Re: “The popular Demonbreun strip loses its free parking, but it might gain business

I can't understand the complaints. The public has been using and abusing that lot for free for years. It's someone's private property. The public can't assume continued access to private property for free.

Think this one through, people. It's perfectly logical.

Re: “The popular Demonbreun strip loses its free parking, but it might gain business

I do not think it was fair to just all of a sudden close the area to parking!! But an alternative shuld have been made for the people that park there and go to work in the area!!!

Re: “Gov. Bill Haslam rejects a state-run exchange as the feds power up ObamaCare — but the choice may never have been his

Paraphrasing a recent Mallard Fillmore cartoon: Have a merry Christmas! Buy anything and everything you want and don't worry about the cost. You can charge it to your grandchildren.

Re: “Gov. Bill Haslam rejects a state-run exchange as the feds power up ObamaCare — but the choice may never have been his

The Nashville Scene is entitled to its opinion which, in essence, states that the governor was dishonest in his reasoning for not opting to run the exchange.

I believe the governor is honest in stating that we do not know what the Feds will require in operating the exchange and, given that federal funding for its operations stop after 2 years, can (or likely can) become an unfunded mandate putting pressure on Tennessee's budget.

I agree that the expansion of Medicaid is a monumental decision that the governor and the legislature must make. What will be the cost of this expansion (no number has been quoted in the media for this)? Given that the federal government will not fund the expansion after a period of time (I believe 2 years), what item in the budget must be raided to fund this expansion? We couldn't afford TennCare's expansion after 1994, requiring tough cuts by Governor Bredesen; why should we set ourselves up for failure again when the Supreme Court stated that we don't have to?

There's no free lunch....unless you're a Democrat able to tax the wealthy to pay for it.

Que orgullo! Casa Azafran is a beautiful building that honors the diversity of Nashville and celebrates our immigrant community. Thank you Conexion Americas!

Re: “Will legal wrangles force the Belle Meade Country Club to change its policies toward women and minorities?

Too many Americans are in prison today, and it is very important to improve the penitentiary system. You seem to be a very informed person in this kind of legal issues. You can publish articles about it on Attorney Online. This is a category with prison legal news http://attorney-online.info/news/prison/1-… You can publish links to legal sites in your articles promoting your legal services or services of other persons.

The Great "Bible Banging" state of the "Monkey Trial"...Tennessee wants to succeed from the Union!... Even though we got our "ASS" royally pulverized the last time we tried it...would like to "give it another try"...In Jesus (who morphed into a blue eyed white guy) name of course!

Re: “CCA's long legal feud with a persistent critic reaches a semantic impasse in appeals court

CCA and its chief competitor, GEO Group, have been fighting to keep their records secret for a dozen years, as they've defeated federal legislation during that time by spending millions each year on lobbyists and lawyers. They're determined to keep it secret because they do an unimaginably awful job of keeping prisoners.

In Tennessee they have lost three monster suits in the past few years of which I'm aware, but negotiated settlements kept their secrets. One was brought by the heirs of Estelle Richardson, who was murdered by their guards. Another was brought by the mother of Frank Horton, a psychotic prisoner driven mad by CCA, who was allowed to wallow unwashed in his own filth for many, many months, unable to communicate to the guards who looked through his door, because he was so mentally damaged. The last was by Metro Nashville Police Sergeant Mark Chesnut, who was shot five times by a CCA escapee from Mississippi, with the gun the killer took from his guard in that state.

This reads as though it was written by someone with little or no background in covering legal issues. Also, I agree with the first commenter.

Sounds like Anthony is a bigot. You`ll probably need to google that.I don`t know why you thought I was talking about you, but again you have proven my point. Have you served in the military? Perhaps read a bible? Have you voted? Get over it. Debate is what makes all things possible, your voice is no louder than mine.Go to work man, try to change what you think is wrong. To busy bitchen and moaning, I`m dumber for having this debate.

