-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: IBSNATCHIN To: Sent: 1/7/2009 10:18:25 A.M. Central Standard Time Subj: Urgent need for assistance. Govenor must have authority to resolve? Dr. Samuel Ashby was investigated by the DEA, TBI, and the Local Sheriff's Department earlier this year and he was cleared of any wrong doing. The Health Related Board of Medical Examiners in all their wisdom suddenly suspended Dr. Ashby's right to practice medicine? The Board made no arrangement to care for Dr. Ashby's patients while the matter of his Health and Mental competence is resolved. [Defined as Neglect, and violation of TCA ] I've told you there was a twenty years young suicide in Lincoln County. Although, I haven't seen Jett Trevolta coverage? I didn't even find an obituary in the Elk Valley Times? This suicide is the fault and responsibility of the TN Health Related Board. There is no question that the board again in all their wisdom decided to restrict medical care for all patients of Dr. Ashby. Why did the board feel the need to punish all patients of this physician? Actually, I haven't heard concern for the patients. [Defined as Neglect] The board's answer to care for those patients was: Go to their local ER? The Emergency Room of any Hospital has the responsibility to provide life saving, pre-op care for accident victims stabilizing them for transfer to a Hospital equipped to treat critically injured and persons with life threatening concerns? The Health Related Board wrote the rules these facilities operate? Just as physicians are required? No physician within 75 to 100 miles will see nor treat Dr. Ashby's patients. If Dr. Ashby was their family practice physician these patient are without a doctor and without health care? The board already knows these facts. Withdrawal is a serious medical problem. It can be life threatening? Although, ER physicians don't think they should treat these patients. Because it the patient does die. The ER physician will be subject to the Health Related Boards investigation and possible disciplinary action. [Defined as: Gross Misuse of Authority] If the Health Related Board had professional medical education they should know any patient on long-term medications are at high risk. Some patients risk heart-attack, stroke, and even death. The board suspended refills and prescription written prior to November 19, 2008, The date pharmacies were instructed they shalt stop accepting prescriptions authorized by Dr. Ashby. Can anyone say "DISCRIMINATION, ETHICAL VIOLATION, disregard for their HYPACRIDICAL OATH". Gov. Bredesen should be ashamed of the 2 or more physicians on the panel, board, commission or whoever they are? [Defined as: lack of planning, Discrimination, and Ethical violations] The Health Related Boards actions in this matter are arbitrary and bureaucratic. Tax payers should be outraged at the waste of TN State Funds in this action. One member with whom I spoke had serious animosity for Dr. Ashby, "he said Dr. Ashby won't be practicing medicine again ... for a long time .... maybe never again? Who is he? The board has refused to advise me? Although it appears he' is Judge, Jury and Executioner. This matter is an embarrassment to Tennessee. If the Governor had a backbone he would order this matter closed warning the Executioner Member not to try this unnecessary and arbitrary and bureaucratic waste of tax recourses again. In a State not far from Bankruptcy I can think of a better use for those funds!!! [Described as: Gross Misconduct of the board members] Last, I request assistance in filing a law suite against both the State of Tennessee, The Health Related Board of Medical Examiners, and each individual member on the board who has engaged in this action. Further, each death occurring in the next few months must be investigated, facts gathered, and connection to this boards actions validated. Doing that will ensure that the Gross Negligence of the Health Related Board does not go unpunished. [Defined as Justice] PS Everyone who takes pain medication is not an addict. Some just need it to have a little normality in life.
