Re: “Wanna see a clash of the titans? Watch the Susan Lynn/Mae Beavers grudge match.

I also remember the campaign that Lynn ran against Joslin, very well. Lynn pulled every evil and critical card she could possibly dig up. Political Insider, you could not be more correct. Lynn never bothered to mention that the Joslin family suffered the loss of a son, brother, and angel and were overwhelmed with the medical bills.
Lynn has always made an attempt to push the words "Jesus" and "Christianity" in all of her speeches and constantly victimizes herself. When will she take responsibility for her actions? Never. Steve Gill did a wonderful job describing her true self.

Susan Lynn disgusts me.
Full support for Mae Beavers here.

Who released this email? It looks like it was a private exchange between Gill and Mrs. Lynn?

Re: “Wanna see a clash of the titans? Watch the Susan Lynn/Mae Beavers grudge match.

I remember the campaign that Lynn ran against Bobby Joslin. Beavers refused to endorse any candidates in that primary and that made Lynn very, very mad. She believed herself to be the heir apparent to the Beavers' seat. That is what really started "The Rift". Further, Beavers (privately) disagreed with Lynn's scorched earth campaign tactics against her opponents, particularly when Lynn made public the fact that Joslin had declared bankruptcy. Lynn neglected to mention that the reason for the bankruptcy were the medical bills that mounted up against him during his son's lengthy illness. The illness ultimately took his son's life and left the family in dire financial straights. Lynn broadcast the partial details about Joslin's personal financial problems while portraying herself as a Jesus loving Christian in every campaign speech. Hmmmm...."what would Jesus do?" indeed.

Re: “Wanna see a clash of the titans? Watch the Susan Lynn/Mae Beavers grudge match.

Too bad that made absolutely no sense WilsonCountyLongTimer.

Susan is anything but classy, she used Mae's cancer as a campaign promo for herself. Good try through. You should check your definition of "classy" because last time I checked it did not mean mud dishing and gossiping.

Good try though.

Re: “Wanna see a clash of the titans? Watch the Susan Lynn/Mae Beavers grudge match.

Stay classy Susan. If Mae keeps refusing to comment, then you just keep dishing the mud. I mean, if you won't share the gossip and tell all the little slights and innuendos, who will? Clearly, this is all Mae's fault.

Re: “With a courageous — and considered — vote for health care reform, Rep. Jim Cooper stands tall in a historic moment

The title of this article should read "an historic moment." Do you proofread this stuff?

Re: “With a courageous — and considered — vote for health care reform, Rep. Jim Cooper stands tall in a historic moment

I don't trust politicians who march in lock-step with their party leadership, regardless of the merits (good or bad) of any bill being considered. Jim Cooper does not appear to be one to kiss the ring of Queen Pelosi, but rather makes her grant boons to him in order to have his support. Rather than foaming at the mouth because I disagree with him on some things, I appreciate his ability to study a bill and make rational arguments for or against - even when his analysis is wrong in my opinion. Time will tell on this health care debate and we'll either find that it is the best thing since sliced bread, or our grandchildren will curse us for letting this happen, or (as usual) it will be both good and bad with "fixes" in the future.

Re: “With a courageous — and considered — vote for health care reform, Rep. Jim Cooper stands tall in a historic moment

Enough with the bitter RW talking points about the bill being "shoved thorough". Republicans had their chance and they made bad arguments. They relied too often on fearmongering fables about Socialism and "death panels". Really now -- does anyone think Jim Cooper is a socialist? It's deeply ironic that Cooper caught all kinds of grief from the liberal side because he didn't support the bill for some time, primarily I think because it didn't meet his critria for fiscal responsibility. I thought that move was a little overwrought, also. Now the flip side is happening. Big surprise. I wonder where all the disgruntled people here were when Republicans were actually jamming the Medicare prescription bill down America's throat when they knew the figures they gave were 30% off and Tom DeLay bad unethical deals with Republicans? I wonder if they even know the suggestion of the individual mandate stated with Republicans? For fun, everyone should review Grassley and Orrin Hatch's sudden memory loss on why they sponsored a bill with a mandate in the Clinton years. Now..literally..both of them have the same response. They can't remember why they did it. But now it's just terrible. There are ways to criticize this bill and legitimate reasons to do it. Some vary, some may have an overlap between both parties. I have no problem with that but whining "Fire Jim Cooper" is not a very compelling one. THANK YOU, JIM COOPER!

Re: “With a courageous — and considered — vote for health care reform, Rep. Jim Cooper stands tall in a historic moment

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is never right. They do their best to make educated guesses as to what the expenses will be, but they are only guesses. This legislation is going to cost us money. There is no way around it. We cannot insure an additional 30 million Americans for no cost, and much less save the nation money.

Re: “With a courageous — and considered — vote for health care reform, Rep. Jim Cooper stands tall in a historic moment

Thank you, Representative Jim Cooper, for supporting health reform. On behalf of our children, thank you for adding to our $8 trillion dollar debt, projected to be $12 trillion over the next ten years. Thank you for passing reform in a partisan manner with shady deals and budgetary trickery. Thank you for misleading the public by not including the $200 billion+ “doctor fix”, double counting Medicare cuts, and counting 10 years of revenue with only six years of outflow. Thank you, Jim Cooper, for excluding yourself from health reform and mandating it for us, your humble constituents. Most of all, thank you for hurting our senior citizens by cutting $ 500 billion in Medicare. Yeah, thanks a lot.

