Re: “The Democrats' favorite spittle-flecked Republican, Zach Wamp, lets his loony flag fly on the campaign trail

Since when was abortion God's single litmus test issue? From the Bible one would think it would be caring for widows, orphans, prisoners, the hungry, the homeless and God's creation plus manifesting a nature compassion, justice, truth, gratitude, humility, faith, peace and obedience. I'd like to live in a state where those values informed public policy. That sure would improve quality of life, confidence in government, standing with our Creator and who knows it might even lead to something really important like economic development.

Zach Wamp's election would move Tennessee forward. Oh, it is 1210 isn't it?

Now wait a minute, Zack, China has a good economy and they encourage abortions.

And what about the oil spill that has ruined so many Southern Baptist lives?

(Maybe God hates creationists.)

Re: “The Democrats' favorite spittle-flecked Republican, Zach Wamp, lets his loony flag fly on the campaign trail

Right. That’s all it takes.

If only we stopped abortions, everyone would have jobs, and the stock prices would go up, and the oil spill would be cleaned, and the angels would sing.

of course, most people in this State would have no problem voting for someone with that simple of a mindset....

Re: “The Democrats' favorite spittle-flecked Republican, Zach Wamp, lets his loony flag fly on the campaign trail

As of today, thousands of people have been affected by the BP oil spill. Small business owners and fisherman have been financially ruined by the reckless actions of BP. The destruction caused by BP has devastated communities in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.

Yet we still have politicians pandering to BP and their corrupt oil industry. Texas Republican congressman Joe Barton opposed the 20 billion dollar relief fund established by BP for the victims of the spill. He apologized to the BP executives for having to create this fund.

Kentucky Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul stated that opposition to BP was "Un-American."

GOP Minnesota congressman stated that "BP was being "fleeced" and that the company was a victim of a "20 billion shakedown."

Knoxville Oilman Bill Haslam is running for Governor of Tennessee. He has promised to bring jobs to every county in Tennessee. But he has failed to criticize or denounce the corporate oil leadership at BP. Thousands of jobs are being lost in the Southeast due to the oil industry. Bill Oilman Bill Haslam remains silent on the oil disaster in the Gulf. The time has come for Oilman Bill Haslam to publicly reject the actions of BP in the Gulf of Mexico.

Tennessee and the Southeast deserve better than Bill Haslam's Oil industry.

Abortion is not explicitly prohibited anywhere within the 613 or so biblical laws attributed to Moses in the Jewish Bible (Old Testament), nor is abortion explicitly prohibited anywhere within the Christian New Testament by Jesus or His discliples...

It's also funny how Zach's ad features 'red and yellow, black and white' 'constituents' passing along his 'plan,' one to the next, without actually reading it. But isn't that how Congress works?

Re: “The Democrats' favorite spittle-flecked Republican, Zach Wamp, lets his loony flag fly on the campaign trail

Wamp belongs to a religious cult that believes itself to be working directly for God and therefore above human law, and which has an agenda of world theocracy run by the rich and powerful -- kind of like Ayn Rand meets Jerry Falwell. This is the group that worked to get the death penalty for being gay and prison for not reporting a gay person you know to the authorities in Uganda. He really is far out of the mainstream with his religious beliefs, and he means to impose them on you and me as the law of the land. Read Jeff Scarlet's book, The Family, if you want to know who Wamp really is.

Re: “The Democrats' favorite spittle-flecked Republican, Zach Wamp, lets his loony flag fly on the campaign trail

and so now we know that on current trends the population of our country will go to negative growth in the next decade. Where are the new people going to come from to support the advertisers who pay your salary and the tax dollars that will help take care of your parents? maybe the illegals will pick up the tab but I doubt it? it certainly wont be the aborted children that become statistics over the years.

Im not anti abortion and Im not a holy roller but you are making false statements simply because what Wamp believes is against your beliefs. No problem thats fine. Castigate him and say that he is wrong. Its the American way. but to label someone as crazy simply because they disagree with you is the simplest form of a rant and out right lie. Why do you feel that its your job to PERSONALLY try and destroy someone by calling them names instead of just showing us the issues and let the people decide?

Are you afraid of the outcome? I dont really care one way or the other but if I were betting my mortgage payment I'd bet on Wamp winning the primary because most people I have spoken with DO NOT agree with your assessment. They actually liker the guy. Maybe not the 27 registered voters who read you but all the other voters.

As for McWherter winning against any Republican thats about as likely as you ever wining a Pulitzer.

Sometimes its hard to believe the sorry state of journalism but when I read your obsessive rants I understand why the profession has collapsed. theres just no incentive to be truthful. Its all about gotcha. You should try investigative journalism...I hear there is still a market for that. After today Im deleting you from my feedreader. You are truly one angry and cynical person and Im glad I dont know you personally or have to work with you. It must be so depressing to be around you. Have a nice life.

Re: “State Republicans diddled away their historic session with ineffectual gasbaggery. That's the good news.

Please name any Tennessee politician, Democrat or Republican that deserves to stay in office. I am not sure which is worse, sniffing airplane glue with West Tennessee’s booze-hound Ophelia Ford or being threatened by the boot of the that slack-jawed troglodyte, Ron Ramsey. Let’s face it, our state capital is firmly sandwiched between a matching bookends of idiots.

Re: “Mike McWherter is becoming the Democrats' contender in the governor's race by default — which could be the party's best hope

“Laws pertaining to how the ‘State of Tennessee Registry of Election Finance’ regulate the practices of candidates during a political campaign are in dire need of revision. Total control by Democrats and Republicans at the exclusion of ‘we the people’ Independents has placed limitations throughout the process. Free media publicity for two-party candidates while ignoring Independent candidates is unethical. The ‘value of free publicity’ should be determined, and then reported as a contribution. Anything that benefits the campaign of candidates should be included as a financial disclosure. Otherwise, media owners and their ‘special interest’ advertisers – who support particular candidates – can manipulate public opinion in favor of the ‘politician’ who promises to serve the whims of campaign contributors if elected. While Democrats and Republicans are getting free publicity, Independents are being insulted, mocked, or simply ignored by the media.” -- White Horse Independent Gubernatorial Candidate James Reesor

Re: “State Republicans diddled away their historic session with ineffectual gasbaggery. That's the good news.

It makes one nostalgic for the good ole days, when the consent of the governed meant something. Haven't found the source of this quote, but it certainly fits the Xtian Rethugs who have usurped control of our government: "Republican legislators, when you took your office, you put your hand on the Bible and swore to uphold the Constitution. You did not put your boot on the Constitution and swear to uphold the Bible."

Someone should remind them of that, if they can excise the tufts of angel-wing from their reich-wing ears.

We should thank the Arizona legislature for taking the dumbest legislation award back for a few days. Or not.

Thank you for telling the emperor he's not wearing clothes. Do our representatives (and I use the term "our" loosely) really think they we are awed by their flam-floozy finery? If so, they are more egocentric than I thought possible. What a bunch of know-nothing do-nothings.

I'm SO proud of their accomplishments. They must all be graduates of Eric Crafton's School of Bad Policy.
