Re: “Confessions of a Beauty Addict

Please - as the only female in my house, making sure I have my morning alone time with M.A.C. is the only way I can stop being pulled into the vortex of testosterone that surrounds me. I know people may think I try too hard but they can suck it up. I can't help it that I come from a long line of women who felt there was no greater crime than being seen out in public without full hair and makeup. And while I think there are far greater crimes than that, having kids has made me look so tired and old that going without makeup is just not an option. I simply could not do that to the general public.

Re: “Confessions of a Beauty Addict

I wouldn't let their insecurities get to you. You were raised right to take pride in your appearance. It is a gift to yourself, and to your husband.

Re: “Confessions of a Beauty Addict

I used to be a little-to-no makeup person, but now that I've entered my thirties I feel like I look tired and washed-out without it.

Currently I'm on bedrest with my second baby, and I have trouble taking the time for anything besides yoga clothes and ponytails. If I take the time to throw on some lip gloss and mascara, though, I feel so much more like a "real" person!

Re: “Confessions of a Beauty Addict

Seriously? I wear makeup twice a year, usually throw my hair in a ponytail, and often leave the house in workout clothes, but I have no problem with other women looking good.
NEVER apologize for fabulousness. Or is the correct term fabulosity? Whatever, we all need to be who we are.

Re: “Confessions of a Beauty Addict

We all have our gifts, Lindsay, and one of yours is looking fabulous! Don't apologize for it. Just take our avowals of envy and frustrated inferiority as the compliments that they actually are.

I'm not very put together, generally, but I NEVER leave the house without lipstick (even though my husband, contrary man that he is, is not a big fan of lipstick and wishes I would go without makeup altogether.) My lips are the exact same color as my skin, so when I don't wear it, I look like a Peanuts character with a horizontal black slash of a mouth and no lips. I refuse to be seen in public without lips!

Re: “Confessions of a Beauty Addict

I feel you... While my mother has always had short boyish hair and no real interest in makeup or clothes, I ended up on the opposite. I feel like in our society women (and men to some extent) are judged not just on our looks but how much effort we put into being attractive. As long as you aren't seen as a threat the way people treat you is so much better. I don't even check my mail until I've done my makeup and hair, and I've just now at 27 returned to my natural hair color for the first time since I was 12. I didn't even remember what it was. Anyway, taking some time to yourself to invest in your appearance makes you feel good, and to hell with anyone who makes you feel bad for being you.

Re: “Confessions of a Beauty Addict

I'm somewhere in the middle of the "comfortable and not caring" and "makeup applied every morning at 6:00 a.m. sharp" Mom crowd. I long to be dressed up and put together every day of the week, but then reality sets in and I just want to curl up in my Old Navy sweats (hubby calls me Johnny Cash because they're all black) and throw my hair in a pony tail.

I draw the line, however, when I go to the grocery store - I MUST have makeup on and look somewhat decent. Because the one time I let myself go, I will run into 7 people I went to high school with. It's just a law of nature, I think. :)

You're motivating me to fix myself up, though. If you'll excuse me, I'm off to reapply my lipstick and swipe my cheeks with some blush!!! ;)

Oh my! This article makes me realize just how sheltered I am. Never-the-less, I would love you to visit my blog today (August 20th). You'll find crafts and patriotism, all in the same post.

Re: “Southern Exposure: An adventure with thongs and pearls in the world of boudoir photography

Love this post. I have my boudoir shot this week. With my upcoming mastectomy, I thought it would be a nice gesture for my husband. And a way to honor my body.

Re: “Southern Exposure: An adventure with thongs and pearls in the world of boudoir photography

Ive done some boudoir photos. I put them in a black leather album with just some photo corners and gave it to my hub for our anniversary. He was blown away.

And the sex kitten totally cracked me up.

I did this a couple months ago with some of my friends. We made a night of it, brought wine and snacks and had a blast!

Re: “Southern Exposure: An adventure with thongs and pearls in the world of boudoir photography

I would love to do this! Of course, my good friend takes them so it wouldn't be TOO uncomfortable, and if I lose that last 10 pounds, I might just go for it. But probably more the "Stephanie" route... not so much the "Gina" route. :)

I think its so cute that on Laura's site the gallery of Sex Kitten is an actual cat. He is totally hamming it up for the camera. What a talented photographer!

Re: “Southern Exposure: An adventure with thongs and pearls in the world of boudoir photography

two reactions...1. I am ROLLING in the floor. The most hilarious post ever!
2. No way do I have the guts to do that, and if I did, then my hubby would expect me to look like the picture every time. Um no.
