Re: “A 17-year ordeal ends for two murder victims' mothers, as a grisly unsolved crime is laid to rest

I feel for the parents of these dead girls but they girls made one bad decision after another after another. They could've made almost as much $ working Hooters or even as strippers. Instead they decided to work as sexual prostitutes. Yes, they had a choice. Yes, they were over 18 & made their own decisions.

I also note it wasn't a customer who killed these girls but the thug BF of one of them. Add that one to yet another bad decision made by that one.

Since Min teaches at McGavock, perhaps she had the thug killer in one of her classes?

Re: “Pat Postiglione, the detective who's closed some of Nashville's most notorious cold cases, looks back on his 33-year career

I was a reporter, but was walking in off the street as a citizen, the first time I encountered Postiglione. It was 2000. Word came that a dear friend was dead, with no info on what happened. I walked into the CJC and asked if anyone in homicide could tell me what happened.

After some wait, he came out to the lobby. He was at pains to assure me it was suicide, not murder -- but I told him I had no doubt about that conclusion. My friend had tried before. Other friends and I just wanted to know what happened. I was just a guy in off the street, and he owed me no time. But I remember how compassionate he was.

In 2011-12, Jeffrey Womack and I threatened litigation in order to get access to the Marcia Trimble case file. Pat was the only guy on the force anymore who knew where it was in the archives. MNPD told me he had spent a Friday night on his own time digging it out.

Jeffrey, his attorney John Hollins and I ended up publishing a book harshly critical of MNPD's conduct throughout most of the Trimble case from 1975 to 2007. I tried to make sure we made clear that the criticism did not apply to Pat. I think he is a real pro, and I hope his talent and qualifications are representative of the caliber of detectives MNPD now has on the job.

Re: “In remembrance of local musician, blogger and promoter Ben Todd, dead at 24

Beautifully written and an amazing tribute to this fine young man who touched a whole city. I met the kid once and his energy/enthusiasm/vibe was amazing and can still be felt when thought about. This brought tears to my eyes. He was one of those people that when you're feeling down, his smile or energy snaps you out of it. It's sometimes hard to see the light through the dark days but we all have to remember to look out for one another. If someone falls down, we have to pick them back up. Sometimes there is nothing more we can do, but we can remember them for what they were, are, and always will be. Take note from this beacon of humanity and true rock 'n' roller. Ben said it best, "No more bummer days. Good times forever." -Ben Todd Nashville won't be the same!

Re: “The State Museum's new Civil War exhibit briefly displays Lincoln's handwritten Emancipation Proclamation — but that's not the whole story

I was fortunate enough to see the Emancipation Proclamation while it was on display at the Tennessee State Museum. Those who were not should not pass up the opportunity to see the remaining period exhibits before they, too, leave us.

Re: “The GOP supermajority must decide whether a federal windfall is worth a politically toxic dose of ObamaCare

The reason the business lobby is for the Medicaid expansion is because this is just another way to get the taxpayers to subsidize its workers and its profits.