Preview-More to Love than Hate 'What kind of crazy person spends Christmas Eve at the Springwater?' -The pineal gland Symbolic free love hippy people still don't understand to this day...This is what radiates from out of your very own messy corner in spacedom! Maybe witchy poo will have me in the next paragraph spent like a host body desperately seeking a map to traverse the nonlinear time warps of the Mattoid and Monsters on Television. The center of earth's mass gravity Dave Cloud 'the midnite idol' and various antic's. Where he is singing in the crosshairs of polarity getting a suck job from a helpless kitten. Confussion is the source of all propaganda, despair, pain, and reckoning. The moment of truth where universal clammor and his leash become one. Plenty of excuses trapped in the left hand. Coolsville, as Vaudeville, has erupted and burned slow like a flashlight with weak batteries. Monster's on Television are busy backmasking violin solos through a hornet's brain...Rolling out in thundering storms of undisiplined mature rockstars. Up from out of my seat, a seat at the foot of her elaborate throne, I begged for more as Mattoid relentlessly wrecked his own melodies into Christmas deformaties. Saw a sad girl face last night, her actions had become one with her throat chakra...Trouble on the mike...Was not enough to disrupt the divorce from 'the Mattoid' trubadour reality. On Eridu(planet of spirit and mist) she is heroic and triumphant. Her glow like the sweet nectar of illumination dripping through the eyes...When she bent down to kiss my forehead with fire rought down from the Caucus Mountains. I saw Apollo green as eels and an envy like drinking sloppy banana's w/ tangerine spices which had been left to ferment in soft breezes as wet linens drying on the vine whispered to me the sonnets of the black ages. Ectoplasm While 'The Midnite Idol' meanders down an echo chasm, a long corroded catacomb of an eternity. This explains the nature of your visit, a new languange, that only the slimey vultures or monster's resting on Mr. Sunflower's head can comprehend. Before making my bed I ran, in a perfect way, for a mile under her soft skin. In her necklace a Black Flame was trapped between spinning lights where the Raven licked nightshade(eating it raw) obscure of rational thought or all paper cutout snowflake concepts. And peace flew from my hand grenade mind unto where chromozomes flip inside out... A reflective quality spun off a ribbon of red as fourteen battle shields fell to the ground in slow motion. An errie interlude, for an instant almost, you can feel the form of a shadowy figure loop around your neck. Hypothalamus And when does the ivory tower fall? I have been trapped once or twice with no waybees or sophistry. There is no way but out when you are caught at the center of Earth's mass gravity. One level of comprehension from the outsider's manifest. Being sanctified by run-a-way notions of sleep and infinite nocturne is objectionable, abstract, and unaccessible. Could be that we are all just fooling ourselves. It's such a petty arguement...All the truth seeking and searching found in subconscience marauding thoughts. These ideas are meaningless and embody the principle of slack. There is no center in nothingness unless you are a worm squating in dirt. While every indication says shack and arms avail us nothing...Except maybe just more over the top rock-n-roll absurdities. This will make sense in a dream; has no end, serves no purpose, and gets us nowhere. Doing the right thing and living the truth is an ongoing task with ever changing senerios. Never the same thing twice, though we all must ride the bus sometime. At that point when abstract notions are repeated enough times, by enough people, this will be enough to constitute enlightenment. Some few things only make sense in a dream.

I think that almost every music writer at the scene is a "hater." Especially Tracy Moore. Unless you are the writers personal favorite band you will most likely get a bad review, which really sucks being that some bands are trying to make it in this town. If you are not the writer im speaking of dont be offended. All of my friends are in bands. Mostly good bands and every one of them has had a bad review in the scene. From the "Perpetually always on the brink of breaking Luna Halo" to "the gin blossoms, hootie, and better than ezra sounding Wes floyd." Close friends, great bands, Ass Hole news paper= Nashville.
The only argument against English Only requires an assumption that its basis is intolerance. Morality drives this because morality is shame-based behavior. Bad government legislates morality but it bankrupts the resource that produces it: freedom. Morality must never be enforced. Tolerance, the poster-moral that opposes English Only is a form of shame-based behavior, i.e. morality, and it requires a bad-guy. To look down one's nose at English Only is to egrandize one's own moral disposition. The dark side is now that a form of passion is entered as the premise for law, the social contract shifts from reason to passion. Ever notice why moral people backslide and suffer many imperfections? They don't learn virtue. Virtue, Socrates teaches, is learned once and adhered to for the rest of life. Virtue is the basis of good government, not morality. Morality creates grey area, virtue is black and white. Morality is passion-centered, virtue is reason-based. Which should govern? Reason or passion? All would agree reason. So what refutation remains for a bill that builds a more perfect union based on equality and a common defense. A language barrier is as akin to fascism as it is to diversity. Tolerance is attracted to diversity, but forth comes fascism to take advantage.
Many thanks to the always brilliant Jim Ridley for his insightful look into the world of Cable Access Television and the plight of Joey Bowker aka The Bat Poet (The Dark Knight's Dark Night). Joey is truly the face of CATV, not only through his unique creativity, but his incredible longevity. As a producer of two cable access television shows (Stubby's Place and 2 Guys Who Don't Know Crap About Movies) I can tell you that just putting together the minimum three shows it takes to establish your time slot in the CATV line-up is a daunting task that has felled many a potential producer. Joey has been on Channel 19 in one form or another for an astonishing twenty-odd years (and I do mean odd)! It's unfortunate - but not surprising - that more viewers were not aware of his medical condition and his comrades' mission to raise money for his mounting medical bills. Channel 19 is frequently an oddity to those flipping through the channels and usually doesn't warrant more than a few fleeting seconds from an impatient viewer brandishing a remote control. But The Bat Poet possesses the unique ability to stop them in their tracks and garner a second look. Many have likened The Bat Poet Show and it's spin-off The Slime Show to a train wreck; you just can't turn away from it and it makes you want to see what's going to happen next. Joey has never veered off track and continues to astonish and amaze with his bizarre form of entertainment. Hopefully Mr. Ridley's article will help raise awareness to Joe's continuing medical woes and to the aberration known as Community Access Television.