Re: “Modern-day secessionists want Tennessee to leave Obama's America — since it worked so well the first time

Never spoke any words against our military. Apparently Jim Hunt is one of the ignorant few i spoke about. But since you brought it up.The acts of(War) as described by our founding fathers. Were to be Voted on and approved by Congress. Before placing our Youth in harms way.A true (Patriot) would make sure that every law in accordance to the United States were upheld to the letter. Not ignorantly following the words of polititions with special interests in our Industrial war machine. (Haliburton much?) Counless Thousands of our patriotic youth fight and die not ever knowing that. Because,as I previously stated our federal education Standards have been lowered to the point of redundancey. Our country is currently ranked 29th in educational standards? Its hard to Question Actions by our Government if your ignorant to what they are doing, or what they have done.Republican,or Democrat. Doesnt matter. If they have forgotten the reason for being.I challeng Jim Hunt to Read and comprehend THE PATROIT ACT. Then Presidential directive 1988. Then tell me about what you think you know.Pre Obama Directives ,Written by Peoples that made up our Government, With proven Direct ties to special interests Groups,That have everything to gain if our Constitution fails, and the Industrial War Machines continue in the direction they have been, and are currently are headed. Jim Hunt,I wonder if you own a gun? I bet you didnt know That (Your Government ) is real busy with the U.N. Small arms treaty aqgreement ,to remove your gun,and your right to own one! Ever hear the term Look before you leap? Educate before you speak.Tyrany against our Constiution, and its Patriots are grounds for Change! For the record Jim ,I have extensive family ,and friends, past ,and present. That have givin theyre all for our country.Freedom is not Free, and if we sit Idle Neither will we be. Anthony R Hupcej Sr.

Our youth fights the wars, so we can have freedom. So people like you can have the right to bitch and moan. Afraid of change, new ideas, want to belittle and block other people rights.I stand as a Patriot for these United States of America. United we stand divided we fall. Get over it, time to move forward.

Re: “Modern-day secessionists want Tennessee to leave Obama's America — since it worked so well the first time

Our Constitution has been raped repeatedly, while we sit in our materialistic Me, Myself, and I-Ism comas! While the ole ,Us, and Them analogy's of Government owned Media fill your heads with What you Should be thinking. Not with Reallity, as understood by the people that do not fear our Government,or public opinion of the ignorant. The Issue of Seccesion was to Show our Government exactly how unaffraid of IT, we were not.Compliance to ignorance is our governments main objective.Has been since its Modern conception.WW2 Peace treaty's Hastily authured the end of our Constitutional rights. The Governments Ideals of Federalism,Democacy,World Police policies. Our Modern Goverment's Plans to non educate its populace.Led ultimately to our constitutional demise.I for one ,Will Stand my ground.I for one,Stand for all, that ignorantly refuse to see the big picture. For if our youth do not understand, reallize, defend, our(the Peoples) rights as Citizens of the United States. Then We Will Fall as a failed country, that forgot where we came from. Re: “Modern-day secessionists want Tennessee to leave Obama's America — since it worked so well the first time

Or are am I paying too much attention and actually know the real issues facing our country instead of the "news" being fed to us by the main stream media to distract us from them.

Below is just a small little clip.

My age group (I am 26) is very aware of the issues and is getting elected all over the place from local governments to Senate seats. It's really a shame that so few people actually understand the constitution and what it tells us.

Re: “Modern-day secessionists want Tennessee to leave Obama's America — since it worked so well the first time

Whenever any form of government becomes destructive, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government - Thomas Jefferson

What if I told you there is no difference between Democrats and Republicans?
That they just make you think there is a difference to give you the illusion of a choice?
Why do they talk about things like abortion and marriage when the constitution clearly says those are issues left to the states to decide? But never mention the real issues plaguing this country that both party agree on? The Federal Reserve, our flawed foreign policy, the failed war on drugs being just a small example.

Think about it and research it for yourself. The internet is a beautiful thing.

Re: “Demetria Kalodimos tells the story of Jeffrey Womack, the boy who didn't kill Marcia Trimble

>>The whole "covered by a tarp" tale was manufactured, as it were, out of the whole cloth.<<

Yet I seem to recall that academy recruits searched the very garage that Trimble was found in. If no tarp was involved, how was she missed? Was she covered by the wading pool?