Jim and his buddies in Washington who are shoving this down the throats of the majority of americans will find the real public reaction in the next two elections. I think the change that was proimised is coming.

Re: “Mike McWherter is becoming the Democrats' contender in the governor's race by default — which could be the party's best hope

Ned Ray McWherter was a huge supporter of Senator Al Gore, helping to make him Vice President in the Clinton administration. If you like the way Ned replaced the Medicaid program with the TennCare system in Tennessee, and Al's global warming tax plans, vote for his son Michael Ray McWherter.

Re: “Mike McWherter is becoming the Democrats' contender in the governor's race by default — which could be the party's best hope

Hey, Nashville Scene: Don't "write off" KIM McMILLAN. She is as qualified as any in the race of either party because of her experience both in government and out. Her vision for education and employment in the state can lead us to become a model for other states. Taking nothing away from the other candidates, she has a heart for the people of the state which won't allow her to forget who who is working for when she is in office. She is hard working and will make a great chief executive for Tennesseans. Sincerely, Jesse

Re: “Mike McWherter is becoming the Democrats' contender in the governor's race by default — which could be the party's best hope

Don't be so ridiculous as to count out Kim McMillan! She is far and away the most qualified, experienced, and capable candidate!

Re: “Mike McWherter is becoming the Democrats' contender in the governor's race by default — which could be the party's best hope

1. Kim is qualified. She had been a leader in the House and as an appointed senior advisor for one of TNfs best Governorsfs, being Bredesen. 2. Kim has lived the American dream - adopted by two school teachers she has beat the odds to become everything she wanted to be. 3. Kim has strong Knoxville ties. She went to school here; she got her undergrad and law degrees from UT. Living side by side with use has given her a clear understanding of who we are. Kim is rare in the fact that she will have this direct experience in ET, which is a real powerhouse in statewide elections. 4. Kim is good for business. In her role as the Executive Director of Community and Business Relations at Austin Peay, she has direct experience working and growing businesses and industries. She was also the recipient of the Athena Award, the highest honor for women in business. She is the chairman of Cumberland Bank & Trust, a community bank. In a poll released on October 9th, 2009 by the Nashville Business Journal, Democratic candidate for Governor Kim McMillan was the only Democrat to win support among the publicationfs readers. Letfs not forget that Kim worked to form a partnership between the state of Tennessee, Austin Peay State University, and Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation to attract their $1.2 billion polysilicon manufacturing center with 500-800 high-paying, sustainable jobs for Tennessee. This win is starting to pay dividends for TN as other companies are now interested in us. ET is a national leader in energy technology. Kim will continue Bredesenfs scientific partnerships that leads to new business and jobs. 5. Kim is a leader. She is the former House Majority Leader - the first women to hold this title in TN. Elect Women Magazine has said that she is a top national viable female candidate for governor. She has received numerous awards for excellence for various local and statewide organizations. Those donft come without hard work and leadership. Kim is a founding board member of Leadership Middle Tennessee. 6. Kim is smart. She graduated with honors from UT! I thought Bredesen was smart, but if he asked her to advise him there has got to get something special there. Think about that. 7. Kim understand health care. Kim serves on the board of the Monroe Carell, Jr. Childrenfs Hospital. She has been recognized by the TN Hospital Association for our excellent work and leadership. 8. Kim has a family. Kim has been married for 20 years and has two kids. She understands family life, the demands, the needs, the dreams. 9. Kim is a woman. This demographic will turn out to vote for the strong woman that Kim is. As for the men votes, she is a g10 as she really has it all - shefs pretty, smart, a great mother, and would make a great spokeswoman for Tennessee as we tackle the hard problems facing the state and the country. 10. Kim can (and will) win! The GOP will be hard on each other during their primary. Who ever comes out of it, will need to do some healing. Kim has the broad support across the State and she is not the son of a former Governor like McWherter, and she is not Kim gMcMillionsh like her GOP opponents, therefore she has the fight to take it to the GOP candidates face-to-face to win.

Re: “Mike McWherter is becoming the Democrats' contender in the governor's race by default — which could be the party's best hope

I have known Kim Ambrester McMillan since she was 12 years old and living in Texas. She is one of the most grounded, brilliant, engaging women I have known. If Tennessee elects her as their next governor it will not be political business as usual it will be getting the job done to enable all Tennesseeans to thrive. As a graduate of the University of Tennessee I know that the state needs this woman of vision. Don't count her out - just count the votes of the grassroots that are supporting her.

Re: “Mike McWherter is becoming the Democrats' contender in the governor's race by default — which could be the party's best hope

Kim is an excellent candidate who has a campaign that has stretched across this entire state. She is the only candidate on either side of the aisle that has experience in both the legislative and executive branches. She has experience building her own law practice, as well. Kim's campaign has relied on building a grass roots base of support which is reflected in her donor rolls where she has the most supporters of any Democratic candidate! Kim is a strong viable candidate who listens to people, engages people, and has a vision for Tennessee that involves all citizens and relies on improved educational opportunities combined with partnerships to improve the economic and educational status of our state!

Re: “Mike McWherter is becoming the Democrats' contender in the governor's race by default — which could be the party's best hope

I could not disagree with you more. Kim McMillan has been my candidate of choice right from the very beginning. Her fundraising efforts have improved recently. As she gets out and talks with people across the state, they are very impressed with her qualifications and background. She has the experience in state government from both the legislative and executive branches. Her experience in higher education is also impressive. She listens to people which is one thing I really admire about her. She will make a great governor!