You're not a real Jew anyway. The real Jews are blacks from Africa, not those descendants from Eastern Europe who co-opted a religion and now profit from it miserably.
THe facts remain true. Although Obama won the election, rasicm is still alive and well. For someone to just say get over it...geeze! It, being the ill effects placed upon a race of people becuase of slavery, jim crow, institutionalized rasicm, segregation, terrorism (KKK)and many more injustices within the black community from years back until now is naive and insensitive. When you look around, it is not just coincidence that African Americans are behind, but may be by design. Please be sensitive and respect the many obstacles that have been placed to help hinder the progress of a race. As well as the progress that has been made inspite of said obstacles!
People, people, people! Come now. Both of my parents warned me about going to TSU. But I figured after surviving 2 activity duty deployments, I can take care of me as a student transferring to TSU. NOT! I think we all know of the rude admin workers. Per say my parents, this has been the attitude since the 60's, and change is not an option. Besides that, 60 -75% of the students have not the slightest idea about higher education. NOT saying I the brighter pup of the litter, but TSU sure knows how to pick the worst (or dare I say the pup that should be euthanized for lack of development!) So when TSU states that the students (in general) didn't fill their Fafsa out within a timely manner, for about 30-45%, this could be true. But as for the rest, there are definitely 50% of those that fill Fafsa out on time. I say that due to the end of the summer semesters I have to hear the annoying convos of "gettin' my student loan money so I can get my hair done and bye a new outfit for the back-to-school frat parties and especially homecoming!" As human we all need to realize we are different, with different likings. DC voted for Marion Berry.... AGAIN! After being caught with a prostitute while smoking crack. Some people like that type stereotypical mentality. Thus, TSU has live dj's every Wednesday, with blasting lyrics of smackin' some girl's @ss, having they crew, buying/selling that best drugs, doing the superman or soldier boy, I be hood, I keep my pants below my butt, all while disturbing my science lectures/labs. Yes, the biology bldg is next to where this mini-concert is held. Some might want to say I am being a bit racist. (And I don't know how, but this was my last semester at this school, and as a black female I have been told in various ways that I am not "black" enough. I guess my techno is annoying to the masses here!)But every race/nationality has these groups of negative stereotypes. TSU just prizes their BET lifestyle/culture. For those TSU students whom feel I am being evil, let me offer a different picture! I am certain at Univ. of Kentucky there are those whites who pride their "girls gone wild" or "trailer trash" stereotype behaviors. Thus at Antioch High School, there are Hispanic students that love the "que haces cabron" stereotypes. Again, ALL races/nationalities have these negative stereotypes. It is that TSU (the general masses of staff and students) doesnt see their behavior(s) as negative. The key it to realize, that NOT ALL BLACKS (and/or other ethnic groups) are so accepting of these behaviors! So suck-it-up! Listen to what the few bold blacks who dare critic about that mockery called TSU. We have had to listen to your ghetto babble for the longest! Anybody who thinks they can maneuver through this pitiful excuse for "higher education" (without problems or woes), by all means, I DARE YOU! Because I wished I'd listen to my parents 5 semesters (1.5 yrs) ago. But I've learned, and Vandy (even though the price scared me) has treated me like they actually wanted me here! Me, a nobody to you or others! But here at Vandy, they actually want me! Now you can't get this feeling at TSU!
Bush sounds like more of an American than Obama could ever hope to be? Zissa? What in the hell does that even mean? It's the Republican party line or nothing? Come on.
Thanks Dorman Shindler, I could not have said it better myself. I certainly do not consider myself an intellectual but on the TWO broadcasts I heard Gov. Palin refer to France as our neighbor, I wondered what map she was using. Even with my public education in Alabama, I learned France is across an ocean and has no shared borders with the USA.
