Not an entry into the contest, but the above picture is surely connected to this bizarre-o PSA:

Re: “Food for Thought: Which Nashville Restaurant Plays the Best (or Worst) Music?

I like the good old-fashioned jazz they play at Amerigo's. The times I've been to Ted Turner's they played a pretty good mix of blues, R&B and country-ish stuff.

Re: “Chris Crofton, Advice King: Quitting Your Band or Living the Dream; Stink Bugs

I second sir croftons summation. If your band isn't popular or successful in its first 6 months, it never will be. If you have a tolerable day job, focus on advancing in that. There is no garauntee of musical success, you will get older though and obligations of all types will pile up. Not to be cynical or cliche but opportunities to advance your position in life disappear very quickly. If you don't have a tolerable day job, focus on finding one. Music is just a hobby, imagine you were collecting stamps instead of playing in a band. Could you see yourself passing up opportunities to advance so you could focus on your stamps? I had many people tell me the same thing as this earlier in life and I didn't listen. The nay sayers are right, its a dark reality, but it could be worse.

Hattie B's (on Charlotte, not sure about Midtown) is usually playing some pretty sweet Motown and R&B every time I go in there, so they get my vote.

^^^ Yes, you do need decent music, just like you need good sight lines, lighting, seating, some art on the walls, and all the other factors that help make a space an inviting place to hang out.

If the food and company are great, do we need music?

Again, naysayers keep citing the truth to discredit this column, but truth requires either a lie or omission to do any damage. What exactly is untrue and what isn't being disclosed?
