text their boss to see how he voted. Maybe, Alexander's folks got to her and gave her a little money to jump ship because she knew they were taking on water. Whatever the reason, Joe Carr is the one who hired the numb skull and he gets what he deserves.

Well, if nothing else it ought to make people more careful about scratching your car.

Avail yourselves of this link, https://www.facebook.com/johniharris , to watch Mr. Harris of the Tennessee Firearms Association go nuts in real time over all of the "traitors" in the General Assembly.

Re: “Open Carry Doomed Because of Memphis?

You people are disturbed! It's not just the black people! It's the militant gays, it's the illegals, it's the loose female women! It's East Nashville hipster doofuses! I can't carry legally because of "The Incident" but all these dangerous groups can! It's outrageous! McDaniel is right of course! I'm all for letting people have more gun rights and having less regulations in to their usage! However, we don't need to be opening up pandora's box for people who hate our way of life to be running around with them all out in the open! This is not what our Founder's invisioned! Our way of life is under attack as it is by the dark forces of Nobama!

Re: “Threats of Transgender Violence, Just One of the Things State GOP Will Miss About Richard Floyd

BTW, a timely and fantastic account of the issues transgender folks face using public bathrooms is up on Slate this morning.

http://www.slate.com/blogs/outward/2014/04…

The scenario that always gets thrown out here is the disgustingly transphobic "man in a dress in the ladies room" but no one ever talks about the people assigned female at birth who now identify as male or possibly somewhere inbetween. When you appear as a man but cannot use a urinal - where is it safe or okay for you to pee? Do you risk getting beat up in a men's room or getting thrown out of a ladies room?

Re: “Senator Frist Has Great Plan for Reducing Abortions, Just in Other Countries

Nice try.

How bout some numbers comparing TN to these other countries.

How bout some evidence that abstinence only is the primary method endorsed by the state.

Have another bloody Mary and Terri again next Friday, Emily.