Dear Editors: Writing to say how much I appreciated your interview with John Irving -- and to add my two cents to the comments left by a previous reader, Tony Zizza. I'm not certain how old Mr. Zizza is, but having lived through the 80s and the 90s as a young man in my 20s and 30s, and worked a number of blue collar jobs with "average joes" (construction, delivery, sales, etc) as well as serve in the Army, I've had the opportunity to interact with people whom Mr. Zizza claims to represent. Furthermore, I've had the opportunity to raise a child and make use of the American public school system and to temporarily live outside of the country (twice now: once in the Army, in Europre, and, for the last year, in Australia). Having gone to school (in Texas of all places!) when it was permissable to teach evolution in all of it's glory (not just macro, but "micro") and when textbooks on something like World literature weren't 30 years out of date (as was a textbook at my daughter's school, which was one of the better public schools in the Kansas City area), I can vouch for Mr. Irving's remarks: we ARE a country that had devalued education. Worse, in the years my daughter was attending public schools in Missouri, I found that _most_ parents either didn't have the time or the inclination to inquire about what exactly was being taught (or said) to the students (being a work from home dad, I had the opportunity to get to know many of my daughters classmates and friends). If they aren't overworked -- and too tired to want to worry about their kid's educations -- most parents have been trained to ask how the kids did on their tests, or make sure they are getting passing grades (neither of which reflects on what the children are actually learning). As for money being public education and art, I'm not sure what "America" Mr. Zizza lives in, but here in the real world, I've found that too little money is spent on education and TOO MUCH money is funneled into defense spending (I saw it going to waste first hand, while in the U.S. Army) and toward alleviating tax "burdens" on corporations. And anyone with an eighth grade education -- even the 8th grade educations handed out in modern public schools -- could plainly see that George W. Bush was proud of his good ol' boy-meets-the-frat-brothers attitude when it comes to his lack of education and understanding regarding everything from reading books to terrorism and diplomacy. And anyone who witnessed Mrs. Palin's interviews could glom the same intelligence from her nonsensical answers. The LAST thing American's need is an average joe or jane, or a good ol boy leading the country. We _need_ exceptional leaders! Can you imagine an "average joe" walking into a hospital to apply for a job as a pediatrician, or a brain surgeon? Would you want such a man operating on you? No? Then why would you want such a man making decisions that affect the entire world, much less one country? Yes, Mr. Zizza, we live in America -- and it currently is a country besieged by those who are willfully ignorant, overly arrogant (about their ignorance and about anything American), too fundamentalist and extremely intolerant (of racial, sexual and intellectual differences). It's an America that would send most of the founding fathers screaming in horror as they tried to board the first boat to another country. Fortunately, not everyone has given up on our nation. Which is why there's still hope, now that a new administration (which values science, diplomacy, education, tolerance etc., over flag-waving patriotism and pushy fundamentalist religions) is in place. Sincerely, Dorman T. Shindler
As an editor, I've edited. As a letter-writer, I've been edited. But this is a first: On October 31st the NASHVILLE SCENE published a letter to the editor just as I wrote it (click on show/hide comments at http://www.nashvillescene.com/2008-10-30/news/high-infidelity/). The SCENE republished the letter the following week, not only in edited form, but also in a manner that suggests I originally addressed Music Row's lack of reaction to Bill Clinton's adultery (http://www.nashvillescene.com/2008-11-06/news/love-hate-mail/2) rather than Bill Clinton's lack of reaction to Bill Ivey's conduct when Bill Ivey was the director of the Country Music Foundation. The portion of my letter that should have remained unedited read: Music Row spoke loud and clear on this issue years ago- via its traditional silence and apparently that of the former First Adulterer- Bill Clinton- as is evident in my expose of Clinton's former NEA Chairman during Bill Ivey's years at the helm of the Country Music Foundation. How did I beat the SCENE on this one?: http://www.geocities.com/Nashville/2851/CMFAdultery.html Stacy Harris Publisher/Executive Editor Stacy's Music Row Report http://www.geocities.com/stacy.harris/report.html
Wow, great article by Caleb Hannan on Mercy Ministries. Maybe next you can shred the people running the homeless shelter, the rescue mission, or the food bank! I sit in church with the Mercy girls every sunday, I have heard hundreds of testimonies, and am witness to the multitudes of transformed lives coming from Nancy's ministry. Maybe you should try doing something to IMPROVE someone else's life, rather than tearing down those who actually do!
This years 'Best of...' issue suffers from a lack of identity, a lack of organization or.... The categories are completely disorganized. I went to 'food' to learn about restaurants and, well, food. I got that; but I also got the best bikini wax, best doctor, best place to buy jeans. What are those categories doing listed under 'food'? Similarly, I pulled up 'Goods' and got mostly 'Services'; but there's no 'Services' category, so I guess you had to put them somewhere. (How about this idea? Start a new category...after all, it's not like the categories are set in stone.) Most of the other 'categories' suffer from the same issues of miscategorization--except for 'Entertainment'; which is so theater-heavy that one wonders if there is any other entertainment to be had in Nashville. jak

I am very disappointed with the Nashville Scene. I am an ensworth student. The picture you put up of MBA was terrible and very misleading. Also, write your story right. Hooked on Phonix was not the only chant and do not write a biast article. Ensworth deserved to be interviewed as well. You are a crude editor for letting an article like this get through.
