Re: “Nashville Recap: ‘It’s Sure Gonna Hurt’

Can someone answer this question?: How was it that Gunnar IMMEDIATELY knew Elton John's song well enough to not only PERFORM it, but to rock the house with it? The album just came out! Did he lock himself in a room and immerse himself in it since he bought the damn thing, just IN CASE Elton somehow called on him? Is that why his romances always fail? And is Elton THAT hard up for guitarists/fellow performers/back-up singers?

Re: “Trailer Park: Ghostbusters, Queen of Katwe and Sausage Party

Still more Ghostbusters backlash:

http://www.indiewire.com/article/ghostbusters-reboot-2016-youtube-critic-cinemassacre-dumb-reasons-20160518

“The gendered outcry around the film has dominated social media and YouTube comments for months now, with fanboys tripping over themselves to defend the original film as if it were a religious text and not a goofy comedy, and to prove they are in fact not sexist just because they're harshly targeting the film sight unseen."

Of course, the fact that the new Ghostbusters are female has NOTHING to do with the outrage that male Millennials and Gen Xers have directed against it!

Re: “Nashville Recap: ‘It’s Sure Gonna Hurt’

"Will is at home, building a new relationship with his father who was insanely mean, right up until he wasn’t."

That's a perfect description of every character on this show!

Anyway, I guess I'll just wait around for the spin-offs:

"Tandy, the Sister Who Lives in a Closet Until You Need Her to Watch the Kids!"

"Teddy Conrad: Inmate #BR-549"

"Whatever Happened To Rayna's Best Friend, Coleman Carlisle?"

"The Further Adventures of Vita, the Homeless Genius Songwriter"

"Peggy Kenter, Jason Scott, and Lamar Wyatt: Gone And Pretty Much Immediately Forgotten"

Re: “Nashville Recap: ‘It’s Sure Gonna Hurt’

Good lord, I'm going to miss these.

Today's description of Scarlett made me LOLZ at my desk...the desk where I'm working.

Was that photographer the chick in the well from Silence of the Lambs?

Re: “ABC's Nashville Reportedly Canceled After Four Seasons; Real Nashville Mayor 'Incredibly Disappointed'

The recaps made me love the show more. She gets that no one should take it seriously.

I will miss the scarlett-isms the most I think. They were always just so perfectly accurate.

Re: “A handful of the most promising official bills — and one unofficial bill — at the Wild West Comedy Festival

The Kyle Kinane show at Basement East is not affiliated in any way with the Wild West Comedy Festival- "technical" or otherwise.

It's misleading to use Kyle's photo to promote the festival and it's inaccurate to refer to the show as a WWCF "unofficial bill".

Kyle Kinane is simply headlining the Basement East on 5/16, and that show is a Corporate Juggernaut production.

Re: “ABC's Nashville Reportedly Canceled After Four Seasons; Real Nashville Mayor 'Incredibly Disappointed'

Wonder if Lionsgate can extort $10M a year from the state to produce a ratings dog on a subscription-based streaming service as opposed to a national over-the-air syndicate like ABC (who won't touch it now because it demonstrably is inadequate in delivering an audience to its advertisers).

I'd love to see Netflix pick up where the show left off.

Re: “ABC's Nashville Reportedly Canceled After Four Seasons; Real Nashville Mayor 'Incredibly Disappointed'

I liked it at the beginning because it showed everyone about the music industry. I was interested in how things got done. I liked how it taught me something.

Sometimes, how relationships are created purely for expansion of the "brand".

How talented people can't get ahead, and how it feels to be a performer, how mediocre talent can get ahead if they fit the mold expected of them.

I loved the characters, with a couple of exceptions.

Juliette- could steal a scene---The Best. I don't think I ever cried watching a TV show---she made me bawl.
Rayna always showed me how to be kind and remain calm when the worst swirled around her(however; that did change).
First season, Avery- such a jerk, but then written to be oh so sympathetic the next.
Scarlett, a piece of faded Halloween crepe paper stuck in a tree, flailing in the wind in February, just starting to poke her turtle head out of that Bazooka Joe turtleneck. She'd be Kicking asses soon, and I could barely wait.
I will miss the recaps A GREAT DEAL!!! Recap EMPIRE...I am begging you.
There are some great metaphors in those characters too.

Re: “ABC's Nashville Reportedly Canceled After Four Seasons; Real Nashville Mayor 'Incredibly Disappointed'

I see that Doyle has already defended our (CORRECT) spelling of the word "canceled." We use that word a lot around here, Christy. We know how to spell it. (Yes, the Nashville International Airport misspells it on its flight-update board when flights are canceled.)

Now, if you're Canadian, British or Australian, then I understand your qualm. Those folks go with "cancelled."

Anyway. Back to your regularly scheduled comments section.
