Re: “Metro moves toward regulating Uber and Lyft — somewhat — as cab companies grumble

The Biggest victims are the drivers tricked into operating illegally. They are at huge financial risk without commercial insurance coverage and the pennies per mile that they earn are usually less than the depreciation effect on their vehicles.

After a month or two most of them figure out the math and quit. This means there is constantly a new batch of drivers on the street trying to learn to be illegal cabbies.

Re: “Haslam Emerges as Just the Guy for National GOP Job

We intentionally chose not to expand Medicaid, even though we paid for it already. This choice means that 40,000+ Tennesseans lost their good jobs. That's a big hole to fill, on top of the recession and so-so recovery that other places are having. The jobs we are getting tend to be warehouse and distribution and retail. They are mostly not jobs to crow about, if they still pay so little that these proud new employees still qualify for SNAP benefits.

Lots of people who might otherwise ski Gatlinburg will be heading for Aspen or Vail.

Re: “In Hating on Obamacare, Tennessee Libertarians Abandon Logic

The PPACA was the republican idea, from way back when they actually gave a f*ck about things like personal responsibility. That's why they don't have an alternative now.

We need to flip them the bird and go to single payer. This system of living or dying based on the state you are unfortunate enough to live in would seem pretty barbaric.

Tsk, tsk, tsk. That would be way too sensible for our ruling theocratic nannies in the Legislature.

As of now, we have lost over 2 billion dollars for not expanding Medicaid. I guess the pro-lifers enjoy watching people suffer and die.

Re: “Metro moves toward regulating Uber and Lyft — somewhat — as cab companies grumble

It is true that uber and lyft were approved to operate in nashville almost a year ago by the city council through a licensed driver(the council approved their uber black service) but they were operating illegally their uberx and uberXL service. council man Ronnie Steine should go back and look your year old decision. Uber committed a wage theft of millions of dollars from the cab drivers by operating it's uberx service illegay.

...which is why the billboard is racist.

yoyo, you never did well in math in school, did you? I would explain how statistics work, but I don't think you could understand the concepts.

We know you were bad in science, bad in math, bad in civics, bad in history, etc. If it wasn't for finger painting, you might not have passed a single subject.

"Pants On The Ground" performed on American Idol four years ago. There's several versions on Youtube ... by African-Americans.

The reason Tennessee's unemployment rate is up is because people from other states are moving here looking for work.

Re: “Haslam Emerges as Just the Guy for National GOP Job

More and more Tennessean children living in poverty, 50th in the nation in education spending, and an unemployment rate that is nearly a point and a half above the national average. Whatever the governor is doing, I wish he would stop.

Lying. It's what passes for non-partisan expression these days.

Neither The Scene nor free-speech-loving liberals have suggested the government step in and prohibit this man from purchasing a billboard, which is what the free-speech portion of the First Amendment is all about. His First Amendment rights have nothing to do with protection from people rightly calling him an idiot, an instigator, or a even racist.

Re: “Christmas Is Defeated In Williamson County

Interesting how the militant Christians among us have transformed "Merry Christmas" into "F*** you."

Is *anything* safe from their constant sense of outrage?
