Re: “With Democrats effectively sidelined, get ready for the Republican agenda

I am against all worker rights. So what if we workers do all the actual work. I say government for the rich by the rich, for the corporations by the corporations. No worker rights no healthcare unless the rich say you can have it. no environmental legislation. I vote republican to ensure these things. In the one party system with two heads (Demopublicans and republicrats) for the rich: Democrats are owned by the same wealthy people but they at least use some rhetoric to pretend they are on the side of the people. I don't even want to hear such rhetoric. Everything for the wealthy I say straight up. Vote Republican! Fight with your neighbors over the phony lib vs conservative BS the wealthy promote so they can better loot us.

Sometimes intelligence is obvious in the first sentence.

Re: “With Democrats effectively sidelined, get ready for the Republican agenda

Woods appears to another "Party Person"----someone who could give two ishts about the big picture as long as his party wins. He's taking pleasure in the fact that the pubs will inherit state budget/financial issues from a dem gov't. Let that sink in for a moment.

Btw, Beth Harwell is a member of the Belle Meade Country Club. Who was that judge that Bush was courting that got excoriated b/c he belonged to that discriminatory organization?

Re: “With Democrats effectively sidelined, get ready for the Republican agenda

Once again Woods shows both his hypocrisy as well as his bias. He accuses Dims of "acting like Republicans", yet he bemoans the fact that Republicans don't wish to vote Harwell as Speaker, a woman whom is a Dim in everything but name.

Actually, perhaps Woods is showing his blatent ignorance instead?

Is firing an unloaded gun that same as drinking an empty glass of wine?

Re: “Barring a miracle, next week's elections portend a historic Republican rout

Steven,
you guys don't get it. The majority in Tennessee is furious by what they see: Over 17% of true unemployment, house forclosure, bankrupties. People would vote for the dog next door if he promised changes. It took Obama months to get the idea that people need a job more than health insurance. And many people have long noticed that the values they grew up with and loved were outlawed with accelerating speed. Now, that personal misery is bringing them away from the TV screen all this turns into an avalanche. So stop whining you guys had your day.

If Andrew Jackson heard you comparing him to the modern-day Democrats, he'd have your scalp, Woods!

Re: “Barring a miracle, next week's elections portend a historic Republican rout

When I started in Shelby County politics 32 years ago, it was REpublican, pretty much, other than Harold Ford, Senior. I've been in campaigns at EVERY level, and some nameless troll's comments are meaningless,

When you've done something, and are willing to put your name on it, come talk to me.

Re: “Barring a miracle, next week's elections portend a historic Republican rout

So Steven,

You admit that you and your friends aren't helping rural Dems. Why would you expect them to listen to you if you won't go out and help them? Business will give them money if they support them, and they will support the Repubs if they don't. It seems like most "progressives" will bitch and moan if a rural Dem only votes 70%-90% how they want, but won't lift a finger to help. No wonder so many rural Dems choose to side against "progressives"!

If you would take the time to actually put in the hours helping in a close rural race I am sure that many of the legislators you bitch about would begin to listen to your ideas.

Re: “Barring a miracle, next week's elections portend a historic Republican rout

Steve Steffens is the biggest crybaby in Tennessee. He and his Chipinista morons rallied to get Chip elected chairman on the claim that they didn't need the Blue Dogs. They promised a grassroots revolution that would sweep Democrats back into power.

Where is it, you simpering child? You have "a real Democrat" as your party chair. Where are those "boots on the ground" he claimed he could raise?

Face it, Steffens, you and Chip failed miserably. If you can't accept responsibility for your own failure, then why don't you be a man and shut the hell up?

Re: “Barring a miracle, next week's elections portend a historic Republican rout

Well, Buffoon, (how apt is that?) I don't hang around fatcats, maybe that's why.

While it's true most candidates in Shelby County are locked in either way, there's Herron's campaign (gee, why aren't Democrats flocking to THAT race, eh?) and there's McWherter's campaign, which has been out spent since the beginning.

Quite frankly, I look at most of the Democratic campaigns outside Shelby or Davidson and see them running as pseudo-Republicans. Why vote for that when you can vote for the real thing?

To steal a Barry Goldwater line, I want a CHOICE, not an ECHO. I know what the GOP stands for, and I want no part of it. I just want the Democrats outside the urban counties to stand in REAL opposition; if they're not going to bother, why are they in the Democratic Party?

I love watching you people squirm! Looks like TN might be to the Republicans what MD is to the Dems. Let's see whose economy does better over the next decade...

Re: “Barring a miracle, next week's elections portend a historic Republican rout

Steven,

Bullshit! Why is it that nearly every campaign is struggling for volunteers if most people you know are volunteering? Why is the TNDP struggling for money if most people you know are giving money?

Side note: volunteering for candidates that cant lose, or cant win doesnt count.

Re: “Barring a miracle, next week's elections portend a historic Republican rout

Um, who in the hell are you talking about? Most people I know have given money AND time wherever they happen to be. The .lobbyists quit giving to Democrats because they sensed the wave coming.

We did what we could DESPITE being ignored, so you have no clue about what you speak.

Re: “Barring a miracle, next week's elections portend a historic Republican rout

Steve,

There is only so much you can blame on Bredesen. If you want to argue his people defunded the party, then why didnt all the progressives step up and fill the gap. If they wouldn't help because they were pissed at Bredesen's people, then it appears Chip couldn't get the support of either wing of the party.

The fact of the matter is this, most of the progressive "leaders" and groups(including non-profits) have done nothing to help any tight race this year(and no going to wine and cheese parties or $25 dollar fundraisers to "be seen" or spending a total of 2-3 hours canvassing, or blogging about shit doesn't count). On the other hand, Repub groups gladly work their asses off for their people, whether moderate or nutjob.

As long as progressives "complain from the sidelines" instead of "offer suggestions from campaign volunteers", you can't expect to change legislative minds.

Re: “Barring a miracle, next week's elections portend a historic Republican rout

Jeff, have you forgotten that many of us DO pay attention?

http://speaktopower.org/2010/03/glen-casad…

It's just that the same old good ole boys who think Bredesen can do no wrong (and make money off the TNDP to produce losing campaigns) have shut us out of the process. THEY are the ones who have caused this, because the damn fools still think it's 1992. Chip has not helped, but his hands were tied early on by Bredesen and his people. They wouldn't change direction, and look where we are because of it.
