Correction: [found the story of Jack Greene's passing and upcoming memorial service at www.musicrow.com]
Opry member Jack Green died yesterday at age 83. The memorial service is scheduled to be held at the Ryman on March 27th at 11AM. I have seen Jack Green (oh I forget if his last name is spelt with an extra "e" at the end) many times at the Opry and also listened to him performing "live" on WSM's "live" Opry shows. I definitely want to try and make it to his memorial service. Nashville/Music City puts on the best "Celebrations of Life" for its beloved dead music family members. I've attended memorial services at the Ryman Auditorium for Johnny Cash, Eddy Arnold and Earl Scruggs. I hope as many of you Nashville people will also try to make it to Jack Green's funeral/memorial service and help send him up to Heaven with great song and cheer. It'll be good to see the Opry Family at the Ryman for this "going away for the last time" service for another Opry member. [found the story of Jack's passing at www.tennessean.com]
I get Karen Elson as the "Model Citizen" because yes modeling is her profession. The only other name I recognized on the list is "The Singer" that someone chose to name Ruby Amanfu whose singing voice I don't care for. There are other great singers in Nashville whose voices are pleasing to my ear. Just because a rock star in town keeps giving her work doesn't mean she is the top notch singer in Music City. No, I'm not some jealous female wishing I were continually getting paying gigs from a famous rock star, I just wish I could listen to my Blunderbuss album without her voice on it since her singing voice is irritating to my ears, that's all. If her singing voice was pleasing to my ears and she sounded great harmonizing with the said rock star then I would have no complaints. I would recommend she try singing some gospel music which may be more beneficial to her singing voice and spiritual growth. I really didn't enjoy watching her practically humping said rock star when she toured and performed onstage with said rock star during his last tour. [There may be an issue there]. I just don't want to hear her voice on any more recorded music I would like to buy otherwise. I wish her well in any other endeaver but singing on the said rock star's recorded music I would enjoy otherwise. I think Ruby Amanfu is getting over-hyped in the Music City because she has been getting work with one of the town's top rock stars. Personally, I'm not going along with all of the hype and I won't be able to buy any more of the said rock star's music if Ruby Amanfu is singing on it since I don't care for her singing voice....just stating a personal fact. Also in Nashville, I have noticed that it isn't always the most talented who get the gigs, it's a who do they know and how hard are they sucking up that are getting the gigs. Nashville is making less and less of an impression on me anymore.

A walking target for hate groups? really? Name one. When was the last time you were harassed or accosted by anyone? Hate mail really? Lets see the police reports. Lets see the arrests. Its amazing just because there are people that dont like you or agree with you or can see thru you that is hate. No, its called living in a free country, which you have benefited greatly from, and having opinions. SO until you show the very public you are accusing things of , actual cases of crimes against you, please be quiet.
This is the same young radical woman that brought CAIR ( council on American islamic relations) to the capital to help bring attention to her plight. CAIR is also an unindicted co conspirator in this countrys largest terrorism finance trial. This is the same radical woman that stated during a June 2012 panel with the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding that "I didnt even know what sharia was, I like had to call imams from across the state and asked them what is sharia". This is also the same radical woman that during a meeting with members of the mosque stated "its not about religion anymore". Yes, she is a real good person to continue drooling over. The only thing she mobilizes is her deceit and lies before she walks into the capital.
Hi Sarah!
I'm still waiting for Roger Vandim's 1960 horror film "Blood and Roses" to be acquired by you guys....well, I can hope. Nice write-up by your company. You go girl.

Ruby is a standout. She has a voice and style which are quite unique and I couldn't be happier for her long overdue success here in the states. Her sound was captivating back in '06 when we were fortunate to hear her with Sam at the True Experience event in Duck Key. She was a lovely person as well; wish we had taken her up on her invitation to her villa for a bar-b-que. :)
Ms Grinder has been an amazing advocate for Tennessee veterans.
Ruby is a star! I am so thankful that you guys did a story highlighting her musical talents and amazing personality. She is so down to earth. Her voice and music take you on incredible journeys.
I assume that this is a rhetorical question: of course the State favors the poisoner over the people--we're a "business-friendly" state.
Landfill opponents: I have three questions for you. First, do you own or are you a senior officer in a large corporation that the landfill causes a problem for? Second, is there a senior member of the ruling Tennessee political party (currently Republican) that lives nearby? (preferably close enough to "enjoy" the landfill's distinctive bouquet) Third, have you been chummy with your local and state political representatives, and deeply lined their pockets in the process? The more questions that you answer in the negative, the more S.O.L. that you are.
Congrats to this years winners.
Kudos to Matt Blair for “Amélie” ...fantastic!
I have followed AMREN for several years. It is, to my knowledge, the only organization that assesses racial differences objectively and reports the consequences of varying kinds of integration. Of course it promotes separatism, which is preferred by all racial groups as far as tell. I am white and prefer to live around other whites, not out of a feeling of superiority, but out of a desire to be among my own kind and (not insignificantly) live in relative freedom from gang related and all violent crime. Since blacks are proven to be many times more likely to commit violent crime, and both asian and hispanic gangs now compete for turf in all large cities, get me the hell to where I can live in peace and safety among other people who want the same.
I am not a racist. I don't think I am superior to any man, (all men are created equal under the law here) but I choose to geographically distance my home from areas of high crime and potential for violent crime. As has been documented by others contributing to this discussion, where there are blacks there will be much greater numbers of violent crime and crime overall. It ain't hate. - it's the truth.
I usually don't comment on these things, but I actually agree with these people. Really glad my photos weren't apart of this. Some of the best ones were left in the dust for no reason. This shit is rigged. Has to be.
have to agree with the other commenters ... this selection is appalling.. i have snapshots on my iphone that are better than most of these. honestly the winner looks like it was taken with an iphone quite frankly..... not sure what is compelling about a photo of a shed taken with an phone?
You guys picked some really crap photos in this bunch. I'm sorry but when someone takes an average photo and adds a prop it is still an average photo. Also what is up with that photo in Roberts? Looks like a finger is in the photo? Really? You hold a photography contest and then publish a photo with a finger in the photo that casts a shadow? Absolute crap.
Re: “The People Issue 2013”
"No, I'm not some jealous female wishing I were continually getting paying gigs from a famous rock star"
You aren't very convincing.
