Purcell lived in East Nashville during much of his adult and political life. I know this because he was my neighbor even before he became Mayor. I grew up in the Inglewood Section of East Nashville but during the late 80's I was buying a NRHP registered Victorian house near 5 Points. Boner had sold his big B house behind East Park and was rehabbing a house down the street from me.

The initial version of the story said that he grew up there. I remember because it struck me as odd. I suspect there was a change in response to my comment.

I can imagine Purcell's bowel movements with that lunch menu each day. I imagine it all the time, by the way.

@notguilty
JR doesn't say Purcell grew up in East Nashville, just that he was a product of East Nashville politics.

Bolton's with an ear of buttery sweet corn and a sliced tomato.

That's summertime deliciousness.

Uh, Bill Purcell did NOT grow up in East Nashville. I think he grew up in Pennsylvania.

The last native we have had as mayor was Bill Boner.

Re: “An excellent new fast-casual seafood spot on Eighth Avenue South brings us back

Could anyone give me a ride over there? I could walk from where I live but it's so darn hot. I can provide my phone number if you'd be willing to pick me up.

Re: “On the oft-maligned, sometimes misunderstood riesling

Well-written and on-point article. There are times in life when we should "embrace the sweetness." That's when we open champaigne, passito, or RIESLING! Is there anything better with a rich Thanksgiving turkey? The Columbia Gorge in Washington is turning out some stunning riesling. Try Memaloose Winery. Mosel style from fresh young vines. Marco.

To "theanony,"

The Forge Cellars riesling I mention at the end of the column is available in Nashville. Try Midtown Wine & Spirits or the Wine Shoppe at Green Hills.

The pidgin Spanish isn't offensive at all.

Racists don't have to be politically correct.

Especially when they write under double pseudonyms.

Wouldn't want to lose that first pseudonym.

Maintaining appearances is important when you're trying to spread as much disinformation as possible.

I eat better than the Revelator's stalker.

Live in a better part of town.

That's really all that matters.

Re: “On the oft-maligned, sometimes misunderstood riesling

Enjoyed this write-up, as I have exploring this grape. Some of the best domestic riesling I've had is from the Finger Lakes region of New York. The vineyards there are on the same latitude as their german counterparts, and the results are astounding. Unfortunately, I haven't found any for sale here in Tennessee.

I'm pretty sure my my means more & more in Spanish.

Maybe we can get a clarification from Juanita Conchita Revelator because a fake Spanish accent isn't racist at all, it's hilarious, right yoyo?
