Re: “'They Spank Me Because They Love Me'

Incidentally, an extention to the question you raise would be why is it okay to hit people for money (many professional sports), but not okay otherwise? So, "we, as a society" have a lot of questions to answer.

Re: “'They Spank Me Because They Love Me'

How does it differ? Well, for one thing, I think we all agree that parents are supposed to discipline their children (in some fashion) and that we, as parents, are responsible for their behavior. We *don't* agree that people are supposed to discipline their spouses or that they are responsible for their spouses' behavior (though I suspect that some portions of our society do feel this way, but it is no longer generally accepted in American society).

Just a reminder to folks on both sides of the spanking issue: there's no instruction manual that comes with children and many of us just do what our family and peers do or what we recall from our childhood (though some of us try to avoid things we thought were wrong). It's a difficult thing to accept that how we grew up may not have been right and often, it may take something like this to make positive changes.

Sometimes the Camino teaches the weak to be strong…..and the strong to be weak-both equally valuable lessons.

Re: “Victoria Jackson, the Heart and Soul of Williamson County and the ButtleOpener

Victoria's 912 Project candidates just voted Mark Gregory school board chair 7 to 4 with one abstaining! That's WilCo heart and soul right there.
