Re: “While Republicans hardliners nip at Bill Haslam's heels, Mike McWherter rolls over and plays dead

Thanks, bubbadorun! Howard Switzer, the Green Party's candidate for Governor, is somebody that a progressive Democrat could vote for without holding his/her nose, unlike Mike "me, too" McWherter, who seems to be a RIDD (Republican in Democrat Drag)....with the conventional wisdom being that Haslam is a shoo-in, I would strongly encourage Democrats who want to send a message to the state party about its rightward drift to vote for Howard.

Re: “Between Zach Wamp's secessionism, Ron Ramsey's cult of Islam and Basil Marceaux dot com, the governor's race couldn't get much weirder

It just hit me: God decides everything, right? At least for reslugliKlans. (He put bu$h in office twice, despite the vote count both times.) That means He didn't want teagagger Ramsey or secessionist/traitor Wamp to be our next governor.

Or Sarah Palin anywhere near the White House.

Correction for the record

Re: “Between Zach Wamp's secessionism, Ron Ramsey's cult of Islam and Basil Marceaux dot com, the governor's race couldn't get much weirder

The secession thing is just rhetoric for voters who are fed up with the rampant corruption and endless "free" goodies paid for with debt. Wamp thinks he could make things better, or else he wouldn't be running. Why do you object to speaking truth to power?

Ramsey is rightly suspicious of Muslims. They talk out of both sides of their mouth. Mosques today, bombs tomorrow. America has no use for any of it.

Also, comparing legitimate candidates with some YouTube comedian is a trick that won't work. I think even someone with a public school education can see past that one.

What is really crazy is how The Scene gets behind Mr. Moneybags. You like to pretend you're alternative, but the fact is you're establishment all the way.

Re: “While Republicans hardliners nip at Bill Haslam's heels, Mike McWherter rolls over and plays dead

My wife was surprised this past Friday evening when A C Wharton got mentioned and pointed at twice during the Jackson Day Celebration, once by Mike McWherter himself. I had to explain to her that A C was the only person from Memphis they could find who supported McWherter.

Re: “While Republicans hardliners nip at Bill Haslam's heels, Mike McWherter rolls over and plays dead

Well with bat shit crazies on the one side and a hereditary party hack on the other, I'm starting to think that a Green candidate might actually have a chance.
After all those hippies didn't screw up the Gulf, they didn't steal the economy and they aren't taking people's homes... aah yes.
Maybe when the Berlin Wall comes down or a black guy becomes President or ... or something else unimaginable 20 years ago (you know, conventional wisdom.).

I was hoping that one of them would have the guts to say that ID (creationism)is not science. None of them will get my vote. Mickey Mouse would make a good choice.

Re: “While Republicans hardliners nip at Bill Haslam's heels, Mike McWherter rolls over and plays dead

the more i delve on this the more sickened i am for our state. what a lack of choices for governor. either we have a bunch of bickering 'family values, ie: conservative christians creationist' republican candidates who do nothing but spit out twaddle as to who is more conservaive than who or a democrat that is pretty much non-existant.
if i were to pick the not the worst, default canidate, i am going to write in mickey mouse. at least he makes more sense than the rest of this pack of fools.
o wait, crap i can't do that, he lives in florida. another bastion of 'christian' values.
where is john jay hooker when you need him?

Re: “While Republicans hardliners nip at Bill Haslam's heels, Mike McWherter rolls over and plays dead

So all the candidates are creationists who deny the fact of evolution, which is just as ridiculous and just as wrong as if they insisted the earth is flat in spite of all evidence to the contrary. Anyone that out of touch with reality should not be in any position of authority anywhere. In fact, if they actively sabotage the science education of American children in public schools, perhaps they should be tried for treason?

Hey, I hope Wamp and Ramsey are right about Haslam. I'd love a tax-happy liberal in disguise over McWherter.

Re: “The Democrats' favorite spittle-flecked Republican, Zach Wamp, lets his loony flag fly on the campaign trail

Since when was abortion God's single litmus test issue? From the Bible one would think it would be caring for widows, orphans, prisoners, the hungry, the homeless and God's creation plus manifesting a nature compassion, justice, truth, gratitude, humility, faith, peace and obedience. I'd like to live in a state where those values informed public policy. That sure would improve quality of life, confidence in government, standing with our Creator and who knows it might even lead to something really important like economic development.

Zach Wamp's election would move Tennessee forward. Oh, it is 1210 isn't it?

Now wait a minute, Zack, China has a good economy and they encourage abortions.

And what about the oil spill that has ruined so many Southern Baptist lives?

(Maybe God hates creationists.)

Re: “The Democrats' favorite spittle-flecked Republican, Zach Wamp, lets his loony flag fly on the campaign trail

Right. That’s all it takes.

If only we stopped abortions, everyone would have jobs, and the stock prices would go up, and the oil spill would be cleaned, and the angels would sing.

of course, most people in this State would have no problem voting for someone with that simple of a mindset....

Re: “The Democrats' favorite spittle-flecked Republican, Zach Wamp, lets his loony flag fly on the campaign trail

As of today, thousands of people have been affected by the BP oil spill. Small business owners and fisherman have been financially ruined by the reckless actions of BP. The destruction caused by BP has devastated communities in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.

Yet we still have politicians pandering to BP and their corrupt oil industry. Texas Republican congressman Joe Barton opposed the 20 billion dollar relief fund established by BP for the victims of the spill. He apologized to the BP executives for having to create this fund.

Kentucky Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul stated that opposition to BP was "Un-American."

GOP Minnesota congressman stated that "BP was being "fleeced" and that the company was a victim of a "20 billion shakedown."

Knoxville Oilman Bill Haslam is running for Governor of Tennessee. He has promised to bring jobs to every county in Tennessee. But he has failed to criticize or denounce the corporate oil leadership at BP. Thousands of jobs are being lost in the Southeast due to the oil industry. Bill Oilman Bill Haslam remains silent on the oil disaster in the Gulf. The time has come for Oilman Bill Haslam to publicly reject the actions of BP in the Gulf of Mexico.

Tennessee and the Southeast deserve better than Bill Haslam's Oil industry.

Abortion is not explicitly prohibited anywhere within the 613 or so biblical laws attributed to Moses in the Jewish Bible (Old Testament), nor is abortion explicitly prohibited anywhere within the Christian New Testament by Jesus or His discliples...

It's also funny how Zach's ad features 'red and yellow, black and white' 'constituents' passing along his 'plan,' one to the next, without actually reading it. But isn't that how Congress works?
